    So many airlines got sucked into the all Boeing system. Now they are learning why that wasn't such a good idea.

      They didn't get "sucked in." It's what they chose. They made the bed and now they have to lay in it. The same can be said for operators of all Airbus narrow bodies with the PW GTF.

    Embraer should step in the gap left by the Boeing 737 MAX. Sadly they announced they don’t have the plans to, but I’d pick Embraer anyday everyday over the Comac C919.

    Anything new coming from China is based on what they tell us. They could sell 1000 C919’s to Chinese carriers and it would be a numbers success by our standards so how relevant really is the non Chinese market. It’s more about prestige for them to know they had a global impact. It’s a good looking plane though regardless of its capabilities. I hope for a good competitor to A & B, hopefully Embraer also takes a run at it.

    honestly im rooting for Comac. we really need a break in the duopoly and with the massive backorder at Airbus and the shitshow at Boeing now is the perfect time. im hoping we see more manufacturers pop up in the coming years to take advantage of this, or even strictly GA companies branching out. i for one love the idea of a Cirrus or Pilatus narrowbody.

      They'd need fleets of choppers to ship people to their connecting terminal, if it's anything like the current set up which is usually a 10 min bus trip. Very hazardous having choppers buzzing over airport though. With their apparent wealth, they may invent an underground train system connecting all the terminals. The mind boggles!😀

    Comac and Air China are both owned by the Chinese government. This order was not a commercial decision but a political one. Most of the C919's near 1000 aircraft order book are state-owned or substantially state owned. Brunei airline GallopAir, the largest non-Chinese customer, is actually Chinese owned. C919 deliveries have been slow with reportedly only five in service despite the first customer delivery taking place in December 2022.

      Its no different to what the US does with coastal shipping and the Jones Act. Australia used to do when we would insist that there was Australian manufacture for any of the jets purchased (called the Offset policy)

    • @davidcarter4247
      @davidcarter4247 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ianmontgomery7534 Americans argue the Jones Act is a defence policy aimed at retaining a viable shipping industry in case of war. It comes at a cost in the form of high shipping costs. Australian industry offsets on airliner sales ended with deregulation. 30 or more years ago?
      The point I was making with the C919 is there are no sales that are based on the merit of the aircraft.

    • @ianmontgomery7534
      @ianmontgomery7534 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@davidcarter4247I see. The problem C919 sales will have is the demonisation of China. Some countries will be reluctant to buy an aircraft from China because they don't have a track record. I think the acceptance of Chinese cars around the world will eventually make this attitude fade away but it won't be soon.

    20 years forward breaking news: USA is sending a special envoy to China asking China to stop producing planes as they cannot compete with them on price/value. Just like it happened recently with cars... 😁 Not completely beyond the realms of possibilities, is it? If we consider how quickly China’s carmakers caught up…

    • @02hockeystick19
      @02hockeystick19 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The problem with the US is we piss away all of our money making opportunities to the Chinese because of the democrats. All they do is outsource everything and then wonder why our economy crumbles. For now though the C919 isn’t taking off anywhere except the Chinese market which I’m okay with. I’m okay working with and wearing things that are made in China, but items from China (sometimes) are of a lower quality than those made in other countries and I don’t necessarily want to fly on a plane made in China until it’s tried and proven. That’s just me personally though I’m not bashing any company or country or person, this is purely my opinion. I think the C919 is a sharp looking plane with potential, I just want to see it tested and proven first.

    china as usual will produce air plane indeed BUT they need to remember that aviation industry is not like car industry it has a lot of safety and security measures and any failure in any aircraft will immediately impact the whole fleet like recently happened with 737 max the other issue that we all tend to over look is that American and European manufacturers beside the quality checks they still respect there accountability to what product they send to market but the Chinese for example if you buy the car it looks good , feels good , full of options but when it fails the agent simply is not able to support you. so yes they will produce planes for the international market but no they cannot penetrate this market unless they improve on there quality, accountability and reliability of their products

    I’m sure the C919 is a well made, modern piece of technology, just as Bombardiers C Series was. Breaking significantly into new markets proved impossible for the Canadians, much to the benefit of Airbus. I think as the C919 becomes established, it might slowly infiltrate non Chinese markets. It might not dominate the world, but electric cars, electronic technologies, and renewable manufacturing have shown that it is a serious mistake to write off China’s ability to grow in non traditional markets.

      China has seen a MASSIVE downturn in Exports, its Illegal Artificial Island Forts and Runways in the South OF China Sea are sinking and it has a failed Aircraft Carrier. Money is short so Chinese Airlines HAVE to buy these C919 or family members disappear. China has alienated all of South East Asia and Africa, where China has BRIBED its way in, hasn't the money because China has taken it already. China has created an Aircraft for INTERNAL USE ONLY, not clever Xi for a Country that is 100% reliant on Exporting!
      Q. When will the Saudis decide to simply BUY OUT Emirates as an Airline? Possibly why Saudi Arabia is working hard on developing its tourism inland AND the money set aside for the silly linear city is now free to BUY UP ANYTHING.
      BOEING and NO movement from FAA, q. is that because FAA, ex Boeing employees, are covering up their mistakes?
      As a "European" and Biased to Airbus WE NEED BOEING TO SURVIVE but not with any of its Board or Senior Managers below that. Ideally 2 New Commercial Aircraft Manufacturers that have the skills to take control.
