Born in 82, my mom used to pull my hair up into a high ponytail with these hair ties that had little plastic balls on the ends, then she would keep adding them about 2” apart all the way down. Talk about painful, those things would spring out of her hand and give a good SMACK onto my head. 😳🤣🤣
I csn remember the first time I encountered parachute pants- I was in first or second grade and there was an older boy who said he was going to wear them for picture day. My literal brain could NOT imagine what a thing called "parachute" pants would look like- I thought maybe he was going to look like he was jumping out of a plane, or maybe he would actually parachute into class. Imagine my disappointment when he showed up wearing pretty ordinary-looking black pants (topped off with a "Beat It" jacket, of course).
I can completely understand. The 80s tried really hard to be different and it was but some of the terms were not only different but strange. The moon walk was another one that confused me at first. Thank you for watching ScientificallyStupid!
@@ScientificallyStupid Parachute pants were outlawed in my high school for some reason (I went to Catholic schools growing up). I remember girls getting detention bacause of it…

Rhetty, I never heard anyone referred to a mullet as "business in the front and party in the back" or refer to girls' 80's high hair style as "wings on the side".., But that is the most accurate description. You're so well versed. I love it!! Thank you. I say let's bring back all the 80s fashion except the jelly shoes and mullets. Thank God my parents loved us. There was 4 of us females in the house and we ❤️❤️ed AquaNet. We literally went through one can every 3 days! We sure made Aqua Net rich!!
Oh my gosh! You're poor parents having to pay for all that hair spray! I have four girls but luckily the hair spray was never something they used since they were in a younger generation. Thank you for watching and sharing your memories ilovenoodles7483!
😁👍 I remember friends after the 80’s cutting out the shoulder pads from outfits left over from the 80’s. 🤣 Personal preference but i liked the way girls dressed back then, like girls. Hi Jodie! 👋😁🇦🇺
I feel like it was a little classier to be honest. The only thing that was really considered trashy in this time period were the ones that tried to dress like Madonna. That wasn't very many where I lived. Thank you for watching Paul!
I can remember a fad where one slit jeans horizontally on the thigh and then wore colored tights underneath. I also remember having a pair of pants by a company called Male that had zippers that ran down from the hip to the knee and when unzipped there was a different color insert. Mine were Khaki with a burgundy insert. I wore those pants till I wore them out.
I've lived my teenage years during the 80's and if I could travel back in time, I would relive all of it!!! It was the best years of my life!!!🤩👍 And I think we've caused the hole in the Ozone layer with all the spray-net we've used!!!😂
Great walk down memory lane. My bestie was a teen in the 80s, I was in kindergarden. She didn't like that era so much, but I had the time of my life. Loved wearing comfy leggings, scrunchies and jelly shoes. Had a nightblue jellybag for my lunchbox and Hello Kitty bottle, that made all juice taste like plastic - loved it anyway. Always wanted crimped hair, but never got it. Edit for spelling errors
I always took the shoulder pads out of everything- absolutely hated them. Crocs makes really comfy "jelly" shoes (that aren't clogs)...mine are peep toe flats. I had several pairs of jelly shoes and jelly bracelets, legwarmers, shirts that buttoned up the back, scrunchies, banana clips, a couple pairs of Jordache and Guess jeans, Benetton bag, and Esprit and Forenza shirts. I had a Mary Lou Rhetton hairdo as a younger 80s kid and then a femme mullet. Thanks for these great memories, Rhett!
You've mentioned Hypercolor shirts in an older video (I still have mine). It's probably the only fad I really liked from back then. The 80's can keep shoulder pads. Also I worked in a department store in the late 80's and when we would get boxes of Stone-washed jeans in we would have to shake them out before putting them on the racks because they would have pumice stones in the pockets.😂
I had a few of those hypercolor shirts. I need to do a 90s fashion fads video. I'm sort of shocked those haven't come back into style. That's interesting to hear what you had to do with the jeans. Little things like that I never knew. I figured the factories would have shaken them down. Thank you for watching and sharing your memories Shannon!
Great video as usual! I dont know how you feel when viewers recommend an idea. And the 80s my mom had me and my 2 Sisters wearing Chic Jeans and Corduroy And the Turtles necks them wool itchy Sweaters. Also wore Payless shoes through out the 80s wore Pro wings. And the Summer had an lot of cute short outfits. We got most of our clothes from Kmart.
I remember that exercise fad of the 1980's, as well as some of those clothing styles. Looks like pants 👖 were leather-like, so your teenager would get the feel, and the look of real leather, without the expense of it. Happy Thanksgiving!! Your friend, Jeff.

You're welcome and thank you for watching DUMPSTERDIVINGADELAIDE!
I remember alot of Z Cavaricci pants in the late 80s, girls loved them
Those were really a big style! Thank you for watching and mentioning them Bill!
Born in 82, my mom used to pull my hair up into a high ponytail with these hair ties that had little plastic balls on the ends, then she would keep adding them about 2” apart all the way down. Talk about painful, those things would spring out of her hand and give a good SMACK onto my head. 😳🤣🤣
We had those in the 70s, horrible things when they fwapped you in the head!
Yes! Man those hurt! 😂
Thanks for another fun and relaxing video. I can't wait for more!
The 80s rule! Thanks for the video!
You're welcome and thank you for watching Scooby!
I remember girls getting detention bacause of it…
Oh yes, Jams, Member's Only, Parachute Pants, and acid wash lol...I remember when Gotcha brand first came around, every store was sold out, lucky enough to get a shirt.
Those were all big items you mentioned. I'll have to cover a couple of them in a future episode. Thank you for watching ghyein!
I still have my acid wash Levi jean jacket. Apparently denim of any style are in right now so I’ll have to dig it out!
That is really cool that you have your old jeans. I wish I had mine but I don't think I could fit in mine. Thank you for watching and sharing what you have Nicki!
Rhetty,
I never heard anyone referred to a mullet as "business in the front and party in the back" or refer to girls' 80's high hair style as "wings on the side"..,
But that is the most accurate description.
Hi Jodie! 👋😁🇦🇺
Hi Paul 👋😁🇺🇸
I feel like it was a little classier to be honest. The only thing that was really considered trashy in this time period were the ones that tried to dress like Madonna. That wasn't very many where I lived. Thank you for watching Paul!
Loved to have grew up in the 80s but wasn't born then
I can remember a fad where one slit jeans horizontally on the thigh and then wore colored tights underneath. I also remember having a pair of pants by a company called Male that had zippers that ran down from the hip to the knee and when unzipped there was a different color insert. Mine were Khaki with a burgundy insert. I wore those pants till I wore them out.
Great video, I thought the Jams shorts were called Bermuda shorts so I'm happy I clicked on this video.❤
Yeah the 80s was an awesome decade
Yes it was. Thank you for watching ryulee458!
Wow!! Fantastic video.
Thank you and I appreciate you watching petestain8312!
Hawaii shirts and shrieky ties.
Moon boots may also have been around. They never made a comeback. Thank god.
Tom Selleck sure made those shirts cool didn't he? Thank you for watching slimbombur7922!
I've lived my teenage years during the 80's and if I could travel back in time, I would relive all of it!!! It was the best years of my life!!!🤩👍
And I think we've caused the hole in the Ozone layer with all the spray-net we've used!!!😂
Thanks Rhetty. 👍🏼
You're welcome and thank you for watching Ron!
I actually wouldn't be mad if a lot of this stuff came back. I loved the tshirt rings and jelly bracelets. I forgot all about JAMS!
My late mother made me wear a lot of those shirts with a collar and an alligator on them in elementary school in the 80s.
Oh yes! Lacoste was a super popular shirt. I loved those. Thank you for watching and mentioning that brand!
AKA Izod. They were very popular for a while. I had some of their polos and sweaters as well when I was younger (4th to 7th grade).
Oh, we need a second!
Great video as usual! I dont know how you feel when viewers recommend an idea. How about a video on the all the gags/ toys that were available for mail order in the ads of comic books in the 70s and 80s? Anyway, thanks for putting out videos that remind me of the greatest era in history! Best channel on TH-cam!👍🏻
My mum had a lot of these... I vividly remember her in body suits and leg heaters doing aerobics in home watching exercises on TV 😂
Thank you for watching and sharing what your Mom had Michael!
The fashion is slowly coming back and I'm glad.

Thank you for watching Lynn!
About to use my can of aqua net now 😮
Haha! Awesome! Thank you for watching itall5163!
I loved the jellies, scrunchies, leg warmers, stir ups…
Those bracelets!!!! I used to wear like 100 at a time…
Let’s not forget the AQUA net 😂
Reeboks! I honestly just bought a pair, and they are the most comfortable shoes ever! I don't know why we quit wearing them!
They were really popular at one time. They also seemed to be the official shoe for jazzercise. Thank you for watching crowgrl13!
