A huge thank you to Jeanne and Mikey for this pattern and tutorial. It’s become my go to pattern for baby blankets. I just love the texture. Now I’m starting on an enlarged version for my Aunt. I just can’t get enough of the hugs and kisses blankets you guys had. While I didn’t struggle with pattern reading, I came here for some tips. Mikey you did a great job on explaining this to everyone. You made it simple so anyone can follow along and accomplish this beautiful stitch. In order to know how many chains I needed, I did the sample as you did through the first row of Dc. Then I measured from center valley to center valley. That gave me the width for the 28 stitches. I knew then how many I needed to chain. I do this each time I do a chevron or wave blanket. It sure saves a lot of time!

This looks so very pretty! I have just found out that a cousin is expecting a baby in August. I think I may try to practise this first, having read the below comments! I am doing a feather and fan waves pattern at the moment and you HAVE to count stitches at the end of each row. I'll let you know how I get on!
Thank you so much, Michael, for doing a tutorial on this. I've been wanting to make it since the pattern came out but I couldn't figure it out. You make it so easy and I'm having fun with it.
I'm just getting back into crocheting again. I love all your pattern tutorials. Thank you for the clear and understandable instruction. I want to use this pattern on a small lap blanket I'm making (but no ripple).
the instruction is great! easy to follow! I think the count may be off. I can not even get through the first row. I have been crocheting for over 20 years. (chaining 158)Get to the last few stitches and I will have 11 stitches left more then the 9. I ripped everything out and count the chains multiple times and it always comes to 158 then I restart the double crochets and still end with to many stitches and unable to finish the row. Please help
It sounds like your count is off or you're missing stitches. You should only have 6st left at the end, not 11 or 9. It starts dbl on the 4ch from the hook, 5dbl, then repeats a patter of (3tog, 12dbl) (3dbl in one chain, 12dbl). It should end with a 3tog and you'll have 6 chains left. If this sounds like what you've been doing, only thing I can think is you accidentally put a st in the wrong chain.
I thought i was going mad! Ive ended up with the same stitches as you and ivve started over so many times and i thought it was my count off. Did you manage to find a solution at all?
Hi Mikey. I so much appreciate all of your videos. They are extremely helpful and easy to understand. You are my go-to person. Could you please clarify something for me? On row 6 (the sc row after the bobble) at 27:14, when doing the sc3tog, your first stitch of the sc3tog is in the same stitch as the previous 5th sc. Is this correct?
Beautiful! I love watching your videos, they're always so easy to follow along. I started this blanket and it's working up nicely. I did have a little trouble getting my count correct, on the single crochet row, after the bobble stitch row.
Good day! This video is a little on the older side, but I absolutely love this pattern. I believe I can do it *IF* I can use stitch markers for the peaks and valleys. Would you PLEASE take the time if you see this to let me know where to place these markers? Would it be in the first of the three in each of the st for the peaks and Valleys- so that I know that is where I put the first of that three in each time( for both Peaks/Valleys)
I just finished this beautiful blanket for a baby shower gift. I used lion brand ice cream in tutti frutie. Absolutely love the color way! In the process we found out we will be expecting our 3rd grandchild and of course my daughter also loves this blanket. My question is what would be a nice border for a chevron? This is my very first chevron and definitely not my last! I would like to find something other than just the single crochet edge. Thank you so much for this tutorial!!!!!
@@allysonowens2895 I just saw Mikey doing a fringe just the other day and I thought how cute that would be. I wish I could recall the tutorial it was on but it was so cute! I remember a sc into stitch and then pull it out till 10 / 12 inches or so and then twist the loop about 40 times to make the yarn want to natural twist. Then sc that loop into the next stitch. I'll have to look up the tassel though. Thank you!
27:22 struggling with row 6. You go into the same chain for the 5th SC as well as the SC3TOG. If I do it without going into the same stitch, I’m left with no more chains for the final 2 SC. if I do it the way you did, I’m doing 3SC in the first SC of the row before instead of the second.
I either do the 3SC in the wrong stitch or the 3SCTOG in the wrong stitches. It does not equal 12 between the two. I’ve already restarted once and have recounted again and am in the same predicament.
Thank you love this even with the solid and Mikey thanks love the way you do the cross stitch going in the front I learned a new way xo also the counting is so much easy who would have thunk!! Xo
Kayla....making same blanket. Im stuck. I read that you should count your stitches, same for every row. 158, comes down to 155, or 154. The sc row after bobble row is not correct. My valleys are not aligned correctly. I'm missing something. Any suggestions?
The crisscross shows up better on one side than the other. So u might have to turn the bubbles around when u are finished with blanket. I am a left hander. So watch for it.

I'm just getting back into crocheting again. I love all your pattern tutorials. Thank you for the clear and understandable instruction. I want to use this pattern on a small lap blanket I'm making (but no ripple).
Joy Marcinkowski how do you do it with no bobbles?
the instruction is great! easy to follow!
@@abbyjade1897 same! I’ve pulled it apart four times!
I’m sure going to give this a try. Thank you fir the detailed video
You're welcome.
I made it with caron cakes fruit cake and it came out so colorful. I love it. Thanks for the demo ❤
Thanks so much for explaining this. I wanted to make it for my new grand baby
Thanks as always Mikey, you have the best tutorials and make tricky patterns much easier.
Yes, I believe that is right. There is a diagram provided in the video description and that may help you as well.
That’s exactly where my stitch count is off 😩
So beautiful patterns
Beautiful! I love watching your videos, they're always so easy to follow along. I started this blanket and it's working up nicely. I did have a little trouble getting my count correct, on the single crochet row, after the bobble stitch row.
sorry you had trouble starting... sounds like you got it all worked out now.
For the peaks, it’ll be the middle stitch. So 2 of 3.
Beautiful pattern I love doing the bobble stitch so this is definatly on my next baby blanket to do list.
I've finished this - it's gorgeous! What about a finishing edge or trim. Any suggestions?
Would love one too
I think the shell stitch for a boarder would look nice
I just finished this beautiful blanket for a baby shower gift. I used lion brand ice cream in tutti frutie. Absolutely love the color way! In the process we found out we will be expecting our 3rd grandchild and of course my daughter also loves this blanket. My question is what would be a nice border for a chevron? This is my very first chevron and definitely not my last! I would like to find something other than just the single crochet edge. Thank you so much for this tutorial!!!!!
Karen Summey if I can ever get passed the second row on this. I’m struggling. I plan on doing tassels on the points:)
Thank you!
This is a beautiful blanket.
I absolutely enjoying crocheting this awesome blanket. I love the texture of using several stitches. 👍👍😘
Absolutely beautiful. Fabulous tutor too. Will definitely have to try this one thank you x
Thankyou just did my swatch and it came out perfect! Now to do a baby blanket! Can’t wait

This is gorgeous! Thank you...I think I just found my next baby blanket pattern!😊👍
What a gorgeous pattern and a great tutorial. I cannot wait to start.
Thank you Mikey.... it is very easy to follow and it turned out beautifully with Caron cakes!!!
my favorite pattern so far!!
Myne is now finish pine green and rust brown. It is beautiful thanks for your pattern. Greetings Santie Malan 😍🌺
Thank you, I've been looking for a nice wave blanket pattern to do for my next blanket.👍
This is my next project! It's beautiful with the popcorns!
Thank you love this even with the solid and Mikey thanks love the way you do the cross stitch going in the front I learned a new way xo also the counting is so much easy who would have thunk!! Xo
Lovee this pattern! Im making one now in Caron Cakes pumpkin spice and its gorgeous! Thank you for making such great tutorials Mikey! 😄
Kayla....making same blanket. Im stuck. I read that you should count your stitches, same for every row.
158, comes down to 155, or 154. The sc row after bobble row is not correct. My valleys are not aligned correctly. I'm missing something. Any suggestions?
This is beautiful I can’t wait to try this. Thank you
You’re welcome 😊
The crisscross shows up better on one side than the other. So u might have to turn the bubbles around when u are finished with blanket. I am a left hander. So watch for it.
Thank you for this lovely pattern. Is there any plan to make a Hugs & Kisses shawl pattern?
