1976 Chevy El Camino Project Part 5: Fuel Tank Removal And Pump Install

This time we slide under the Elco for a spell to drop the fuel tank to check on its condition as well as install a generic electric fuel pump as part of the new fuel system for the newer engine in the car.

Do you have to mount an electric fuel pump if you get a new gas tank or is that optional

I had to mount one only because the engine I used was a newer one and I didn't go inside it to replace the eccentric on the cam for a mechanical fuel pump. I'm not sure if SBC engines need that piece as I mostly mess with Fords which do. If I do go inside the engine later on I can install a mechanical pump and do away with the electric unit.
