These are just a few of the real Jiu-Jitsu techniques that are sadly no longer taught on 90% of BJJ schools these days. Maybe like the first two weeks before moving to spider guard, inversions and ashi entries. If you aren't teaching these techniques REGULARLY you aren't teaching Jiu-Jitsu.
Good thing about small countries like mine Puerto Rico we got the privilege to get high quality BJJ Martial artist like Flavio Behring we have to take tests to be able to have the next belt ..
I wish the membership program on this channel was more organized than just a playlist of 1000 videos. Love the videos but it's hard to find specific stuff.
@@julylifecoach yes I think I would be best if it was organized in playlists of positions for example "half guard (JJM 3.0)" and "side control (JJM 3.0)" and so on. Just a way to make it more digestible. I had membership for 3 months. I loved it very good stuff and worth the money. But i don't think I made it past video 500.
I run a Japanese Jiu Jitsu school, and these techniques are all taught at my location. It’s a shame it’s hard to get traction at a school nowadays if you’re not teaching BJJ. Fantastic techniques and lesson, btw! Great stuff!
Best would be to combine them. JJJ and BJJ should not be put against each other. Some BJJ schools teach a lot of stand up JJJ and include it as part of BJJ, some JJJ schools borrow from BJJ. I think it's good to have both. Ground fighting is fun to train since you can battle it out for many minutes at a time without wearing protection, faking or pulling "shots" and go back and forth between dominant and bad positions. More traditional JJJ is good for keeping good habits when striking is involved or multiple attackers, where BJJ mainly does Judo and Wrestling for standup which is purely grappling. Both should be taught, and I'd love to see "fusion" schools.
I think old school ju jutsu could reinvent itself and get traction if, and only if, the old school ju jutsu guys actually start sparring for real. Let's be honest, there´s a reason most people will choose bjj over jjj... For me personally, I sparred against an old school ju jutsu black belt as a bjj blue belt, and it was so easy for me to submit him. It was like he had almost never sparred a hard round of grappling in his life.
This is what we do during all the classes at my school affiliated with Valente Brothers. The first 2/3 of the classes are focused on personal defense, the rest on ground techniques, always with a focus on personal defense. Don't they really teach these techniques in BJJ schools?

Still being taught at my school . I agree with you
So wish there was a JJM program by me. He is such a good man and instructor, would love to learn from him.

This is what I learned in BJJ back in the 90's and still practice and teach today. Everyone should know these before they even become a blue belt.
always good stuff with the Machados. Wish we have an affiliate here in NZ

That brown belt at the end is a slow learner.
