Thanks for posting! I wasn't clear on how the cord is ran through the locking pulley.

Thanks I had the brake all looped up, it was simpler than I was making it.

Great video! What size screws did you use? Also, what kind of 2x4” wood is best for garage use? Last, what length of screws did you use? Links would be great to find the parts or make a parts list for my trip to Home Depot. Thanks in advance!

I actually just used some old 1x4 lumber my parents had left over after moving into their new home.
It was from a packing crate the movers made.
Any pine lumber will work just fine.
Just be sure it is wide enough for the pulley bracket bases.
I used 2.5" long screws to ensure that they bit deeply into the ceiling joists above the drywall ceiling.
And 1.5" for the bracket holes that just engage the lumber.
I use spax T star plus, flat head screws for all of my projects. Stocked in any hardware store fastener aisle.

Could you use the pulley system to levitate the bike for repairs too instead of using a repair stand?

It would work for the height, however the bike would be swinging all over the place if you were wrenching on the bike, it might work for a quick job every now and then, but that's about it

      I'm guessing 10 feet.

Is the ceiling cement or board?

How’s that rope. It looks pretty weak.

It's going on two years now, it even held my dad's Ebike for all of last winter.
You could easily upgrade the rope if you don't trust it

Be carful fixing in older property's- garages, because ASBESTOS was widely used as a fire barrier

This is a fairly new condo, but that is always something to be aware of
