Explained exactly the issue I was having. Makes so much more sense now. Thank you. Great video

TYSM! I had math HW and my teacher doesn't explain anything well and this 3 minute video made more sense then 42 hours worth of boring sessions that didn't even make no sense,
I have a quiz tomorow on this so wish me luck :) TY AGAIN!

why are you multiplying by 3 ? can you explain to me how you find the number you multiply by ?

You want either the x's or the y's of the two equations to match (be the same). Since the top equation has 9y and the bottom equation has 3y, we can multiply the bottom equation by 3 so that it will also become 9y!
To figure out what number to multiply by, ask yourself "is there a number you can multiply one of the x's by to get the other x?" If there is not an easy one (like in this case), ask yourself the same question but with the y's! Since 3y can be multiplied by 3 to match the 9y on top, you should multiply that equation by 3!

Hey can u make a video about if one of the equations has just a letter here’s my problem
    3x + y = -1
    2x + 3y =18

When there is just a single letter (like y), put a 1 in front of it to make it is less confusing... so that first equation becomes 3x + 1y = -1. To solve the system, multiply that first equation by 3 (so the y's match up in both equations) and then subtract them to solve for x!

Hey please get back to me. I did everything you said, mine was.
    X- 6y = -13
    7x + 2y =41
But when I got to my third row to do the first one It didn’t work as in the numbers didn’t match up. What was the problem with mine?. I got 2y, 4y, 6y as I started doing the work but none of my numbers matched up

Your problem actually has two ways you can set up and solve... I think the easier method is to multiply the second equation by 3. That would make the second equation 21x+6y=123. Now the y's will match up with the first equation! So you can add the two equations together and get x=5. When you go back to solve for y, you should get y=3.
