While that bolt got a level of scrutiny that is unheard of except in the highest realms of engineering for such a small bit, you can be sure that some team of people, some group put the same love and enthusiasm in some bit of even a mundane car. Every car decision, from part choices & design to test production, was under the direction and test of many thousands of people. Some of which greatly cared about their work even if it was to nobody's notice.

I know right? All these little things make the cars we love and makes us appreciate the littlest things. these little things make us feel an emotional attachment to them and the car. Reminding us how much stress and effort a non living thing and such a simple thing as a bolt has to take. Truely an incredible video

0:49 Machinist loading the program and indicating the material (telling the CNC machine where the material is exactly in space)

0:55 Same machine picks the bolt from finished end and live tooling finishes the second operation on other side.
0:57 Bolt is finished and signed off by CNC Machinist
1:01 Inspection starts
with visual inspection
1:03 Micrometer inspection of the shaft.
1:04 Caliper inspection of the head of the bolt length
1:07 Inspection of the thread with thread gauge (GO gauge shown, NOT GO gauge not shown)
1:08 Inspection of different dimensions, length from head to start of thread, overall length and various radius on Mitutoyo Ph-a14 Optical Comparator
1:17 Material Hardness test (I believe, and if it is it should be done before all dimensional inspection because it is a waste of time measuring a hardness that could end up being wrong and then realizing you wasted so much time inspecting dimensions)
1:20 Florescent Penetrant Inspection(FPI) (To check for material cracks if any whatsoever)
1:23 FPI Complete and signed off
1:29 Heat treatment
1:36 Laser engraving with project number/part number/serial number according to work instructions
1:39 Final inspection complete and signed off
1:40 Part complete and packaged and... 1:55 stored in inventory

It's videos like these that really bring always bring a new appreciation of f1 to me, as it focuses on the real heroes and team.
It isn't always about the drivers. The people making the car and putting their time and effort into it deserve just as much credit at the people who drive it.
You gotta appreciate the bolt too. It's going through extenuating forces while the car pulls 5g through corners.

About 5 years ago, this video inspired me to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering. Ended up switching to mechatronic engineering but nevertheless I am about to graduate as a Mechatronic Engineer and continue studying towards a Masters degree in mechatronics with a focusing on digital twins and their implementation in the automotive industry. Every now and again I think of this video and it gives me such a good feeling. Knowing that through all the long hours and the sleepless are about to pay off. Thank you Red Bull :)

This video is incredibly beautiful, and I think it has a deeper meaning. I think it analogises humanity and the world. No matter if you are a bolt, or an engine block, you are part of something much bigger, and if any of you go, the car won't function.
I love the stitched video where we see the story of the bolt, and then footage of when that RedBull F1 car lost both front wheels at the same time, making it look like the bolt failed mid-race!
