As much as we have huge amount of respect for the mechanics,team principals,the drivers,technical directors and the engineers who worked on the race weekends. The people who spent hours building these cars at the factory are also the MVPs

I don't think so. The highest budget in 2011 for Ferrari Formula one was 259 million US dollars. While the space shuttle project cost around 170 billion for 2008. You also have to remember there are allot more factors that go into the Space Shuttle than an F1 car. For instance the Shuttle has to hold together on reentry while maintaining immense heat on the outside structure and has to be vacuum sealed so that no air escapes the passenger cabin.
