Construction of the Thomson-East Coast Line Stage 4 stretch started in 2016.
    (TE23) Tanjong Rhu Station:
Contract T303 for the Construction of Tanjong Rhu Station and Tunnels for Thomson-East Coast Line was awarded to Bachy Soletanche Singapore Pte Ltd - Wai Fong Construction Pte Ltd Joint Venture (JV) at a contract sum of S$293.9 million in January 2016.
    (TE24) Katong Park Station:
Contract T305 for the Construction of Katong Park Station and Tunnels for Thomson-East Coast Line was awarded to Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Co. (Singapore) Pte Ltd at a contract sum of S293.5 million in January 2016.
Shanghai Tunnel Engineering from China were previously involved in the construction of DTL1’s Promenade station and DTL2’s Newton station, Tuas West Extension, DTL3’s tunnelling portion between Tampines East Station and Upper Changi Station, as well as TEL’s Shenton Way station and tunnelling portion between Woodlands Station and Woodlands Avenue 12.
Construction Challenges of (TE24) Katong Park Station:
Because of the narrow site constraints-a two-lane road measuring 6m wide flanked by high-rises and at least one pre-war house-Katong Park was designed in stacked station configuration where one platform built on top of the other, as opposed to being parallel to each other. While stacked stations are uncommon but not unique to Katong Park, it was the first time that tunnel-boring machines were used to construct them. As such, the lower station (and tunnels) was built first, followed by the upper station and tunnels, hence requiring additional time. After tunnelling is done, the station sites are then excavated.
    (TE25) Tanjong Katong Station:
Contract T306 for the Construction of Construction of Tanjong Katong Station for Thomson-East Coast Line was awarded to Woh Hup (Private) Limited at a contract sum of S145.6 million in March 2016. The working name for the station was Amber Station.
Woh Hup’s legacy of landmarks and buildings include MacDonald House, Centrepoint, World Trade Centre (now Habourfront Centre, Clifford Pier (now The Fullerton Bay Hotel), TEL’s Woodlands South station and Changi Airport’s Project Jewel.
To make way for station construction, six semi-detached houses along Amber Road and nine walk-up apartments along Tanjong Katong Road were acquired.
    (TE26) Marine Parade:
Contract T307 for the Construction of Marine Parade Station and Tunnels for Thomson-East Coast Line was awarded to Samsung C&T Corporation at a contract sum of S$555.3 million in November 2015.
Samsung C&T Corporation is an established contractor in Korea, which had completed several infrastructure and building projects in Korea and overseas, including Singapore. It was previously involved in the construction of North-South Line Marina South Pier station and Downtown Line 1 Telok Ayer station. They were also involved in the construction of Downtown Line 3 Expo and Tampines East stations, as well as TEL Caldecott station that interchanges with the Circle Line.
Works are 100% completed for (TE24) Katong Park Station, 99.5% completed for (TE23) Tanjong Rhu Station, 99% completed for (TE25) Tanjong Katong Station and 98.5% completed for (TE26) Marine Parade Station. Works are still going on for the remaining Exits 5 and 6 of Marine Parade Station.
