Can't thank you and John enough for introducing us to the LS2 Advant x helmet. It was hard to find but managed to get my hands on one and... Freaking perfect! Size, function and comfort are all top notch. One helmet that serves as 3... Love it!
I have the LS2 helmet and absolutely love it because of its functionality. I have owned many different helmets in the past but this one is my favorite. Great review thanks for sharing it!
Appreciate all the content Sandy. I fly with Air Trek med jets out of Punta Gorda Florida (PGD) we are up in Jersey all the time. I know you’re a pilot. Anyway glad u and John made it back safe. I ride a new 2023 street glide. Wish I had waited for the 2024’s but still love my bike. Love your content!
Good information and a great comparison. Personally I really like my AGV Sportmodular helmet. After doing quite a bit of research I purchased the carbon fiber version in Large which weighs only ~1560 grams.
Great review I was waiting for this. I think the functionality its awesome just not digging the shape it’s too wide and round. Thank you Sandy glad you guys had a great trip.
I've used an LS2 Carbon Explorer for two years riding a TW200. This year I bought a BELL SRT after testing six helmets (from Amazon). Only place I know of you can return a worn helmet. Make sure to get that in writing before you buy. Not all vendors will agree to that policy. The Bell is just OUTSTANDING! I paired that with a Cardo freecom 2x. Best system I've ever used. My only complaint is I have one heck of a time getting streakless, perfectly clean visors. I have 5 visors, and have that problem with all of them. Don't have that issue with the LS2. I also fitted the Bell with an old Nolan quick release chin lock. Works great!
I own a few Bell helmets and a couple of the ls 2 helmets. Both are good quality helmets. I like the bell modular better just because the Advent x is too wide on the sides. Looks and feels awkward to me. Also modular helmets are not meant to be worn at high speeds. The new Rpha 91 by HJC is rated to be worn on the open position, due to the chin bar having not having g a bigger gap. The Scorpion 930 modular actually has a chin bar that comes off for a true 3/4 helmet. Also ECE rated. I really enjoy your videos! Keep up the great work. Thanks. Also Modular is the best for me, it let's me smoke cigars while riding!😊
I have the LS2 and absolutely love it! I still use my Shoei 1400, but more often than not I reach for LS2. Comes with dark smoke and clear shields too and the price is actually less than I thought. Only problem right now is it’s hard to get an extra pin loc cause it’s new to market. I went with the dark shield and use the Shoei at night until the pin lock comes available. You will not be disappointed if you choose this helmet!
Excellent review. I currently have a modular that is similar to the BELL helmet that you have. I find it a bit loud. I like all the features of the LS2 helmet. Looks like a good helmet. I will keep my eye open for one.👍
Two things to consider when buying this great helmet. 1. The Carbon Fiber weighs the same as the standard version. 2. The correct size helmet will be very snug around your cheeks as it will break in fairly quickly and fit not so snug. I thought the Large was to snug and switched to an Extra Large. After a two week ride the XL felt like it was wiggling slightly loose on my head. I went back to the large which was actually the correct size after a few rides. Great helmet! I installed the external Cardo on mine.
I have that same white bell modular. There is a lot of wind noise. The LS2 is over $700 and most people have a hard time coming up with that cash. I have a tall windshield on my fjr1300 so the noise is basically on the top of my head but I would love to try that LS2! Thanks for the video Sandy!
In Europe modular helmets are supposed to be closed when riding as they lack protection. On the other hand ls2 is homologated for both cases as closed and as jet .
What about the quality of the LS2? I had one 10 years ago and it was terrible. All the dust from the road was flying in my eyes, the air vents were blowing even when closed and there was a lot of noise.
Thanks for the detailed review, been looking at the LS2 but Cycle Gear in my area never have them in stock. Guess I have to order and take my chances with my fat head.
Great video Sandy! Question... what size helmet do you normally where, and is the LS2 true to size? I'm reading some conflicting reports that it tends to run a little small, and since it looks like the only way to get one of these is to order it online I need to figure out what size to get. Thanks brother!!
On most helmets I wear a extra small my head size is 21 inches , but on the ls2 modular s I had to get a size large and its pretty tight . Make sure you try one on before you buy it . The head sizes are way off . I went through a small ,medium and then the large . Thats 3 sizes bigger just to fit my small head size .
I own a AGV sportmodular...which is a fantastic helmet, but I am seriously contemplating ditching it for the LS2.....insanely functional....for 35 years I have only worn Arai and last year snagged the modular...and already I am ready to jump ship...LOLZ
In my opinion it makes no sense to ride with the chinbar raised. If you need more wind in your face open the shield. In the event of a crash you won’t have time to lower the chinbar.
Great review. I work overnights, and ride to work at night, it's dark, then ride home in the morning with sun glasses. Do they have an inner sunshade that is clear, or yellow? The only reason I'm hanging on to my 2018 Shoei Neotec 2 is because it had the option of a yellow inner sunshade. I never ride with the outer screen down. I need the airflow. I haven't seen anyone offer a clear inner "sun shade". For me the inner sun shade is just about eye protection, not wanting to put eye protection on, witch hurts my head, temples, and getting that free air in my helmet. Your thoughts.
In the UK the bell helmet isn't rated for riding with it open so a few reviews in the UK have stated its actually illegal to ride with the front flipped up. i will ask out of the 2 helmets how did you find wind noise as i have a modular ls2 currently (scope) the wind noise is unbearable and in the rain i get water coming in side pass the visor for a person such as my self who wears glasses that's a big no no due to the fact if water gets on them i cant wipe them off and visibility is then really badly affected
If u like that style u should went with scorpion exo tech evo carbon helmet it looks way better and function the same. But great review i just dont like how round the helmet looks, but doing that much miles looks prolly last on the list 😂. But check out the scorpion i know dude with it and he loves it and it actually looks pretty cool.
I asked this on Johns video. But figured i'd ask you also. I'm assuming motorcycle depot is legit since you both promote it? I only ask because i ordered 8 days ago after Johns video. And my helmet still hasn't shipped. Just curious if they are that slow. And making sure i didn't get scammed. Thanks
Buddy thanks for that order ! 100% legit ! These are very difficult helmets to come by.... I waited a week for mine. Rest assured you'll get it and love it. I just got mine yesterday...
I've never seen a traditional modular helmet that did not have the warning that you are not to ride with the chin bar up. If you Were to go down And in a slide with the chin bar up, it can catch on something and break your neck. So all that catching of the air does not matter because you are doing something the helmet was not designed to do. The LS2 helmet, was designed to do that. Be careful, ride safe.
Would you say the fit, of the LS2, is circular or oval? I've had helmets of the correct size, but round instead of more oval, give me headaches. Also, could you still hear your bike stereo?
LS 2 wins every time! I had both and the Bell is too heavy and catches too much win when up and the vents has an annoying rattle. My LS 2 is well vented and the 180 degree chin flip is excellent. LS 2 WINS!!
How does the helmet perform as a full-face helmet, considering John used it as a 3/4 helmet 99% of the time. Looking for a good modular not a 3/4 helmet.
Thanks for the helmet comparison review, actually I'm more interested in how the Low Rider ST held up during the 8000 mile+ journey, I know your cruise control failed somewhere along the trip, but overall, how did the LRST faired? thanks for sharing

Thanks for the o formations. That's what I was looking for to decide about the LS2.
LS2 Fantastic helmet. Great points and review
Yah, but John looked like a doofus in that thing. 😂
Oh....woops!
@@derfskittlers6125 HAHAHAHAH. TRUTH!!!! It is a HUGE helmet compared to sportbike helmets!!
Well done Sandy. I have always been a Bell guy but man you brought up some great informational points. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful!

Very cool brother. Eventually I will get a 2024 model. They are a big step up in terms of all round quality IIMO

I have same helmet....only thing I dont like is hte strap....as I am used to sportbike helmets...the strap so close to your neck is just WONKY

Sandy, this video review on these helmets was sik. Brother. I loved this. Capo
Capo di tuti capi ma man !

I believe SHARK has had a similar helmet, to the LS2, for some years now. Haven't had a chance to try one, though.
Thanx !Confirms my shopping options! 🙂

Nice job with the review--thank you

Have the ls2 advant x carbon also. Verry happy.jut watch the small glass. Can fall down. Just clip it back up.
Great video brother.
Much appreciated
great review. I have the Bell and like it. the LS2 seems to be huge compare to the Bell.
I just got a NeoTec 3, love it and comfortable.....
Thanks for the detailed review, been looking at the LS2 but Cycle Gear in my area never have them in stock. Guess I have to order and take my chances with my fat head.
Well done.
I have the Ls2 flip helmet great helmet have mine flipped back 99% of the time only have it full face when its raining

True to size generally speaking. Medium and I got medium

Excellent video!
My wife has an AdvantX Great helmet
Buying a used helmet is like buying someone else’s old underwear.😉

I don’t know about that option but just FYI - John was riding most of the time with clear outer visor on only and was getting a lot of ventilation
Sandy excellent review they should give you a helmet for that review!!! Glad your home safe brother!!
I am looking at the Scorpion Exo Tech Onyx if you ever heard of them. Similar system than the LS2.

Inside the helmet feels like my Shoe RF 1200 and RF 1400. Intermediate oval...

I have a bell srt great fit and look but very loud and yes I wear earplugs. Ls2 has a terrible shape but good features. Nolan is my choice
How does the helmet perform as a full-face helmet, considering John used it as a 3/4 helmet 99% of the time. Looking for a good modular not a 3/4 helmet.
It’s a great full face too
How about the safety rating. You didn’t talk about the safety rating.
Thanks for the helmet comparison review, actually I'm more interested in how the Low Rider ST held up during the 8000 mile+ journey, I know your cruise control failed somewhere along the trip, but overall, how did the LRST faired? thanks for sharing
It did great ! just like the big bikes ! i will have a video about the experience with the softail on that long trip
If you're going over 40 lift the visor.
Shark also makes a helmet like that
I don’t like helmets with a built in communication system, I’d rather use my choice.
Cant compare a flip over helmet to a modular
Ya once again the price 😭
The LS2 is pretty reasonably priced, $430 new or so.
