IMO? Gatling Plasma: Close to Medium, Crowd control with Beam Splitter. The OG Heavy Shotty. Gauss Minigun: Medium to Long, pretty much a Full Auto sniper. Although I prefer the Plasma Caster to snipe with.
I run a B-25FireRate-15Reload, ultracite gauss mini on my bloodied heavy PA build, I got it on a craft roll, it absolutely melts the SBQ even solo, also melts ammo like crazy. But when it only takes a couple rounds for small enemies it doest really matter much
I must say I LOVE the Gauss mini. Fast, fun, powerful. I have not primed one yet due to resource considerations but may soon. That said I must say though the mini is a hoot my primed Aristocrats Gatling Plasma is my most powerful ranged weapon. It's just a ridiculous thing. And +25% damage when aiming? Oh my. It just melts the toughest of enemies. No, it's not Legacy standard or ideal in all situations. But as this vid clearly exhibits its simply a "go to" when the chit gets serious.
The Gauss Minigun looks way better and is explosive, but I'll have to give the edge to the gatling plasma. Also, the gauss minigun drains ammo and scrap so fast which is a big downside
I was lucky to buy B/FFR Gatling Plasma recently from a player vendor. Damn thing melts anything and ammo is plenty, cheap and lightweight with Batteries Included. I tested it with Stabilized + all heavy damage cards + Tenderizer + Adrenaline + Bloody Mess + Taking One For The Team + Adrenal Reaction to get the maximum possible amount of damage. I thnik I got somewhat close to legacy damage output on SBQ, Earle was impressed too. I guess it's possible to push it further with magazine and bobblehead, but I didn't have any at the time.
@matthewflores4183 every heavy gunner perks, bloody mess, nerd rage, stabalize, strange in numbers, 1 gun army. Play bloodied and have on adrenal reaction, you could use heavy gunner bobblehead and psychobuff to increase damage. What else is there that I'm missing? Oh this game isn't rocket science. I still rest my case on heavy gunner being poop

Isnt grenadier/demo expert pointless on the build if using the plasma? It does no explosions
Did he ever talk about actual DPS? The fire rate is quite different between the two so its odd to only compare damage per hit.
U should do a ranking of the weapon types in the game, for example: Bows last automatic rifles first or som
