- There are lots of things about combat In don't starve together that you may have noticed but never truely understood Lets go ahead and take a look at how aggro works in DST.

i wiould wager they reuse aggro code from beefalo

I would say that perhaps it might possibly be related to reusing behavior from the Beefalo probably.
Combat in DST is not only strange but is also passionate i love when i am kiting an enemy and my character instead of going for the hit gets close to the enemy's face to stare longingly into their eyeballs very romantic if you ask me
Very nicely done. I used to figure out myself how to manipulatemobs to fight each other or stay in an area and ignore them after figuring out their timers and range. Then it became second nature that it annoyed me so much when my not so good at dst friends kept complaining of a bee constantly chasing them when i see them zigzaging around the bees while letting it sting the air😂
in the shipwrecked dlc wildboar (shipwrecked pigmen) will agro on to you if you try to break their houses unlike normal pigmen

Thanks, that helps explain a lot of the oldies I’ve experienced, specifically spiders swarming and chasing, but then most calm down except one or two, these must have attacked me more recently.

Tallbird aggro is strange as all hell. When its far away its almost as buggy as moosegoost. Almost.
Half the time you're a mile away from them and they aggro, the other half you have to get right next to them until they notice you.

2:21 i thought they just attack you anyway independent on whether you are in a tent or not, Because last time i checked they just attack players who sleep. But i guess it's some weird spaghetti code hijinks like Wigfrid taking less damage from eating monster meat because bread.
There is something weird going on with the shadow creatures because usually when you enter a tent everything should unagro from you because you turn invisible however it just doesn't happen with Shadow creatures

Can we get a video on don't starves targeting... I want to know why my player prefers the crawling horror In the back rather than the terror beak on me.
that is usually based on what type of attack you are using.
Pressing the standard attack button will continue to target the last hit creature. That is why the player will normally focus not the creature thats closest.
you instead need to use force attack because that will target the closest creature to the player.

This is a very interesting video, and I'd be interested in watching more on this topic. Like one question I have for example is if a mob doesn't easily switch aggro, then if I attack it once and run away, can my friend safely hold the attack button on that mob without fear of retaliation? Another question, it feels like if I attack a nightmare creature during the nightmare phase, it draws the aggro on a bunch of others. If that's the case then when am I safe to fight off an attacking nightmare creature without drawing others to me? Is there a way to get moose goose to fight spiders? Just a few examples, but aggro seems like a super useful thing to know about. Love your channel by the way!

Do treeguards deagro on their own???
They follow the same as shadow creatures however they will not deaggro on attack.
I think the only way to unaggro them is by freezing them sleeping them or planting cones.
I think unloading does work too however it needs to be a server jump like going down into caves.

Understandable it's hard to explain strange things to people who may not interact with it much.
I personally wanted to try and give my mascot a unique voice but I could not get her to sound Natural. Ai sucks voice changers suck.
And I can't really get my own voice to get her to sound like I want her to sound.
