If you’ve never had guava jam before you are missing out. Making this fresh jam brought back so many wonderful memories of my mom and sister in the kitchen.
Men wow!!! You should have your own show on global TV, so easy to understand you and follow your instructions. Am going to try today or tomorrow, just ordered a new cooker so am not sure when it will be delivered. But I got a huge guava tree in my side yard, the iguanas, chameleons and birds have been camping at that tree for over a month now. Can't wait for results of my jam with your recipe. Love from Nairobi Kenya ❤️🇰🇪
Wow! Thank you so much! You are so sweet and kind. I appreciate that 😊. Since you have those animals camping at the tree, you might not get any if you wait too long lol, you can go ahead and boil it and get the pulp out and freeze it and when you are ready to make your jam just thaw it out. I like to do that when I have too much guava. Good luck to you. Sending lots of love to you in Nairobi 🤗❤
I was just given a box of guavas from a friends tree. I have made guava ice cream and since my husband loves guava jam/jelly I found your recipe. We are going to try it tonight. Looks easy and straight forward. My husband is excited to make this as he eats a lot of guava jelly.
Aww, lucky you to get free guavas. I wish I knew someone close by with a tree 😁. Omg! Guava ice cream sounds really good. I'll have to try to make some. I've only made guava jam and yogurt. Hope your jam/jelly turned out good 😊
Amazing wonderful video. Love your voice. You made me laugh when you said you have to stir it a million times. So funny. God bless you and your family and thanks for sharing this beautiful magnificent recipe.
Thanks for sharing your recipe with us. Sometimes I don't have time to make jam when the guava's seem to be ripening all at once and falling off our tree. So we save them to make jam later by slicing them and freezing until we have the time.
I want to say thanks for this video. I needed to use the guavas I was given but couldn’t find pectin. You explained everything so well, especially the part about testing if it’s done by making a line through the jam on the plate. I had more juice and pulp to begin with, so I knew it would take longer to cook and that simple instruction made my jam perfect. I did use less sugar (after reading other recipes). I used half the amount of sugar than guava juice/pulp and it’s delicious, but I’m sure that’s a personal preference. I did use fresh limes. But, again, thanks for a good instructional video.
Aww, you are so welcome Kathryn! So glad it turned out good for you. I like that you made the sweetness to your preference. I appreciate your feedback. Take care ❤
Thank you! I bought these guavas not aware that the fruit itself was difficult to eat since the seeds were so big and hard. Instead of throwing the fruit away, I made this jam and it wasn't as difficult as I thought! I did this with light brown sugar instead (less than 1 cup), used a fresh lime and added a pinch of salt to amplify the flavor. I reused some of my old empty jars I hoarded from other foods; that was the more concerning part since I've never canned anything before and it seems like if you skip the boiling part, you could introduce mold and bacteria into your jam.
You are so welcome! That's great that you decided to make some jam. I never thought of putting a little bit of salt in there before. I'll keep that in mind for my next batch. Thank you 😊
I just found Guava at the store today, came home and found your video and got started! I followed your recipe to the T except I had a lemon nearby on the counter so I opted for it rather than lime juice. It turned out just delicious- goodness gracious it tastes good! At the time of writing I now have them in the water bath. There was enough for two full jars, and a nice sample jar that's cooling in the fridge now, we couldn't wait till tomorrow. =) Thanks a million for this recipe, God bless!

I just made this recipe. It is delicious. I am currently boiling my jars for 20 minutes. I have never canned anything before though. Once they are processed, if all my lids pop, how should I store them? Should they be refrigerated?
Hi Maribel, glad to hear you are making guava jam, enjoy! Store the jam in a cool, dry place away from direct light. It could last up to a year but once opened store it in the refrigerator.
Wonderful! Now I’m requesting:
Oxtail dinnah
Dukunu
Chimole (black dinnah)
Fry fish
Meat pie
Jam roll
Cow foot soup
Boil up
Coconut tarts
Fry Jack
Salbutes
Do I have to strain the fruit out or can I keep it in ? I love chunky textures
The reason I strained it is to get the seeds out. The seeds are really hard you can't chew them. Maybe you can try cutting around the seeds to use the pulp.
Is there any other way for processing ... It is bit hard for me ...
Love it with tortilla!!
My colour is totally different.. it tastes awsome.. lets see after cools down..🤞
Yes Mona, different types of guava will make it look and taste different.
Thank you for sharing.😊
You're welcome 😊.
I wonder if I could juice the guava then add a little of the pulp back in to thicken it rather than straining it like you did?
I've never tried it that way but I don't see why it wouldn't work. If you try it let me know.
After boiling the guavas covered with water, do you add the water that’s in the pot while straining?
Yes I do.
Can you make this with the goya frozen guava pulp?
Yes you can. I have a video using that. Here is the link.

This is an amazing recipe! For the mason jar in water technique … what is that exactly? Sorry just haven’t seen it before! Are you vaccine sealing the jam?
Vacuum sealing *
Thank you! Yes, the purpose of the water bath is to vacuum seal the jam.
THANK YOU
You're welcome Mary 😊
Could you blend the mix than strain it?
I'm not sure how that would work to blend the seeds. If you try it please let me know if it works.
I like the recipe it looks delicious. What is the purpose of boiling the jam?
Thank you! Boiling the jam helps it to have a longer shelf life. To be honest it never last that long in my house though because we eat it out 😁.
