- Join Charlie Ottley as he ventures deep into the breath-taking but little known mountains and forests of Carpathia. Home to bears, wolves and the elusive Lynx and little known to the rest of the world, this is perhaps the last great wilderness in Europe, seen as never before. We will provide you with a unique insight into the beauty and rich culture of the region exploring its chequered history from the mystical ruins of the ancient Dacian civilisations to its medieval communities, many of which survive intact to this day. In his quest to find remote villages, cross mountains and spot bears in the wild, Charlie meets a dedicated group of individuals whose passion for this area is helping to redefine its importance as one of the great surviving wonders of the natural world. These include a Transylvanian count who is working to conserve some of the most ancient of Carpathia's medieval villages and His Royal Highness Prince Charles, who can trace his ancestry back to Romania's dark and distant past. Wild Carpathia captures the fragile majesty of a unique eco-system and shows why it deserves to be preserved in all its glory for the benefit of future generations and the survival of Europe's most endangered carnivores. The full program will show on Travel Channel via European satellite networks on October 30th at 8.00, for more info www.travelchannel.co.uk/series...
I miss my home, Romania, so much...
I'm happy to be romanian, to be part of this spectacular country. I'm happy that I had the possibility to see most of the important places here. It's truly a bless to have these mountains. I'm proud to be romanian!
Thumbs up without further ado;)
Beautiful country!!!! The place where I was born!!!! Love it!!!
Great video. Enrique

The Royal Bloodline. Grandpa Vlad and Charlie
Abia astept sa fie lansat
And that`s not all. You should see the Danube Delta and also this side of the mountains, were i`m living. This is just a small piece of our beautiful country.
DianaSisu, how about thinking of Carpathian Garden as a similar campaign? So Carpathia, Carpathian Garden, which ever suites you best. Romania's name as a country, as you've noticed, is clearly shady in European consciousness. For me it is an honor. To watch and hear HRH Prince Charles talking about my country and unequivocally promote our country. I think the real campaign here should be managed by all of us. Start a movement or something on every single site and forum all over Europe.
@papaszem44 check 1:42, thats "Sarmizegetusa Regia" , the pre-roman capital of Dacia, that is located in Transilvania. Dacians (romanians) were on these lands since the beggining of the time. In Caraș-Severin, in "Pestera cu oase" (cave with bones) were discovered the oldest human remains in Europe.
But Transilvania does belong to the people that live there, if you and anyone in EU like it so much, nobody stops you to move there.
Finally, BEFORE the Romans, Dacia and Thrace were ruled by Burebista. That was roughly modern Romania.
When the Romans left, Ptolemy wrote about the towns between the river Ister (Danube) and the Alpes Bastarnicae (Carpathians) that was Dacia.
@AndreiMichael since 1920, when it was torn apart from Hungarian Kingdom, to an attacker, but seriously defeated country, which even signed the peace treaty before the war ended.
romania,tara superba,pacat ca-i locuita....
Edom va fi cucerit;
şi-i va distruge pe supravieţuitorii cetăţii.»”
@GamingPro2
For those who posted negative comments: come and see with your own eyes - how the country (and its nature) looks like and who its people are.
@AndyMKordo I LOVE TOO. WITH ITS 1867-BEFORE BORDERS.
@grauntele Actually, a more ancient root of the name Romania is "om" which means man. This is an archaic form of colloquial Latin which many indicators show originated in this land. Many ancient people called themselves simply "people of.." or "man" which would mean that Romania originally meant simply "land of our people". Romania is much older than Rome. 160 years of Roman occupation was not enough time to Romanize this land. It was already Latin when the Romans arrived.
@sorinsorin1 "The full program will show on Travel Channel via European satellite networks on October 30th at 8.00"
Why did you delete the 45 minutes Wild Carpathia documentary?!
Thank you all for your comments however any swearing or offensive language will be removed. The aim of the programme was simply to promote Romania and the beauty of the Carpathian Mountain range to the world, not to antagonise or stir up political hatred. This is a film focussing on the environment, conservation and the vital need to preserve on of the most beautiful parts of Europe - nothing more.
So,how do we see the rest of this programme.?
Romania's landscape is awesome , we have everything.
too bad it's populated.
HaHahA ... Charles The Impaler! ... LEL!
... " I have a stake in the country " ... nice pun there ... he will stake someone with it!.. :D
@brotmitsemmel i think you can buy it :)) cred ca poti sa il cumperi sau na in romania se cumpara foarte mult de pe torenti ,nu? :)))
true story
when can we see this on TV in Romania? :)
where can we see the complete movie?
@wildcarpathia
I love your documentary! Transylvania is a wonderful place! :-)
@wildcarpathia Is it possible to change the music with the new song Nostalgy by Edward Maya? That music is very representative for our nation; it is inspired by our authentic folklore. Thank you for a reply.
I find it slightly funny how it's supposed to be a tool for Romania promoting its tourism... but it's called Carpathia... he said it himself: Carpathia is the size of Britain, which is much larger than Romania. Will he be traveling to the Ukrainian, Hungarian, Slovakian, Polish or Serbian Carpathians? I somehow doubt it :)
@RaduTomy Hehe, as vrea si eu sa-l vad, sa-mi mai spal amarul...
Congratulations, Mr. Ottley. It's a beautiful film (although I've seen only this presentation). I would like to recommend to you to make a documentary in Maramures (N-W of Romania) for the traditions and beauty you can find there.
@AndreiMichael Do not lie! Just from 1920!
@TheUncleBilly "Where does Romania get its name? From the Romans."
True. The name of our country comes from Latin. Romania means "land of the Romans" and Transylvania means "the land beyond the forest".
Why we (huns and romans) have to always fight about Transylvania? I had read all of the comments, and it's really sad...here is a beautiful natural film and here is discussion which nation's land is the beautiful land? I will whisper: all of us...romanians,hungarians,saxons and every nation's who live in Transylvania...Ultranationalism!Shut up! It's a natural film :)
🇭🇺🙏🏻❤️

Elchacha 524 What’s wrong? Transylvania is Hungarian! 🇭🇺🇭🇺🇭🇺
ZoltanSultan That’s called wishful thinking. Transilvania will never be hungarian again.
Elchacha 524 We never gave up on it!
A pornit Balaam sa blesteme poporul ales si a ajuns sa-l binecuvanteze.
''Ce frumoase sunt corturile tale, Iacove,
locuinţele tale, Israele!
Se întind ca nişte vai,
ca nişte grădini lângă un râu,
ca nişte plante de aloe sădite de DOMNUL,
ca nişte cedri lângă ape.
Apa va curge din găleţile lui
şi sămânţa lui va fi udată de ape mari.'' -

on serra d'accord, je crois: pas tout le monde profite quand quelqu'un vole un portefeuille; meme pas quand on vole un pays tout entier
Dont worry about some of the more agresive comments, we just had an agitated history, and thats still going on to these days. Thanks for all the hard work and keep it up!
May this wonderful place be preserved

@TheoO18 filelist.ro daca nu te descurci anunta-ma.
@grauntele Romania is the birthplace of indo-European and Latin languages. Romanian is the only European language to not have dialects. This indicates that Romanian is the original language of Europe. Latin tribes originated in Romania and latter migrated to the Italian peninsula and formed the Roman civilization. This means that Rome is Latin because of Romania, not Romania is Latin because of Rome. The non-Latin Etruscans were the original Italians.
travel
Carpathia, where the last untouched population of wild plastic bottles thrives
Romania is not the birth place of all Indo-European languages nor did the Romans originate from Romania. The first known inhabitants of Romania were the Dacians or Getae who were one of several Thracian tribes inhabiting eastern Europe. Romania was given it's name by the Romans who occupied the land and colonized it, eventually merging with the local population.
@brotmitsemmel cauta pe peteava.ro eu acolo l-am vazut
I'd love to stay an unknown land to the rest of the people. I don't want lots of people to invade this virgin teritories. Otherwise, they won't stay the same...
If you don't like it , get out !
@wildcarpathia the film is paradoxically focusing on promoting Romania's untamed wilderness, with the result being that more people will come and thus destroy the wilderness??? hmmm....
I need the name of the song which the trailer starts with. It's so beautiful that I need it all so I can make it the soundtrack of my life :D :D
I will always holiday in Romania.
It is a beautiful country, Full of polite, kind and helpful people.
Whenever I am there, nearly everybody friend or unknown, treats me like a guest.
I agree with Prince Charles... a rare occasion.
Thumbs up. But we are Dacians. Old Dacia was only 14% under the Roman Empire and for only 164 years. So....
Macar strainii sa aprecieze, daca noi nu suntem in stare!
@wildcarpathia I would like to say thank you in the name of all romanians to Prince Charles and travel channel.I live in London for about 10 years now , my childrean are born in London but nothing will make me stop loving my native country and I will do the best I can to let everyone know about this beautiful country.
@wildcarpathia I agree about removing swearing, racist comments about Roma, etc, they're awful. Coming back to your programme. I have no doubt it is well put together and will sell well. I'll keep an open mind about the content. Still, if you want to promote Romania and its beauty why not mention its name in the programme synopsis, for example? Why the need for Carpathia? I am sorry to be such a nuisance, but I hope you understand why I might be puzzled. Perhaps we can talk after the 30th.
really liked the documentary but it only shows a norrow vision on very few places in Romania's beautiful Carpathian forests.
these mountins offer much much more than there was presented in the documentary.
the caves, the rivers, the other amazing animals and much more.
search for:
"pestera ursilor", "ghetarul de la scarisoara", "pestera muierii", "pestera vantului", castles like "bran","peles","corvinestilor"...the monestaries in maramures and so so many more things.
Telling everyone the truth about the gypsies. Letting everyone know WE ARE ROMANIAN not gypsies and that's a fundamental difference! I personally wrote quite a number of articles all over the place about this delicate subject. WE NEED TO SPEAK OUT THE TRUTH. Let them know. Post everywhere. Repeatedly. Till they know the difference.
@romandezamagit Sad that way to many people fail to see that what you're saying is straight on.Sure on some certain level I'm proud to be romanian and I get way to easily offended when someone speaks something bad about my country but let's be honest. In the last 20 years or so the romanian people have ruined the little we had left from the comunism regime.I shouldn't generalize but the small percentage of kind hearted people that are left in Romania are a dying breed that cannot change anything
@DianaSisu So you think you could fix this just weaving the burdened name around? Well, could be, but less expected. This is a long process, Diana. Association could work as many other cases. I can't disagree with you though. I'd probably go write so more articles and spell my country's name all over the place, so they'd know the truth!
i m proud to be romanian....
I didn't even know Roumania was that beautiful. I swear
01:48 :x :x :x
@maxxxiejazz To promote Romania you mention its name repeatedly, you do not invent the ridiculously named Carpathia! It is particularly in programmes like these that we should shout ROMANIA so that it gets associated with beautiful imagery. 'Carpathian Garden' would be fine as long as you make it clear you are talking about Romania. Not 'present day Romania' as the clip says, just Romania. You don't shake off a poor image by changing your name but by changing the image associated with it.
In the first trailer they talk about the legal and the illegal logging. Romanians, watch out!!! Your beautiful inheritance might disappear sooner than you think if you keep acting irresponsibly towards it!!!
@GamingPro2 sa ti fie rusine.
@maxxxiejazz Yes, I would shout 'Romania' in spite of its image, but let's agree to disagree (vorba englezului). As you say, it is a long process so the sooner you start it, the better. I know you are all excited about the programme and that is good, but, judging from the preview clip, it does nothing for us. It avoids to mention Romania and the Romanians. It's Carpathia (????) populated by 'the locals'. Also, they only refer to Transilvania as 'present day Romania' as if they have other plans.
@GamingPro2 Sorry for your not so pleasant experience. Still, I know a lot of people who have different opinions. Not to say about statistics. This country of “wallet stealing lazy and dirty scumbags” has a low criminality rate (much lower than the US) and the second longest working week in Europe. Some information about economic growth could also help. Finally, much of the software you are using right now is made by Romanians.
@nitroerdely2 Wow, couldn't you just came up with something more intelligent?
@gogoasacenusie
Further to your comment about Romanians being natives in Transylvania. With all due respect (that is a polite way to insult somebody) it is NO business of the Hungarians to decide WHO is native in a country they invaded! It is NOT their country! No, I am not a xenophobe. I have friends from many countries, including Hungary.
@GamingPro2 Judging a nation of 21 millions by your talks with 10-20 people only is hardly an intelligent gesture. Still, I won’t fall in the trap of judging your whole nation by your attitude - which, as it is now, is not an evidence of any culture or civilization. (P.S. Hunedoara is a "county”, not a “country”).
