If it starts to make noise, just replace it. Mine teared apart last week which caused the car to overheat, made the battery dead, and power steering went out. Trust me you won’t like to be in my position.
@c.p.5741 Yes, or and pulley can make that noise. What you can do is take off the belt and start engine if noise is gone, you know it’s not the engine but one of the pulleys or the belt.
So I had a new serpentine belt installed but its now squeaking (mostly on low revs and while turning). I am pretty convinced its the belt as was not here when i installed the belt. Could they have mis-installed it? Or somethign wrong with the belt?
If it has a manual tensioner it can be too loose, if it automatic can be a bad. Also, make sure the pulleys are clean of any rust. If all good, it’s the new belt
got my hyundai accent serpentine belt replaced at a jiffy lube & only 2 months later was screeching like a banshee all over again. how often do i need to replace it?? seems to be loudest when i start it or turn the wheel.
If it’s a serpentine belt and old it should be replaced, if it’s a regular belt with manual tensioner adjust it. Soap won’t last. If the belts are in good condition try cleaning them with lacquer thinner, take them off first.
@@Motorcarnut it’s been like that for a year i didn’t feel like changing it since it was new but my timing chain tensioner leaked all over it before I got it fixed
Sometimes it can be an out of alignment pulley or yes the tensioner can be weak even though it seems tight. Don’t put any of the belt dressings they don’t work. All pulleys and belt should be clean. Maybe try cleaning the belt with lacquer thinner and all the pulleys, may help.

There are replacement intervals for every manufacturer but most people wait until something fails first.
just happened to me lmaoo
Squeekan? Lol. Great video!
Yes! Thank you!
My ford fiesta makes this exact noise when I accelerate and slowdown
spray some water on the belt and see if it temporally goes away, if it does the belt should be adjusted or replaced.
@@MotorcarnutI replaced Mines. Could it be the tensioner?

@Motorcarnut oh okay thank you 👍
@c.p.5741 No problem
Ty for this video
No problem, thanks for the comment
It making that noise but can i still drive it i gotta do work then come home
Yes
@@Motorcarnut nvm my brothers friend came over earlier and said that it's the spinning thing on the belt is it alright to still drive?
Try rotating the belt, that worked for me.
Good tip for extra use

Depends on the vehicle but every 25K miles is a good start. Maybe the belt is too loose or tensioner is bad.
Omg SAME EXACT issue here, and same car!!! 😳 did you ever find what the problem was?? Thanks 😊
I just slapped my new serpentine belt in but it still makes this noise, do you have a solution to my problem? Its a 2011 Ford Fiesta SE btw
If the new belt is still making noise, could be the pulley or out of alignment belt. make sure there is no rust on pulleys as well.
I was told its the moisture in the air. is this true? if so, what do I use to dry it? Is it OK to use a microfiber to dry it off?
@lcintron7987 Not true
Mine is broken especially when I turn on my Ac
Should replace asap
My mechanic put me on a new belt and it still squeaks when I start it about his new do you think it needs to be tightened?
If it’s not an automatic tensioner, then yes try to tighten to vehicle manufacturer specs or may have a pulley out of alignment.
He’s def from ny or jersey lol
Yes I am
so what can you use on the belt

Dieelectric grease
You never put grease on rubber belts! It deteriorates them.
Hi
Mine sounds bad
Should be replaced before it breaks
soap?
No
Lol my husband said a bar of soap mine sounds like this
That’s a temporary solution
That belt you touched is to loose
That’s not the point of the video
It only describes a reason your belt could be squealing ,
You're right completely irrelevant.
@@bobbyjohnson5637he did say the number one reason could be that it’s loose lmao.. he was giving other reasons on why it could be making the sound.
Mine good oil on it
That’s not good, will cause it to slip and deteriorate.

4.8 L, took to a shop, new belt, tight and still squeals every morning on start-up. Belt dressing didn't help. tensioner?

I tried wd40 and didn't do anything on a 2018 traverse.
You’re not supposed to put oil on the drive belts, they will slip more and deteriorate
@@Motorcarnut thanks for that, I will clean them out but. Now I know it's something else.
Did you ever find a solution? My car is doing the same thing
