i bought a 2021 Legion 5 Pro R5 5600H RTX 3060 for 700$ on ebay. i picked it up in person and checked everything. It looks like new (has been used with external monitor mouse+keyboard) the battery has still 78,5Wh /80Wh. I think if you can get a used one for less then half the price, you should do it. The new ones are just more expensive while being 10-20% faster!!
@@k.n9840 Don't. Anything below 8gigs VRAM and 16 gigs of RAM is just not worth it when there are better models with competitive prices on sale frequently.
One thing worth mentioning is the screen brightness in the new 2024 model is 500 nits, while it's just 300 nits in the older 2023 models (not sure if this applies to all 2023 though). Screen brightness is a deal breaker to me tbh, that's why I decided to go with the 2024 model instead.
Tech industry feels like it's in a dead zone at the moment, nothing going on right now. I guess the 5000 series release is the next big thing on the horizon, but we're still a few months away.
I agree. The only thing that was exciting this year was Framework's laptops. Sadly, they're still backordered, but I have my 16 inch model, and I love it!

Unfortunately, if OEMs don't put anything enticing out and Microsoft keeps gatekeeping Windows 11, I think many people won't stay with Windows. I mean, I've already left.
We're so used to seeing tech evolve so fast the moment it slowed down it got real boring. Hopefully soon, Frore AirJet comes up with something big for gaming laptops and ARM for windows takes off now that it isn't exclusive to Qualcomm.

I mean, Linux support for ARM is still not good; even though Qualcomm is apparently working with some Linux developers, the truth is that very few pieces of software that aren't FOSS work on ARM outside of macOS. Honestly, given that and the legal issues Qualcomm and Softbank are at each other, I think it might be too late for ARM on the desktop; we may have to wait for RISC-V, a RISC architecture that also happens to be royalty-free and is backed by Google for Android.
That is not totally correct. If you watch 1080p videos only then the battery life is a big improvement because it uses the new low-power efficiency cores. But anything more intensive than that then the battery life gains are nowhere nearly as significant, and for high performance work, it may be less efficient (see MaxTech XPS 14 -v- MB Air).
@@andyH_England Battery life benchmark used in this video was the PCMark Modern Office test so it probably isn't just looping a 1080p video. However, I still feel like maybe there's a typo for the older model. Can't imagine such a big change so I hope @matthewmoniz can clarify.

I am not one for benchmarks as time after time they do not reflect real life. Last gen battery life is better than stated but not by much. I tested three 13th gen ultrabooks including the LG Gram 17 and Galaxy Book 4Pro360 and battery life for a mix of web surfing and browsing is around 8 hours on 200 nits.

I got my new Lenovo legion pro 5 I love it bruh. It’s so freaking stealth machine and performs amazing. I can play Fortnite on epic setting easy. I’d definitely pick one up y’all won’t be disappointed.
I purchased the 2024 model featuring the 14900HX processor, RTX4070, and 32GB of RAM. However, in hindsight, I believe I made a poor choice. I should have selected the 14700HX model instead. The i9 tends to run excessively hot, with temperatures reaching 100% when running games like FC24 or testing benchmarks like CR23 tests, often within just 4 seconds ( I have already done undervolting which gave be better results but not lower temps). Despite Lenovo replacing the heat sink, the issue persists. They are now going to replace the motherboard. I hope this problem is isolated to my unit rather than being an issue for the 2024 model.

The most similar one I've found is Region Pro 5 Gen 8, however the one with 4060 is out of stock and no where to find. it appear on the website that the 4060 model is about $400 cheaper than the current model(which everything stays the same but GPU is now 4070). I wonder if there is a way to get this laptop with 4060 in it

It's most definitely a mid season refresh laptop it's equivalent to a steam deck OLED or more accurately like the switch OLED not much has changed a few tweaks here and there and that's it my guess Lenovo just felt like releasing a newish sameish laptop
