    I'm 29 weeks pregnant and regardless of either side that I sleep on. And how many pillows i use. I still wake up with painful hips on both sides. I mentioned this to my midwife and she suggested that I sleep on my back, propped up. I'm now lying in this position and I find it pretty comfortable so far, no pain. Just relief 😊 Will give a review to this position when i wake up 😊

    I'm at 5 months and started to have alot of hip pain at 2months... I let my seamstress made a small comfortable baby like pillow for my hips and it does help. Also I let my husband do soft massages daily which also help a lot, and I feel better. ❤.. I wish every delivery mom a healthy happy safe delivery 😊

    My hip pain literally makes me moan at night. I keep changing positions like every 30 mins.. and it just disrupts my sleep!! And I'm only in my 2nd trimester. Not sleeping at night is a real nightmare😢
    I practily sleep proped up in bed like sitting in bed, only then can I catch a few hours sleep

I’d been using a pregnancy pillow which helped a bit but not much. Since I implemented the things you recommend in this video I wake up pain free the next morning - thank you so much!

    I am in tears watching this video and reading the research, it feels like such a relief that I can adjust my sleeping positions during the night because I've been sleep deprived due to pain in my hips and knees and feeling anxious about falling asleep on my back as I am now 21 weeks. I had put a pillow behind me, preventing me from falling asleep on my back, but that left me with a lot of back pain.
    I also did the exercise against the wall with a wool dryer ball and felt a lot of relief from that as wel. Thank you so much! Love from Sweden

    I'm not sure when you filmed this but unfortunately recent research has shown that sleeping on your back in the third trimester is associated with an increased risk of stillbirth. I was advised by both my maternal-foetal medicine specialist and a midwife to avoid that position and there's also recently been a lot of public health messaging on the topic in Australia.

      They say not to lie FLAT on your back. As long as you are propped up to either the right or the left, you should be good. Back sleeping after 28 weeks was physically painful for me and I could tell immediately that it cut off blood circulation.

    It’s true what you said about sleeping positions… I read not to sleep on my back when I was 4 weeks in so it’s been basically 7+ months of side sleeping. Some days I cry in pain. I’ll also try propping myself up high.

    • @BeyondBirthingPelvicFloorPT
      @BeyondBirthingPelvicFloorPT  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is true but in that case it would trigger symptoms for the mama such as being nauseated, light headed, short of breath or just wouldn’t feel right. That is why going off of symptoms is OK. But in any case follow your intuition - if sleeping on your back triggers more anxiety than anything, then avoid this position :)

    • @BeyondBirthingPelvicFloorPT
      @BeyondBirthingPelvicFloorPT  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Also note that this situation would happen more likely after the 30th week of pregnancy, not in early pregnancy / second trimester. Check out this study: www.nichd.nih.gov/newsroom/news/092019-pregnancy-sleep-position

    • @BeyondBirthingPelvicFloorPT
      @BeyondBirthingPelvicFloorPT  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Carole! Thanks for reaching out. Like I said, we want to try and alternate between right and left side, and even on the back can be OK if you don't present symptoms of dizziness/shortness of breath/nausea - but check with your medical provider to make sure. If there is no medical reason for you to be sleeping only on your left side, then you should try and vary your positions through the night. No one is meant to stay still while sleeping. Even a non pregnant person would have hip pain if they were sleeping only on the left side through the entire night. And yes sleeping on the left can sometimes cause pain on the right depending on mattress' firmness, body alignment etc. Varying positions a lot would be my advice and using sleep props. Hope this helps.
