    Hiii this was very helpful, I come from a strong customer service background and I’m looking for a career change.
    Since I don’t have a bachelors degree I’m researching task,duties and just commonly used lingo. This makes me feel confident moving foward.
    I thought recruiters were given warm leads and applications through the company but I’m learning it’s kinda like being a freelancer where you have to get your own leads as well. That’s super interesting

    • @RecruiterPreston
      @RecruiterPreston  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You get your own leads if you’re working for yourself or you work at an agency. If you’re in house, you only reach out to candidates!

      Everything you said is exactly where I am in my career change to recruiting. I have a strong background in customer service and am doing research on the recruiting fold because I don’t have a degree. May I ask how you’ve progressed in your pursuit to change careers?

    I did and if I go back will do Exec talent do you really need an ATS. Its not like I am doing cattle calls. Now back in the day it was The Morgan planner which is a glorified notebook, today i would just salesforce or some crm, where I keep do job orders and candiates sheets with in the system. Keeping it simple.

    You're so right! People ask me the same question all the time and I think what most new agency recruiters dont get is that YOU NEED TO CUSTOMIZE YOUR ATS TO FIT YOUR NEEDS!!! Most people expect it to be set up for them automatically (very few are). I enjoy using crelate and their customer service is on point. From my experience, Bullhorn is nice, but the customer service of the team lacks substantially. Curious to know what ATS you and your team use? Thanks for sharing Preston!

    I am a recruiter that works for one accountancy firm of 80-100 employees. We are always looking for experienced tax preparers, tax managers, Audit seniors, and Trust and estate accountants. Since I am only one person hiring for one firm which app do you think would be best to keep me organized. I do not plan on ever hiring for any other firm as my husband is a partner at the firm I work for. Which app would be easiest for me to use to keep in contact of applicants currently going through the hiring process as well as potential candidates, passive job seekers...etc.

    • @michaellais4378
      @michaellais4378 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is why these things are a problem…do you have any real idea how many people want a job like that? But you can’t find them. Why? Because they’re not searchable.
      The small business owner that prepped taxes for their business for 10 years on multi million dollar accounts who wants to change careers…that resume says they own a business. You will never find him by “googling” tax prep. Know what I mean?
      I’m not trying to sound like a troll…just noticing that there is a huge gap between seekers and hirers and I want to bridge that.

    • @michaellais4378
      @michaellais4378 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      To build on things…imagine that business owner spent 10 years prepping and managing the taxes for his business. 10 million a year in revenue…and always in compliance with the IRS.
      Then…that guys business catches fire and poof, it’s gone. He needs a job. Has 10 years experience with Tax prep. Just doesn’t know that. How do you and him connect?
      His application will get rejected by your ATS, and your “passive search” he won’t even be close to appearing. He calls, but you don’t take calls for the job. If he gets someone they say “apply online” which plops him right back to it.
      Let’s solve this issue. We’re dealing with people, and the human element is very difficult to algorithm up.

    Do you have any advice on how to get through these as a job seeker? I get that we live in a world that leans into technology to make life easy. I also have been victim of this stuff completely ruining everything.
    For example…I have 15 years experience in event producing, and global logistics. I have also received hundreds of rejection letters that were automated rejections without a human seeing my stuff. Simply because my words were not their words.
    If you are a recruiter, and you look for candidates that “coordinate”…and my resume says “I have coordinated” I do not appear because of the “d” and then get rejected. Because the tense of my word didn’t match the tense of your word. Even though in context, both uses of the word are correct.
    From a job seekers prospective, it makes me want to just copy and paste everything into my resume. If I want to go from Lawyer to Consultant…I don’t say lawyer…I say consultant. Which…ok if that’s the game, but nobody knows that game, including me, and if I’m being totally honest…ATS’ make people starve.
    Plumbers shouldn’t have to know how to code to get plumbing jobs. But with these, they kinda do.
    Please explain how job seekers can manipulate their stuff since that seems to be part of the equation as well.
    We hear all the time “I can’t find an employee” as often as “I can’t find a job” and the reason is because both seekers aren’t connecting, or talking. They’re typing into a computer. Hoping that computer figures it out.

  • @syb3x_
    @syb3x_ 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    As someone who will employee recruiters, does anyone have recommendations for a software which has a lot of features, ATS functions, but will also allow us to convert those recruits to a employees and focus on talent retention/management for our non-recruit staff? New to this level of the recruiting world. Thanks for the advice ahead of time! Definitely drop a sub!

    • @syb3x_
      @syb3x_ 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most important detail is we will not be looking for hr software. We will be recruiting 1099 contractors and won’t be directly paying them, only focusing on growth, management and collaboration of the team on each contractor.
