"75% of qualified jobs seekers are being rejected by ATS due to readability issues" - Then the ATS isn't doing it's job! If 75% are being rejected, it's no wonder why companies "can't find qualified candidates." ATSs should be fixed BEFORE they're used as gatekeepers. This is hurting workers AND companies.🤦♂
@@robinjoseph8925This is such a "Stay In your place" mindset... Imagine if Martin Luther King JR thought the same way, the world would be SO different.... "Oh, well... It is what it is. I guess I just don't have rights 🤷♂️. Better make the best of it" like wtf 😂😂
While I appreciated the information in this video, ATS has made a job seeker's life exponentially more difficult. Trying to tailor your resume to each job description with an arbitrary number of key words & phrase (Remember there are hundreds of ATS's out there) is time consuming and not always successful, even if you hit the magical 75% or more match percentage. And many ATS's are flawed for numerous reasons.
You are lucky if they can scan your resume. Mostly ATS require retyping resume into forms. So, what ATS is really testing is your patience and typing ability.
Sinead I watched so many videos and no matter how much I thought I knew, I found them all super helpful, especially about the salary. I had a 15 minute phone interview this morning for a job I really wanted so I over prepared and when it came time to talk about my salary expectations, we ended up having a hilarious conversation about it and it ended with her tell me the salary. Worked out great, thanks!
did some testing and found out that even if you upload a cv to the indeed ats scanner , it jus tricks you and still scans your default indeed resume. no matter how many times I tried with different documents.I knew it was too good to be true.
Ok Needs to be said because many of you are thinkin it and not saying it so i will do the honors :) ..Sinead is Meghan Markle's doppelganger. if they were to ever make a movie about her...just sayin 😄
This is junk. Most ATS's don't grade or rank resumes. Most of my peers in recruiting don't use the ranking if they have them. The rests of this video is not really useful either. The pdf/doc is the most useful part.
When will hiring companies and recruitment agencies learn that even the best machine cannot find the best human? The best humans are generally those that stand out - it seems ATS parsing is based largely on the structure and formats of the 95% of candidates whose CVs/resumes don't stand out.
I tried to run my resume through ATS. I have 2 education experience, a bachelor's degree and a certificate of achievement. The ATS can only get the certificate and showing my present my heighest education level as certificate of achievement.😢
"Take the time to tailor your resume to the job description". Forgot to mention that could take 15 - 30+ minutes to "tailor your resume" to each job description.
I lost so much respect for Indeed after their Equal Pay commercial - which is based off a debunked study. Why are we talking advice from Indeed if they are clearly politically motivated and using inaccurate skewed statistics…
Sinead, I am observing my son that is in the Junior year of a great University, GPA 3,7.speaks 4 languages, double major, apply for summer internships. And ZERO Interest in his resume. As there are no clear answers for why this is happening.I suggested him to change being :White, male, for one of the gazillion options like :trans, black, with disability to see what happens. I really think there is a HUGE racism over being a white male in America now a days.
🤣 It's so hard out there for white cisgender men. Set your privilege aside for a moment and think about the decades of nonwhite people being *lawfully* excluded from employment, government loans and grants, education including public universities, public transportation, shops, the military unless there was an active war where the country needed disposable labor, and housing. Think of the most recent decades of all that discrimination be unlawful yet extant. Now tell your white male son to try harder to rise to the top of the resume pile. I truly hope your son finds a job soon. But if he doesn't, it's not because he is a white male in America.

So well said.
Totally agree
True. We all feeling it. Hopefully they'll improve th software
It doesn't matter what we feel. What exists, exists. We should be changing our approach instead as mentioned in this video

Functionally - ATS is simply ineffective. There is no excuse in 2024 to not be able to read data from a table in a PDF.

Finally a clear information on how I should be updating my resume to meet the ATS filtering. Thank you Indeed.
Glad it was helpful!

How about just not having an ATS and let the EMPLOYER chose the resume?
thats a lot more time consuming like they suggested in the video.
This video is fantastic, very clear and very concise, one of the best CD videos I've ever seen!
Great stuff, indeed. Thank you!

Awesome video. Thanks for sharing.

great, so in addition to needing a laundry list of coinciding skills I also need to be an HR professional.
ATS is insane.
Hi Sinead, you are the best.
Please take care of your plants in the video, it seems they are not healthy.

Ayo its Sinead from Collider/AMC! Great to see Sinead still killing it
Hi, thanks for the advice, but your resume scan link shows up blank. I am looking for a free ATS scanner. Does indeed provide that?
one question - is it possible to leave out dates on resumes and pass the ATS?

Great work Sine'ad, simple, clear and informative - DA (silicon valley)
There are no videos for us to click on up in the corner like you mentioned.

The fact that ATS cannot read anything than a plain resume makes it a useless tool for recruiters!
