They offered him double riverun and instead of giving him the Twins which would provide an income equal to high lords, Tyrion is just like “yeah let’s give him control of the entire nations food supply”
Glendon did not offer his sister’s maidenhood, she offered if herself in exchange for his knighthood. He did not know, or more likely didn’t want to know she did that for him.
What I like about Glendon is that on a deeper level, even though he probably isn't Quentyn Ball's, he sought to be a worthy knight and it didn't really matter if that was his father. It was the fire that it stirred within him and I think that George is nodding at the reader with that.
Idc what they say… That’s Fireballs son! I loved the ending despite all of the torture and unfair treatment he suffered he was still able to hand Daemon II Blackfyre his ass
I like this series. Keep them coming. I actually like the more obscure "blink and you miss them" characters. I'd love a series on just random obscure characters. Like Guy "Glutton" Lothston, or Joffrey "Red Dog" Doggett.
Yesss definitely make this a series and finish off the rest of the house bastards. I love hearing the jist of these amazing characters when writing my own. Ps - You have the perfect voice/cadence for reading the segments of deep fantastical worlds, keep it up for the love of God!
Yes, Make More ! Each Region ! Been a long time subscriber. I watch/listen to ASOIAF videos while going to bed. I love this universe. But after so many years, it’s difficult to find lore videos I haven’t seen a thousand times before. Your videos are refreshing. You cover different subject matter that I haven’t even considered. Keep up the good work !
Aww hell yeah, I was watching through your catalogue of videos an hour ago while I painted warhammer minis, liked the bastard child videos and here you are with a fresh release!
I'd love for you to do a video on characters we need to see/read in The Winds of Winter. For example, I would like to see Ser Willas Tyrell, the heir to Highgarden. He's only mentioned a few times but he is mentioned as being as cunning as his grandmother, Oleanna. I'd also like to see Ser Davos's wife Marya and Brienne's father Lord Selwyn. Now that the Golden Company are in charge of the Stormlands, we may see them. There's also Lord Lytton Hightower, who's locked himself in his tower in Oldtown, for mysterious reasons. Finally there's Lady Gemma Lannister, Tywin's sister. She married one of Walder Frey's sons, and when Riverrun is taken, she and her husband are given it. She's described as loveable and everyone's favourite. Now that Tywin and Kevan are dead, she might emerge as a motherly figure to Cersei and Jamie. Have I missed any more?
Watch Quinn the GM's theory on a mysterious captain. Chances are that he is carrying Robb's Will and even more likely a bastard, the only known bastard, child of Theon Greyjoy.
Just went through your video history to get me through this trip and I have watched every upload of yours these last 6 years. I appreciate you bro. we’ve been waiting for WOW together it feels like
Did I miss something? How come you didn’t mention Satin Flowers? I feel like he is the Flowers that we’ve spent the most time with in the books so far.
Yeah the young fireball was a great character in the dunk & egg stories, he embarrassed the Blackfyre pretender after being tortured and beaten. AND YES FULL SERIES
I really liked this video, and I'd love to see more. The bastards of Westeros never get enough attention, and there's a lot of them to talk about. Mya Stone, Cotter Pyke, Edric Storm, Aurane Waters, all of the Sand Snakes. I think it would be cool.
Also, WTF did no one bothered building a fortress on the mouth of the Mander? Would have at least put one more obstacle should the Shields fall, as finally happened.
So this naming convention was post-conquest? Coz if it's not then the large previously independent islands (Arbor, Bear, Tarth, etc) would have developed their own naming conventions.
The Arbor, Bear island and Tarth hadn’t been independent in thousands of years. The names almost certainly formed pre conquest, since there was characters like Addison Hill who followed this tradition despite being born before the conquest. My guess would be that it came around during the time when there was still 8 kingdoms in Westeros. The only exception to this is probably Waters, since the Crownlands weren’t their own region and were just a mix of the Riverlands, Stormlands and Reach before Aegon.
Bear Island seems to pass on legitimate names even via women born in the family, which is why Jeor Mormont is not worried that his son is also an outcast as his sister's children also pass on the name. Tarth and the Arbor have been vassals of the Stormlands and Reach since the Andal times at least so they don't have a tradition of independence. Places that were not Andal-ized like the Iron Islands and the North also have naming traditions for bastards so it is even pre-Andal. the only truly independent part of Westeros is beyond the wall where no one gets married, so no one is a bastard.
You never did do a video for the hill children, Tyrion even takes the name of Hugor hill, which is interesting bc the founders of house Tarley were twin brothers named Hugor of the hill and Hernden of the horn Edit: you’ve always never done a waters children video, that one is super interesting there’s even a Targaryen bastard descendent family that were raised to lords and became House Longwaters
In what order should one read all these books? I looked it up once, but it only mentions the books from the current storyline; I never even heard of half of the books you mentioned.
Glendon Flowers. Beaten, tortured, and framed for a heinous crime. Forced to joust against a fresh-faced opponent to gain his freedom.. "My father died for his. I would have been his man, and gladly. I would have fought, killed for him, died for him. But I could not lose for him."
The Reach is all about chivalry and honor. Only for D&D to put Bronn to rule it in the end.. wtf
And Master Of Coin too iirc!
They offered him double riverun and instead of giving him the Twins which would provide an income equal to high lords, Tyrion is just like “yeah let’s give him control of the entire nations food supply”
@@diegoandrade467 giving him the twins would have made so much more sense and he’d still be rich from the bridge
@@plutocrasy2115 Indeed. that would have ben a smart move
That's what they want you to believe, it's really a cesspool for corruption and scheming
Glendon did not offer his sister’s maidenhood, she offered if herself in exchange for his knighthood. He did not know, or more likely didn’t want to know she did that for him.
May Flowers
hi whycreate, can you make a video about daenerys' genealogy
Are you going to do a hill children next?
Cool video! You missed one though: Blackshield the Bastard of Uplands.
Hi whycreate, can you make a video of spiderman family tree and thor's family tree, plz.
How about Waters children? This is exciting as we'll see bastards of Valyrian descent as well.
I really need more & more videos about The Reach
whycreate: The Reach, a kingdom so pleasant and peace-
Euron Greyjoy: hold my salt wife's tongue
I like this series. Keep them coming. I actually like the more obscure "blink and you miss them" characters. I'd love a series on just random obscure characters. Like Guy "Glutton" Lothston, or Joffrey "Red Dog" Doggett.
Walys flowers effectively started the southern ambitions and fall of the Targaryens as part of the grand maester conspiracy
I think storm would be fun for the next, you could even do one for bastards across the narrow sea like you did for your map video.
both Edric and Rolland are interesting characters we meet and I am sure there are more that I just don't immediately recall.
What is dead may never die. But be reborn anew! Love this channel.
Yesss definitely make this a series and finish off the rest of the house bastards. I love hearing the jist of these amazing characters when writing my own.

Aww hell yeah, I was watching through your catalogue of videos an hour ago while I painted warhammer minis, liked the bastard child videos and here you are with a fresh release!
whycreate, make this a whole series man! I love this stuff
I'd love for you to do a video on characters we need to see/read in The Winds of Winter. For example, I would like to see Ser Willas Tyrell, the heir to Highgarden. There's also Satin Flowers, the Personal Steward of Jon.
4:58 I haven't even read the books but I know how it turns out for her. George sure doesn't shy away from the bleak.
