2:22 You said something very wrong.
Winds from Arabian sea run for hot Tibetan plateau Low pressure & Himalayan ITCZ.
This is called South West Monsoon.
      It has two branches
      1) Arabian sea branch along West coast (Kerala, Goa, Mumbai & most of Northern India),
      2) Bay of Bengal branch parallel to East coast (parallel that's why no rain in Tamil Nadu in summer)
Bay of Bengal branch converse from Eastern Himalaya (from Arakan yoma between India and Myanmar) towards northern India along with Himalayan foothills & Ganga Brahmputra Plains.
Both branches meet in 1) Northern most state, the state of Jammu & Kashmir and
      2) Central province in central India
East coast (except Tamilnadu) get most of its rain from Cyclones & "some from retreating monsoon.
Tamilnadu get "most of its rain from retreating monsoon or winter monsoon.
High Himalayas & Northern India get their Winter rain from Western disturbances arising from Mediterranean sea & Black sea.

You reversed the direction of wind.
During summer Indian subcontinent and Tibetan plateau heats up.
So air heats up and rises above creating a low pressure atmosphere.
Meanwhile at the same time in southern hemisphere (Indian ocean) its winter time.
Therefore cold air from high pressure environment rushes to Indian subcontinent.
This wind travels all across huge Indian ocean carrying all the moisture from ocean and enters India.
This is called Advancing monsoon(June- September) . This wind flows from South to North. (From ocean to subcontinent)
This moisture can't go beyond Himalayas because high mountains act as a barrier.
Meanwhile, at the end of September, the subcontinent is cooler as compared to southern hemisphere (because at this time southern hemisphere is in front of sun) .
Therefore Indian subcontinent is no longer low pressure zone, rather its slightly high pressure zone as compared to South of Indian ocean.
This is why this moisture carrying air retreats back to ocean.
This phenomenon is called Retreating Monsoon (October- November). This winds flows from North to South.
Retreating Monsoon contain less rain, because most of the moisture are already lost during Advancing monsoon season.
Our population is very dependent on this monsoon.
But sadly we are witnessing initial days of Climate change. This is resulting to change in rain pattern and unpredictability.
Take Tamil Nadu for example, the state was facing drought from 2017. On the other hand, some part of country is facing floods resulting in crop destruction.
And untimely monsoon is also an problem, because even if you receive same amount of rain but at different months then its a problem, because each crop has its own season.
This why farmer distress is a big political issue.

    • @Just_forfun9140
      @Just_forfun9140 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Wow, you know it. This is how the weatherman/woman on TV explain. I don't understand why no one thought of building reservoirs or diverting excess water from going into the ocean to areas where there is a need, this way you avoid flooding, and droughts to huge extent. Its a massive project, why not employ the masses of unemployed like US did during the Great depression to build the roads, dams etc.
Maybe Ben is planning on becoming a God, he is giving a preview of what is to come, after he becomes a God, he is going to reverse it !!.

    Hey Jenks, hello from London...
In thala Ajith's 'Villain' movie there's a song 'Aadiyile kathadicha, Aippasiyil mazhayadikkum...' (the phrase means.. When its windy by the Tamil month of Aadi that starts around July mid, then it will be rainy by the month Aippasi which started this year on 18th October. That's just one complex pattern of the Monsoons)
Friends, Nanbargale... even though this guy makes awesome videos all the time, this one contains a huge error in the explanation about monsoons. Please learn about the monsoon pattern from wiki or somewhere else.
There is a reason why South-West Monsoon blesses her first showers over Trivandrum, Kerala. And the geo-explanation you gave is a blunder and totally wrong. And please don't call them as first and second monsoons.
You are there in India for about three years. If you want to really understand the culture, socio-economic diversity, life style, politics or anything else social, just observe and understand the monsoons. That's the backbone of every aspect of the glorious Sub -Continent (May be even follow the monsoon from its start and make a series. You will be full of content for 8-9 months starting from June.) Of course you don't need to understand any of these geographic details for just relaxing and experiencing the life there and vlogging, but if you are making content on it, please give importance to the facts and try to learn before you speak. This could spread false knowledge to many.
Just a rough note the movement in land: the South-West monsoon starts from Kerala and goes North and turns towards East and after reaching the far East, gets deflected down towards South as the North-East monsoon. And, literally, there are ginormous more things you can learn about monsoons.
Will be very much happy if you make a video to explain that pattern mentioned in that song. i.e, why? why was it windy then and why if it was windy then, it would be rainy now? I swear you will not be bored if you search for the answer.

I belong to the North East and we also have something locally called kalboishakhi a.k.a Norwesters (other regional names exist too) towards the eastern parts of the country and Bangladesh. It is the pre monsoon season and unlike monsoons, we don't get continuous rains during that time. It's more of sudden thunderstorms with high winds but last for only a short while.. I, personally, love that and it is my favourite season right before monsoon..

Hey Jenks : did you know that the word monsoon was actually first used in context of India.
North West monsoon -- 15th June to 15th August. Avoid entire India
South East monsoon -- 15th November to 15th January. Avoid Tamilnadu. It is also known as the return journey or the going back of the monsoon.
Stay safe. In hot and dry places like Tiruvannamalai, a lot of snakes (also poisonous ones) come out in the shallow waters in the humidity after the rains (to do you know what). Always take a torch with you in the dark. They enter ground floor of houses also.

Yes. Monsoon in India is special. The first shower is itself awesome in the way the temperature falls and the incredible aroma of petrichor pervades the air.
Goan Tourism promotes a monsoon package. Monsoon is the best time to view the Jahaz Mahal in Mandu, Madhya Pradesh and learn about its romantic legend. Taj Mahal being hit by sheets of rain is a sight to behold. The mountains of Western Ghats at Lonavala and Khandala swathed in clouds of rain look dramatic and magical waterfalls appear. In the northern plains the season usually begins with hail storms that make the ground look snow-covered.
Indian classical music has ragas dedicated to the rainy season. Bollywood revels in filming sensuous rain sequences.

Hey Benjamin - just a couple of points on the monsoons - the 'monsoon' season for India is only summer - June to August. And contrary to the figure / diagram you showed, its believed to be due to Jet Stream and South Westerly monsoon winds from Arabian Sea bringing rain to Western India - Kerala, Maharashtra, Goa then MP and northwards. It's not so much cold air from Himalayas resulting in condensation over South west India. Places to avoid are - Himachal Pradesh and Uttrakhand - including North East (Bagdogra to Gangtok and Darjeeling -I know through personal experience).
Places to see - Karnataka, Kerala (both subject to the rains), MP and Nilgiris the lush greenery is something to behold.
Also to keep away the mosquitoes, two things you should add to your travel kit - one is the spray / ointment - Odomos and the other is the plug-in bug repellant.

That was a great video mate, but the facts about the monsoon winds are somewhat mixed up. South west monsoon winds are from Arabian Sea towards Himalayas which gets divided into two branches off the southern peninsula ,one going within western ghats bringing rain for the whole west coast towards Himalayas; other branch through Bay of Bengal towards Bengal and east Khasi hills bringing torrential rain in north east India . Once the south west monsoon fades, the dry cool air from Himalayas are drawn towards the Bay of Bengal which brings moisture from the sea towards Tamilnadu and Andhra coast . These winds are called North east monsoon winds. I appreciate your content brother. Cheers

Good vlog, but others with knowledge in the comments are saying you got it wrong the monsoon patterns.
If you have time consider making vlogs a bit longer, maybe 15-20 minutes. Deepavali is going on, would be interesting to see how people where you live in the area are celebrating during night and day.
Are there any special occasions celebrated unique to where you are, for eg. maybe birthday of Ramana maharishi.
