I've been going to school most of my life with little success, and struggling with little motivation. Now I've decided to take on a part time job to buy an BRZ/86/FRS. That passion really gets me going.
Man, I was depressed in high school with no friends and no real ambitions, and then my mom bought me a car model id never even heard of, some shitty 4 door Chevy cobalt sport. On the outside it looked like any car, slow like an economy car, and keep it under 3.5k rpm and it also feels like an economy car. But, if that car wants to go you let it go, and it'll go quicker than just about anything. Shit got me really into cars, and now I'm 18 almost 19 and on track to get my ASE certification and become a mechanic somewhere. If it wasn't for that unassuming car I probably wouldn't even have a job right now, I'd probably be failing to find the motivation to do anything like I was before.

@@sazzyPheox Yeah, my car is starting to die so I was planning, if I can't get an rx7 FC for a reasonable price in good condition then im definitely going to get an SS and going to try and get a supercharged one.
@@loonyshots5879 That's a sick ride, I have a Sky redline(same motor as the turbo SS) It's a fun ride, if you get one you will love it! My friend has the supercharged SS and it's practically the same on the straight, a tad slower on the launch(fwd) and the midrange(turbo spike) but at the top end it hangs right there with me 'til we have no more go juice.
Dude, I think we had much the same childhood. I too named all the cars I saw as a kid, love cars to this day, as well as Zoids, Transformers and Hot Wheels!! Great video!
Getting into cars changed my life. I was a loser when I was 20. But then I finally got motivated and got my first car. It was 800$ and it was a 2002 Toyota Corolla. It was an awesome car. Put a lot of miles on it. I learned to fix it whenever it broke or someone broke into it. My first diy was a window replacement. My next car was a 7000$ impreza 2011 hatch, loved it. Financed and payed it off early. Eventually the motor went but then I got a 2004 WRX, payed cash. First manual, first turbo car, first modded car. I was hooked. And this whole time, I noticed my income kept climbing and climbing. I was motivated by mods and paying off my cars. I then got a G37 cash and up to that point it was the best car I owned. It was fast, comfy, relatively spacious, fun to drive. I took excellent care of it in many respects. I changed the oil religiously, even if I had to do it outside my apartment myself and dump the oil at my local shop. I did the brakes, calipers, subframe, tires, bcm, fixed leaks, control arms, sways, endlinks, intakes, exhaust, and more. Most of which I did myself, except the control arms. Then it started having transmission issues as it got up in miles but my friend taught me to swap it because hes a master mechanic. I ended up having to swap it two more times after that, used transmissions kept going out and I was able to do it by myself for the most part. I just needed help lifting it and aligning it back in. Then it went again and at this point I had run out of patience. Sold it and got a BMW. I love this thing. It fit the budget, fast af when tuned, and it handles like a sports car should. Its faster than a corvette c7 gs and handles better than a 370z nismo. I love it.
@@Tachyon836 quite a few cars you’ve went through man, but it’s awesome to see the incremental progress up until what you’re in now. Glad you’re loving it!
This video reminds me of the love I have for my 92 honda accord. That car has been the core car through my childhood. It’s the car that pretty much got me interested in cars at such an early age. Nice video man, nice video.
Throughout middle and high school, i had a lot of problems. No work ethic, kept skipping class, etc. but then, i saw a bright blue NA miata in a parking lot. The cute little smile on that car really got to me, and I talked to the owner about what it was. She was super nice about it, and showed me around a bit. I remember she named it Cleo. i began to really want an NA of my own. I got a job, and started working hard in school. Through one of the in-school clubs i joined, i found out that the Miata girl also went to the same school. We became good friends, and after a few years, i earned enough to buy my own NA miata, which is a red '91, which i named Tony. There were days when i'd call her just to ask her if she'd join me for a drive, to which we'd eventually find ourselves racing each other home so that we'd get there before curfew. Fast-forward to now, and we live together with both miatas in my garage, and we've been together for almost two years. TLDR: girl introduced me to Miatas. one miata later, and she's my girlfriend. Car changed my life.
I've always liked cars, but I’m not really a fan of the community surrounding it. Recently, I've found myself drifting away from cars as they don't hold the same appeal for me anymore. I’ve loved cars since I was little, but over the past few months, I’ve realized how narrow my focus has been. So, I started exploring new interests like football. While I still think about cars every day, my involvement is steadily declining. For many, cars can be a form of escapism during tough times, but I believe it’s important to eventually move on and grow beyond that.
I have always liked cars but I was far more of a horsepower fetishist obsessed with super cars or classic muscle, power figures and 0-60 times were the only thing I cared about and I never considered driving experience to be a real factor. When I was 16 and looking for a project I was told my grandfather had an old miata squirrelled away, now I'm going into college with a 1990 all white, na mx5 with less than 20k miles on the clock, and I never knew I could be this happy with any car.
On the motorcycle side of things check out the series Super Cub. An introverted girl with not much going on finally has enough of the long uphill she has to climb on her bicycle on her way to school buys a Honda Super Cub & it helps bring her out of her shell.
I recently got engaged to my long-time girlfriend, and she has a 2007 impala that I've never felt anything for, especially compared to my 96 civic that got totaled a few years ago. I took a long break from the car scene after I lost that car. Just the other day, I was scrolling Facebook marketplace, not really looking for a car, and I found my dream car, a 1978 Datsun 280z, and it's got all the mods I like on it. It's not in perfect condition, but the price is so good, I didn't want to pass it up. I talked to my fiancé about it, and she decided, if I could get a loan and not miss a payment, I could get the car. I'm picking it up this weekend. I feel the best things in life come when you're not looking for them.
As my first car I got an ‘07 Volvo S60 2.5T and when you were summarizing My Favorite Carrera I saw a lot of myself over the past year or so in the main character. It started with learning how the car worked, then moved to how to maintain, wash, and care for it, now it’s an appreciation for the car that’s always present. It’s not the best car by any means but it’s well build like your Lexus and I love the quality of the car despite being 17 years old. Thank you for making this vid, I think this is something a lot of people need to hear
There's some irreplaceable feeling of having a large amount of displacement and power beneath your bonnet, a monster you can unleash with nothing but half a kilogram of force... And, just, gently cruising. Letting that beast basically idle you down the road. It's, so nice.
Inherited my mom’s 96 Lincoln Town Car after she passed last year and I’ve been putting in hours of work to maintain and keep it running. Feels good to own a part of her legacy in a way
For some reason i just had such a vivid flashback of when i was 5, was sitting in the back seat of my grandpa's Citroen Ami8 and him and grandma driving up a mild slope on a village road near the house they had, back in Serbia. Grandpa was revving up the engine before shifting (602ccm engine with three on board needed some juice) into third and i remember the flashing sunlight, sheepskin seats and smell of gasoline inside the car. This car was the beginning of my love with cars, and an irreperable tragedy for me, since i couldn't save it. due to everything, war included, it was left to rot away on a meadow. one and only car i ever truly wanted, a beat up, white, hand painted Ami with moss on window frames.
@@bluemoondiadochi not everyone’s dream cars a supercar, sorry to hear you couldn’t keep it man, clearly it was special to you I’m sure one day another will cross your path
@@Viseak Thank you! You're right, it doesn't have to be a supercar, and I guess people who love nuggets (small cars), ordinary cars and clunkers also need hat tipped to them. car love is car love, if a car puts smile on your fact, it's enough. you know that feeling, walking away from your car and always turning to look at it again cuz it's so beautiful and you have to smile at it? Now I have a small shiny 95 Toyota Starlet and I do that. Sounds stupid, but i love it. And i think that's also the essence of your video, of how a car influences your life. it can make all the difference! and for me, this P8 has made all the difference since i bought it. I'm also eyeing a Mercedes 190 series or perhaps a Citroen CX down the road, but gotta say, nothing will ever come close to that Ami. Not even another Ami. So i'll just leave it in the divine realm. going through life you gather the scars, it's just how it is. And I didn't mean to gloom up the comment section, it just came out spontaneously.
Slow Diesel Bimmer owner here, I have owned a few cars, but only once I got into old 3-series BMW's did I truly let the feeling of a car changing my mood. I owned a Civic before jumping into an E36, and I thought I had to zoom everywhere, and the E36 taught me that cruising with the window down can be equally, if not more rewarding, than zooming the back roads. And that car could also do backroads. Now I own an (even slower) E30, and the feelings i get from driving it, the smiles, nothing in this world makes me happier.
"Old" bmw gives you that I have a z4 e89 23i, and I love cruising in it as much as throwing in backroads. The atmosphere in the cabin is what makes the difference, the gauges, for me, the long black hood, the sound of the exhaust that bmw nails really well in terms of being just loud enough... I visited my family not that long ago, 700km of highway ride, and I have no regulator. Arriving I still felt like I missed an hour or two of driving
To me its amazing hearing about these stories, its so interesting to hear what they consider relatable. Living in the third world having an mr2 would be as difficult as the avarage Japanese salary man to have an Countach

Thanks for the recommendation for Countach! I've been picking it up ever since I watched the video and i've been loving it ever since. Everything about it is just incredible and there's alot of artwork pages with detailed scene and they really go hard. The character dynamics are also an absolute joy! I've always loved cars since my dad grew me around then, and it was really cool learning more about the different cars and their backstories in the manga. On a side note: I love how often Shun gets depicted as a raging bull to reference Lamborghini during funny moments. It felt great to read such an amazing automotive manga.
In 2011, I burned out of college. Found out shortly after, the college counselors did not diagnose my Aspergers. I had to accept I was used for my loans. 2014, I almost bought an 80s MR2 for $600. It got sold under me...then an XR4Ti came up for sale...rust belt car...did not matter. Decade later, the car is boardering on autoX beast, rust free, and wouldnt want to drive anything else. I had a similar experience I never paid attention to cars when I was younger I couldn’t tell you difference between a Toyota and Honda but when I turned 17 I got my first car 2008 manual vw gti and before even driving it I watched every video on TH-cam about it which eventually led me to watch more videos and love cars. The thing that topped it off is when the gti got an exhaust blow off valve and intake it changed the game for me every pull would put a huge smile on my face.
My family never own a car, I grew up in somewhat bigger than village, smaller than town place. In childhood I was almost obsessed with cars. Sadly I have an extreme motion sickness - so bad that I can't even be passenger in taxi, bus, or board train without medicine (which not always helps), and especially I can't get a licence as I grew up (I tried, and after 5 minutes on a test field I stopped the car and jumped out into bushes.) In games I have no problem driving them on my cheap steering wheel.
I’m a decade older than you, but your maturity and outlook truly impress me. Like you, I developed an interest in cars and machines at a young age, which also naturally drew me to mecha-themed anime like Zoids and Gundam. Thanks to the support of my parents and the people around me, I’ve been fortunate enough to have a career centered around operating vehicles. I have no regrets about my career choice, but recently, life’s struggles, expectations, distractions, and a few unwise choices I made when I was younger have caused me to lose some of my motivation and drive. Your videos about cars-like those inspired by Initial D and Wangan Midnight-and machines are helping me rediscover that childlike fascination and the intrinsic motivation to pursue my passions. Thank you for uploading them and for rekindling that spark within me.
Man living in japan and going into to the 86 festival got me into cars but my second car which was a 91 GA70 supra really made fall inlove with everything to do with them..... until they break....
I'm 26 and just got my first car a month ago. I have a 2020 Jetta, I love this car with my entire heart, there's nothing that feels better than waking up in the morning and knowing that I'll get to drive my own car. My favorite moment when I drive is when I stop at a red light, first car in the line, as soon as the light turns green and I press the gas, I can hear the engine revving, then the turbo kicks in and I can feel the car getting that little boost of speed.

I always grew up with a passion for cars, but I never had the chance to really experience them, as my family wasn’t necessarily full of car people. I grew up with a nice, comfortable first car (VW GTI), but it wasn’t really mine and it wasn’t a stick shift. I finally got my lucky break (thanks to the Navy), bought a real sports car, and I haven’t looked back. I love my Evo 2, and I think it has opened so many doors that I could have never imagined had I just kept on following the cookie cutter path I had set out for me. Learning to drive stick shift on the drive home from Texas, learning the intricacies of driving a real drivers car, and all that was such a wonderful experience. The manga you highlighted is such a wonderful comparison, and I’m so glad that this video popped up in my feed. Thank you!

I have a similar story to that of Shun in Countach, only i'm Scottish and it's about my Porsche Cayman. This is gonna be a long story, but i'd like to think this could inspire someone out there, so buckle up lol 5 years ago, at my lowest point. Studying to be a concept artist only to learn during COVID that I didn't have the work ethic or attention to work on art realistically in a workspace, was working my nightshift job that in retrospect was boring and lonely, and was left heartbroken after falling out with a girl I really thought was the one. I was always looking too far ahead goals wise, at things like a family and house, but nothing realistically obtainable, all of which left me in a huge rut. The type of life where you say "I'm just living..." with no passion. But at some point, I got to drive a Mitsubishi ASX Black Edition that my dad was using. It was a manual, and whilst being an SUV, it was the fastest thing I had driven at that point. I even got a speeding ticket because I loved driving it fast. I grew up loving cars as a kid, playing Need For Speed, GTA games etc, but I kinda fell out of love for cars during my highschool years and most years of going to college. Also driving shitty low powered A to B cars like the Nissan Note didn't help, literally the worst car i've ever drive, DO NOT BUY ONE. But driving the ASX really brought back that love for cars during that rut I was in, and I eventually remembered a car I always had as my dream car ever since I used it in Need For Speed: Most Wanted (05), the Porsche Cayman 987. And so I started looking on sites, thinking they were going to be horrendously overpriced, but was shocked to see they were alot cheaper than I even thought. And so I decided to go for it, and make it my goal to get a Porsche Cayman 987. So I started my year or 2 year long journey of hard saving, skipping out on fast food, buying the only essentials, and just being smart for once with my savings. And in that time, reading and watching reviews of Porsche Cayman 987s, and everyone all singing its praises. But also, pointing out distinctions between the 987.1 and 987.2, learning about bore scoring etc. After learning the differences, both visually and internally, whilst it would be more expensive, I kept saving for a 987.2 instead. And eventually I got there, and met a older guy selling a 2012 Porsche Cayman 987.2 in Guards Red, with gloss black mirrors, side vents and spoiler. Funny thing is, I wasn't looking for a red car, or a base model Cayman. I envisioned a Cayman S in blue or black. But the black accents really took hold of me quickly, as it complimented the Guards Red soo well. Went out for a drive, and even being a base model, it absolutely hauled ass when the guy wanted to, and I just sat there taking it all in. And so when the question of "So... what do you say? You going of it?" finally came about, I made a split decision and went for it, driving it back home in possibly the worst conditions. Never driven a proper sports car, absolutely chucking it down with rain, bought it October and started getting dark buy the time we were coming back, almost spun out coming off a roundabout, almost hit a deer jumping out some woods, all whilst being dark. ABSOLUTELY. STRESS. INDUCING. But the car took it all like a champ, and when I did drive it the next day on dry roads, it was an absolute joy to drive. Going on the freeway and accelerating to 100mph faster than anything I had before, it was nothing short of excellent. But where things really changed for me was going to a local car gathering, and this older gentlemen with an Ipanema Blue 997.2 GTS came up to me and started asking about me and my car, how long I had it for, the specs etc. And at first I thought the guy was going to be a stereotypical Porsche snob, but instead, he invited me to a Porsche In The Park event he was putting on, and invited me into his Porsche group. I went to that Porsche In The Park event. Coming up to 3 years later, I still have my Cayman and I absolute love her. Learning more and more what she's capable of, going round corners like a go-kart will never not be thrilling. And whilst life isn't perfect, i'm SOO much happier than I was all those years ago. I'm now in a job that makes more money than my nightshift job. I'm now all in on photography and recently finished and passed my HND Photography course that was part of college, so now i'm free from education. But more importantly, i'm still with that Porsche group, and have made genuine connections with the members, going out for monthly Porsche runs. People from all different backgrounds and ages. Yeah, some of them are abit up their own ass, but all of them have a genuine passion for their car, and I love that. And y'know, whilst I didn't buy my Cayman to be flashy or gain attention, couldn't give a fuck if nobody looked, it does feel good when you're cruising and you see someone turn and stare at your car with a smile on their face, or kids cheering as you go past. Or going through the McDonalds drive-thru and the cashier saying "Love the car" as you're about to drive off. Going to a car show and letting a girl who was a huge Porsche fan sit in my car, revved it and left her with the biggest smile on her face, it all such good feelings. Whilst I plan on upgrading to a Porsche Cayman 981 GTS once I have the funds, I plan on having many more years with my current Cayman, and i'm more than happy with that. tl;dr: A car can indeed change your life ❤
@@RossCuth that’s quite the journey! I’m glad it all worked out for you seriously, and what a car to do it in, the 987’s are awesome, honestly there are so many hidden gems from the late 2000’s, everyone raves about 90’s cars and I can’t lie I love a lot of em too, but I think some of the real gems are in the 00’s. While things were still analog enough to be fun but also having a bunch of creature comforts Also very glad to hear you didn’t bin it on your first drive home and have actually gotten to enjoy the car hahahaha How goods the whole car club community too though, like you said sure there are some snobs here and there, but it sounds like you’ve found a real home for yourself in the Porsche community, absolutely love to see it man

I didn't know exactly what to expect from the title, but I can relate to pretty much everything here. I got into cars recently as an adult and they have really unlocked a whole new dimension to life for me. Of course my car and the experiences we share together bring me great joy, but I also think the the most fulfilling part might be the connections you build with others because of cars. I also have many new friendships that were started on and built almost entirely on cars. We can talk about them for hours on end, anytime, which is no surprise considering all the things a car can be: a lifestyle, a hobby, a partner, a part of everyday life. Even people who aren't into cars can talk about cars because they almost certainly have some exposure to them (at least in the US).
Love the video as always, some how has perfect timing in my life, not just with me starting to read my favourite Carrera, but with how my car is changing me. You made it sound much more exciting and interesting, even though you wouldn’t really recommend it in the end XD I can’t blame you. I don’t really mind the fan service moments, but it definitely gets a bit excessive. Reina is a great character, and I love how you can really root for her throughout the series. When I finally started driving I was scared but that adrenaline did feel good to me. As I kept driving over time I wanted to faster and faster it was so fun and i could finally see the enjoyment in cars. Most people only see it as daily transportation but I genuinely wanted to just cruise around and push my little eco car to its limits. I started saving for an actual sports car and that's when my eyes were opened to car culture and how many cool cars there were out there to appreciate.

After I graduated cars I started to get into cars for some reason. It wasn't immediate, but I went out of my way to learn what kinds of cars there were, which cars were historically significant. I think initially I was just dreaming about what car I would buy when I had enough money, but it spiraled into a genuine passion. I drive a 2009 Corolla, and one day I remember being really annoyed by how bad the audio system was. I started with replacing the speakers, getting a new stereo unit, and even spent hours analyzing the sound using a calibrated microphone and REW in order to set up a tune. Now, I've been spending the last few weeks sound treating the car to make it quieter on highways so I can enjoy my music better. I could've just saved up for an old lexus, which would probably be better in every way. It's definitely something I can do now that I have a job, but it's not about having something better. It's about having something you've built with your own hands, something you can be proud of everytime you sit in it.
i know a mechanic who specialized on BMWs because he had one and couldnt afford to repair it, so he just learned how to, then he went to a few BMW car meets and slowly got more and more people to trust him with their car, now a days, maybe 3 or 4 years later, he has one of the most relevant shops around and is a reference when it comes to BMWs, his shop is always full and he even has to schedule people in because of the sheer volume of cars to work on. All that because his father had a beaten up old BMW and needed a quick buck sometimes you take a gamble and it pays off, thats why its always good to remember he also rolled that car a few times while street racing when he used to live with his parents LMAO
This video might be for me, I just bought a 1994 Mazda 929. And I've always wanted a 929. This video, was uploaded on that day and now I'm watching it the next morning.

As someone who got their dream car 2 years ago I can deeply relate. We all know most men don't get a lot of attention, nor compliments or hugs and all that shit we just wake up, go to work and sleep like we just function and I was struggling a lot. Eversince I was around 10 or 11 I dreamt of having a third gen Firebird and in 2022 at 19 years old that dream came true. That thing changed my life, I started getting a deep connection to my car as I fixed her up and I named her Roxanne because I think every classic car needs a fitting name. Now 2 years later the car did change my life, I flipped 180 degrees, became pretty extroverted, get lots of compliments for the car and myself, I enjoy everything a lot more. Maybe this car for me was the little kick in the butt I always needed to change. Couldn't imagine ever getting rid of her now, shes a part of our family. This once again proves cars are more than just cars it only depends what you make of them
@@nicksspeedshop8664 yeah the firebird would definitely stand out that’s for sure, and it’s crazy how just one car can flip your life upside down and even change your demeanour Great to hear it gave you that wave of confidence man, keep running with it and see how far it’ll take you 🫡
when i was 15 i knew nothing about cars, im 20 now with 3 of my favorite cars and about to go to school for a automotive degree specifying in engine building, when i was younger knew i liked them and really wanted one but never thought i could afford one. I decided to get a job the same year and save up a whole year and got my first car my 2000 crown vic the best daily ever made and started working on it to learn on cars just basic maintenance and mods, after 2 years i wanted a little more i wanted to learn manual so bad and really wanted a 3000gt one of my childhood dream cars so i found a pretty broken up 3000GT SL that needed a new transmission, clutch, and abt 10 other things but eventually got it all together with the boys and learned manual, fast forward a another 2 years and i saved up enough for a 03 cobra swapped 01 mustang gt drove 7 hours away with way too much cash too multiple risk, hit 155 on the way home with a whole other gear left, and ran from a state patrol on the way home(in forza) now i have 2 of my absolute favorite cars ever produced and my vic that started it all, but even with all my work i know im just getting started. Thank you for the great video man
My car isnt sporty or rare, but she's my first car and i got her for free from my Dad: a 2004 Buick LeSabre. Her name is Roxanne. I personalized her with things like bumper stickers and accessories. I love Roxanne. She's not everyone's favorite car, but she's my car and thats all i need.
My own journey with cars started with motorcycles. Bought a dingy CG125 and loved the heck out of it. Later got my fathers 2011 CBR150R. Loved modding and tinkering the snot out of them. Fast forward this year, had an opportunity to get a loaner 2011 RAV4 from my brother for work. Very different ball game maintenance wise. In a motorcycle, valve adjustments are a 15-30 minute job for OHV engines. For cars, well, good luck doing it in a afternoon. Still learning as the car already has 320k kilometers and there's a lot more to look out for. Staring to tinker with it a little bit at a time like adding a new key through an OBD programmer called techstream, adding bits and bobs etc. Cars and motorcycles are therapeutic and gets me away from all of the BS of life.
@@jabinstateresa totally agree on that last part man And yeah cars are a different ballgame for sure, anything you want to do that you think will take an hour; always ends up taking 5. Like I installed coilovers on my F with some mates recently, and it took us like over an hour to do the front passenger side, but then like 20 minutes to do the drivers side, and it just got quicker again with the rears First time you do something it always takes forever but once you’re confident shit goes by so fast haha, but it always takes longer than you first thought
I learned how to drive manual in a unusual car as well. Me and my dad are really into older cars and he taught me to drive stick in his 1950 ford 3speed on the column. Definitely not how most people learn stick, but it was a fun experience!
I love cars, my dad and my older brother are heavy duty mechanics, they can repair any truck and most of their cars. And I was raise in a world where everyone in the house with a license has 2 or 3 cars. I actually own 2, Toyota Tercel 92 and Mitsubishi Endeavor 2004. And these are not great cars, because in my country(Costa Rica) is hard to maintain a "cool vehicle" and even more expensive to buy a new one. But my life changed since I got my first car, you become indepent, you can drive as you want, you can go wherever you want and take any route you want. Is a life changer, I dream with the day I can buy a new one. Of course I would like to buy a classic and very fast car, but being realistic, I prefer something to use day by day with my wife and friends. Good video my friend
@@Pumble27 thank you man, and that’s still awesome and at least you’ve got some great variety with the two cars I’ve never had a new car and doubt I ever will haha, they’re just so expensive even here, but I feel really lucky to own a car that was at one point the pinnacle of what Lexus could do, even if that was 16 years ago
I didn't really put it together until you mentioned it, but me liking Gundam and Zoids while also liking cars, makes so much sense now. Cars are my absolute favorite hobby. It's the one thing I don't think I could ever give up. I absolutely love my ZL1, modifying it, and making it mine. It's one of the things that keeps me going everyday and I don't see that changing. I'm so thankful that a lot of my friends ans family are into cars as well. Always gives us something to talk about haha. I've also met so many people and have become good friends with because of cars. It's just a really great community... mostly.
@@phoenix2555 yeah man I feel like it’s almost rare to meet someone who’s into mecha and NOT into cars haha ZL1’s are a hell of a car too, unfortunately they’re bloody hard to get on this side of the world, and the few we do get are slammed with so many taxes and fees it becomes ridiculous. 2013 ones are going for near $100,000 and some from 2019 are getting over $200,000, absolutely insane. Fortunately we get the jap cars a lot easier though, and I guess we’ve got years of good Holdens and Fords to look back on, but nothing that really comes out today anymore 😭
@@phoenix2555 oh for sure it’s a damn shame all cars aren’t just everywhere hahaha I’ve know a guy with an 800rwhp maloo ute, the things off it’s head, just a shame it rarely gets driven but I guess I wouldn’t want to daily that either 😂
@@Viseakvery soon I should be around that as well. Within the next 2-3 months actually. No way I'd want to daily it though. Technically could because it's a shockingly easy car to drive for what it currently makes but no way I could do it daily haha
It sounds stupid but pretending my life is a game keeps me motivated. I’ve been really unmotivated to take on more shifts at work, but lately thinking about ‘grinding’ the money to work towards a WRX, GR86 or GTR (unrealistically😅) made me take on more work and earn more money. I’ve even started driving up to a Mountain Road close to where I live and kind of look at it as gaining ‘exp points’ each time I drive that road, which is kind of exactly what I’m gaining - experience - each time I drive that road, I’m learning how to better downshift, heel-toe, take each corner, etc. It’s definitely a weird concept, but it’s helped me as someone who has played games since a young age and is competitive.
@@TisDoppel honestly bro if it works for ya, it isn’t stupid at all. Nothing wrong with gamifying your life if it makes it even a little better 🫡 Side note it’s crazy to think GTR’s weren’t always unrealistic (least here, not sure where you’re from I mean it could be aus haha), but one of my mates (nearly 10 years older than me) got his R32 GTR for $22,000 when he was about my age. The things immaculate and easily worth $70k+ these days 😭
@@Viseak yeah I'm in W.A., best I can hope for is a Subaru WRX as I love off roading and it would be an awesome car to build for rally stages around west aus, or an XR6 Turbo purely for the Barra and they'll probably go crazy expensive when more people start learning about them
I found the Countach manga last year and I have been reading it since, to me it is an example of the perfect manga. Thanks for sharing it with the car/anime/manga community since I'm sure there aren't that many manga catered specifically for us.

That part where you said you didn't tell anyone that you got your car but just showed up places, I felt it. When I got my first Mustang (2013 V6 Manual) and I just took it to places to show everyone I had finally gotten the car I said I wanted.
@@Viseak exactly. Being an immigrant when I was talking to my family in Argentina one of my aunts was telling me about how they wouldn't even be able to dream of having a car like that. I just wanted to show everyone like hey look this thing is so cool.
Ever since I found out that Countach is getting weekly translations, I've been keeping up with the releases and it's been a great time doing so. It feels like you're following an ongoing manga even though Countach is already a finished series. Based on how much you've loved Countach, I know that the eventual Over Rev video is gonna be a great one.

Hello from India . My enthusiasm for cars started from childhood when dad used to service our car by himself. We have an old British Car which my grandfather bought in 60s . Its an Austin A40 Devon 1948 . Me and my dad still find time to do regular maintenance on the car but getting parts is a headache since the company is long gone . Thats a part of the love for cars . You keep looking after it like a family member .
Always having to rely on family for rides and whatnot made me feel i was still a kid even thoigj im a fully fledged adult. Now i habe my own car (2015 ford fusion se ecoboost awd) and its litterally changed how i percieve myself and i absolutely take best care of her. I love my car and she gave me the ability to do things i always wanted - on my own as well. Cars are an extension of the soul - and expressiom of each individual. ❤
i am buying a 2025 86 (20 in college who doesn’t have motivation to work or go to class, but some money saved from highschool jobs) and i have the heart pumping sensation when you just hit a genius remark and then i found this video, solidifying the idea.
Love the way you do your videos. So great to listen to these while working all day. I never heard of these mangas so I’m definitely gonna give these both a read but I’ll definitely agree that countach sounds more relatable being 3 years out of hs and all. Keep up the great work you single handedly got me into Gundam and Armoured Core 6😂.
Pretty good video, i would argue its the same with motorcycles. I loved cars before but when i learned that u can get supercar power at the fraction of the price i was hooked... until it starts raining or snow/ice hits...
I have acquired a handful of old Toyotas and BMWs over the years and always felt it legitimized my involvement in the car world, but I don't like going to meets or anything because I just want to work on the cars and drive them. I respect the people who keep their projects quiet as much as the ones that use them for clout, but as much as I want to document them for others... it's more intimate and personal doin it for myself.
@@Mis73rRand0m nothing wrong with that at all man, I don’t really find myself going to meets much these days either Cars and coffee types of things on Sunday mornings are fun every now and then but it’s still rare
I loved reading this manga (what there is translated) and has completely changed the way I view cars and people getting into it. I would love to write a manga of my own that's based on on car appreciation. (you complaint about the lewdness of some parts is heavily caused by where the manga was released when it came out).
You should have more subs great video! Love my 2020 Corolla for its reliability fuel efficiency but I also have a Lexus sc430 for when I’m feeling like driving a bit fast!
Ah this calms me so much. I just bought my first car. I bought a 300zx Z32 na. I feel a little stupid and I probably am. But it feels wonderful to drive, even if I'm not skilled at it yet and everytime I open the garage it makes me so happy. But it also scares me a lot. I'm probably the only person in my city who drives this. I make the old people happy though who knew this back in their age or the car enthusiasts who didnt buy one cause its a stupid financial decision 😂. Its an expression though. Was really depressed and wasnt able to learn things before driving school. Found out that driving was fun and it was the first time I've learnt again in quite a time. So I went to buy that car as a way to asure myself of having a future with that.

I started loving cars when I started playing with hot wheels at a single digit age of 5. Then I started playing Racing video games. It really took off when I went to a car meet in Jacksonville, FL at the Jaguars NFL Stadium, it was so cool, I didn’t know that they had events like this until I went there, I was around my freshman year in high school. Then I went to my first race track event at Daytona in 2023 and I was blown away, seeing the race cars I saw on tv in real time was just an amazing experience. I am currently 20 but the journey has been amazing. Still trying to get my first car by the way.😅
My car craze began before I finished learning the order of my ABCs. But I’ve got to say, it’s playing a big role right now in my life more than ever. Pretty great life lesson for me I daresay. My memory goes far back to some time before preschool. Cars was among the oldest of all my interests, possibly the oldest. I had a few model cars and an RV, typical kid things. But I never really pursued cars more cause I was a kid and couldn’t drive, so thought, “Why should I be enthusiastic about something I don’t know the first thing about?” Eventually I lost all my model cars to time and my RV broke down. Well, many years passed and I got my learner’s permit. Shit hit the fan. Never really got outdoors since 2020, spatial awareness was out of whack, would not dare go above 8mph, barely learned anything cause I was stressed the hell out trying not to crash a multi thousand dollar vehicle, constantly getting chewed out for stupid mistakes. Practice was a chore and being on the road felt like traversing an alien terrain: I didn’t feel like I should be there. Ironically enough, I bit by bit got subconsciously dragged back into my presumed dead interest of cars, but this time, discovering how they work, getting into the culture, strangely no pressure. Then not too long (thankfully) after my initial block, it just clicked. I was more than fine with getting on the road, I knew the size of my car and was fine with driving other people’s different-sized cars, and somehow, my awareness and reaction time improved like a removed blindfold. And soon I hit the highway. So the solution to breaking the ice was just the opposite. If something doesn’t make sense, make it make sense. Don’t run from it, get acquainted with it, make it your friend even. And don’t gatekeep yourself from anything cause you don’t know, all the more reason to get started.
I just bought my first car. It's a 2009 Ford Mustang gt 45th Anniversary edition. I can wait to learn it's in and outs completely and traveling in it. I've wanted a 5th gen S197 since i was a child as my family have all been Mustang people, and it was the current Mustang at around the time i fell in love with Mustangs. I've been estatic about my car recently.
I love mecha anime, watched initial d in last year of college and wanted the ft86. Fast fwd now i own a NC miata and read/watched so many car stuff. Good vid and this was on my home feed!
Oh I’ve got plenty of other mecha and car videos if that suits your fancy haha And a miata was a great choice, they’re a bucket of fun for sure Glad to hear this bad boys spreading to home pages too! Thanks for letting me know 🫡
I feel like there are a lot of things in My Favourite Carrera that really wouldn’t make sense to put in a manga and things that would most of the time make it objectively bad but this video really shows the actual story that was trying to be told even if it was something simple or something that would make crazy profit like other manga. Also going back I can see Kia Asamiya poking fun at that fact with a few mini arcs and I think it’s really cool that was able to write something that it seems he was passionate about and even though it probably wouldn’t gain too much traction or be looked on too positively by publishers.
I bought a car I absolutely dont care about a few months ago. 2004 VW Polo with a 1,4l 3 cyl diesel. I feel nothing but carelessness toward that car but I ended up liking it way more then I expected. I treat it like trash, it continues to break down in irellevant ways. But overall I keep it runnig, it keeps me going and it does so cheaply. Wich considering the pretty rough spot I am in now is just perfect. It has taken my abuse like a champ and even tho I know I will have to kill it come spring and really didnt and dont really care about that sh*tbox, I think I still am gonna be sad once its time will come to finally rest. This little trooper will chug along so the cars I actually wanna own can run like the wind.
Great feature of the Countach manga! The premise is explained well, and I can feel the respect you hold for that series. I wouldn't really take the volume covers seriously as a preview of what happens in the volume (considering one of them has the Countach going to space), they seem just like teasers to attract people's attention. P.S. Juri grabs Shun's crotch not just once but _again_ in chapter 62 ;)

I love it.

"Old" bmw gives you that
I have a z4 e89 23i, and I love cruising in it as much as throwing in backroads.
The atmosphere in the cabin is what makes the difference, the gauges, for me, the long black hood, the sound of the exhaust that bmw nails really well in terms of being just loud enough...

I've always loved cars since my dad grew me around then, and it was really cool learning more about the different cars and their backstories in the manga.

2014, I almost bought an 80s MR2 for $600. It got sold under me...then an XR4Ti came up for sale...rust belt car...did not matter.

Sadly I have an extreme motion sickness - so bad that I can't even be passenger in taxi, bus, or board train without medicine (which not always helps), and especially I can't get a licence as I grew up (I tried, and after 5 minutes on a test field I stopped the car and jumped out into bushes.)
In games I have no problem driving them on my cheap steering wheel.

This is gonna be a long story, but i'd like to think this could inspire someone out there, so buckle up lol
5 years ago, at my lowest point.

Very different ball game maintenance wise. In a motorcycle, valve adjustments are a 15-30 minute job for OHV engines. For cars, well, good luck doing it in a afternoon. Still learning as the car already has 320k kilometers and there's a lot more to look out for. Staring to tinker with it a little bit at a time like adding a new key through an OBD programmer called techstream, adding bits and bobs etc.

Of course I would like to buy a classic and very fast car, but being realistic, I prefer something to use day by day with my wife and friends.
Good video my friend
@@Pumble27 thank you man, and that’s still awesome and at least you’ve got some great variety with the two cars
I’ve never had a new car and doubt I ever will haha, they’re just so expensive even here, but I feel really lucky to own a car that was at one point the pinnacle of what Lexus could do, even if that was 16 years ago
It's just a really great community... mostly.
@@phoenix2555 yeah man I feel like it’s almost rare to meet someone who’s into mecha and NOT into cars haha
ZL1’s are a hell of a car too, unfortunately they’re bloody hard to get on this side of the world, and the few we do get are slammed with so many taxes and fees it becomes ridiculous. 2013 ones are going for near $100,000 and some from 2019 are getting over $200,000, absolutely insane.
Fortunately we get the jap cars a lot easier though, and I guess we’ve got years of good Holdens and Fords to look back on, but nothing that really comes out today anymore 😭
@@Viseak on the hand, I'd love for the US to get HSV Maloo's and Commodore's. Like the W427 Commodore, VXR8 Bathurst or the Maloo R8 LSA 😂
@@phoenix2555 oh for sure it’s a damn shame all cars aren’t just everywhere hahaha
I’ve know a guy with an 800rwhp maloo ute, the things off it’s head, just a shame it rarely gets driven but I guess I wouldn’t want to daily that either 😂
Nothing wrong with gamifying your life if it makes it even a little better 🫡
Side note it’s crazy to think GTR’s weren’t always unrealistic (least here, not sure where you’re from I mean it could be aus haha), but one of my mates (nearly 10 years older than me) got his R32 GTR for $22,000 when he was about my age. The things immaculate and easily worth $70k+ these days 😭
@@Viseak yeah I'm in W.A., best I can hope for is a Subaru WRX as I love off roading and it would be an awesome car to build for rally stages around west aus, or an XR6 Turbo purely for the Barra and they'll probably go crazy expensive when more people start learning about them
Can definitely relate to the mountain road part, I've been doing something similar with a local county road
I found the Countach manga last year and I have been reading it since, to me it is an example of the perfect manga. Thanks for sharing it with the car/anime/manga community since I'm sure there aren't that many manga catered specifically for us.

Ever since I found out that Countach is getting weekly translations, I've been keeping up with the releases and it's been a great time doing so. It feels like you're following an ongoing manga even though Countach is already a finished series.

I have acquired a handful of old Toyotas and BMWs over the years and always felt it legitimized my involvement in the car world, but I don't like going to meets or anything because I just want to work on the cars and drive them.
Thanks for the tip on The gentleman.

i just got done looking through shakotan boogie of whats out there and im reading through over rev! atm
@@ajthetrex5969 that’s awesome, hope you enjoy the hell out of it
I’m so happy I’m not the only one who had a progression from gundam to cars.
I love mecha anime, watched initial d in last year of college and wanted the ft86. Fast fwd now i own a NC miata and read/watched so many car stuff. Good vid and this was on my home feed!
Oh I’ve got plenty of other mecha and car videos if that suits your fancy haha
And a miata was a great choice, they’re a bucket of fun for sure
Glad to hear this bad boys spreading to home pages too!
@@byron6272 yeah despite my gripes with the unnecessary, stuff, in the manga, I really do appreciate the direction it was trying to go
I bought a car I absolutely dont care about a few months ago.
