  • We are checking out the #Fenrir Duo which is an ODE (Optical Drive Emulator) for the #Sega Saturn. It basically replaces the CD drive and loads games from a micro SD card.
    I bought my #FenrirDuo from ZedLabz (www.zedlabz.com/products/fenr...) in the UK who have it for a great price. You can find a list of official sellers Worldwide on the Fenrir homepage at www.fenrir-ode.fr/.
    You will also need a decent micro SD card for your games, we recommend SanDisk (amzn.to/3nNkHnm) or Samsung (amzn.to/43lnft9).
    While you do not need one, if you want to take advantage of some extra features such as more memory and cheats. The Saturn Action Replay 4M Auto Plus (amzn.to/3GpDqf5) can be updated with Pseudo Saturn Kai Lite software (ppcenter.webou.net/pskai/).
    You can find a text version for this review at retrogamingbanter.com/fenrir-...

    I love that the Sega Saturn is getting the love it deserves, there are so many options for ODEs and ways to play games beside using the original discs. My favorite has to be the Satiator because of its ease of use, but the Fenrir looks like a good option.

    • @RetroGamingBanter
      @RetroGamingBanter  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, as long as they play the games properly its all good :) I have not read up on the Satiator yet, I will check out some reviews as I have another Saturn that I might upgrade for a friend.

      He was born in London so we have some similarities there. It might depend what film/show you are watching, he does do different accents, but I don't think I sound like him?

    I noticed you have the English Patched version of Dragon Force 2. Did you try playing it? That's the main game I would do this mod for.
    What size SD card did you use?

    • @RetroGamingBanter

      I used a 128GB card. I did not have a larger card on hand to try but it should be able to do 256GB and 512GB

    Do you know if Fenrir Duo will work in all Saturn models, including the Japanese region console?

    • @RetroGamingBanter
      @RetroGamingBanter  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It will work on all models including V-Saturn, Hi-Saturn and Tectoy. The Duo supports both 20 and 21 pin connections and includes ribbon cables for them.

    Great video, i just got my fenrir duo it’s working great except that I’m having an issue where some times when I power on it skips the game menu and goes to the settings screen instead and act as if I still have a disc drive in it. Then try searching for a disc do you know what could possibly be causing this problem?

    • @RetroGamingBanter
      @RetroGamingBanter  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I haven't had this issue myself. You could ask in the Fenrir discord channel at discord.gg/5Nsu5YJhjv The developers and many owners of the Fenrir are there, so one of them will know the issue. Hope that helps.

    you don't mention games like king of fighters 95 which need 1mb'4mb to load? does the 4in1 black pseudo kai cartridge work with those games on the fenrir duo?

    • @RetroGamingBanter
      @RetroGamingBanter  ปีที่แล้ว

      Pseudo Saturn Kai doesn't use any of the RAM part of the cart, so it is still available for games to use. If I remember right the save part of the cart is not available, but you can save to internal and then back it up/restore with Fenrir if needed.

    I just installed mine but it won't play 3/4th of the games that it did by cd. I have the firmware file on the microsd, I can pick the games but only 1 out of 5 play. Anyone known why this might be happening?

    • @RetroGamingBanter
      @RetroGamingBanter  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I havent had any issues with compatibility from what I remember. My guess it would be the CD images are bad. Try downloading from another source and see if that fixes it.

    • @C3phoe
      @C3phoe 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @RetroGamingBanter the lord doth answer mein prays. Someone on Reddit invited me to the fenrir discord and a guy had me fixed in about 20 minutes. I abandoned the two micro 64gb sd's and bought a new 128, and he had me download the firmware, not the one that fenrir has on the website, one that's 4 months newer and possibly by the creator. Every single game works now praise his name. 🙏

    Does this make the Ram Cart obsolete besides wanting to use it only for Cheats?

    • @RetroGamingBanter
      @RetroGamingBanter  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      To an extent yes. I believe you can still use it as a RAM cart. So the cart is not a requirement, but a nice companion for the Fenrir.
