If you’re concerned about water staying in the filter you can bake these in an oven after cleaning.
Most manufactures bake the filters at very high temps during the cleaning process as it helps release the soot making cleaning easier.
It will dry it when u turn the truck on
I just did this today on my pete. Finished with a regen. My emissions service light is no longer blinking when I start it. I also put a new diff pressure sensor while i was there. Should be good for another 250,000

Im doing this.!!! I have 2 ISX 871’s and im done paying for DPF cleanings that evidently dont work for long afterwards
I'll be trying this on my 09 Volvo with Cummins ISX next week. I'll post how I worked out.

Propane torch burn from low stream end, then flush water from low stream end to upper end.
Do you need to do a regen after you’re done pressure washing it and drying it ?
Are you doing this in your shop? I don't know what the hot knife method is but I thought that was the only way to clean them.
i know you've said this in one of your vids, but i'm gonna remind everyone reading this comment.
DO NOT, DO NOT get the presure washer too close to the cell walls.
I knew that already, but i took it to my brother in law(he knows nothing about dpfs) he was trying to help me and he started presure washing it and messed it up really bad,
i took it to freightliner luckly it was only $700 with the core.
It was basically an exanchange, i gave them the dirty one, they gave me a clean one. (NOT NEW)
A mechanic came to look at it, he said they could not give me credit for it.
so i got in line for parts department, the guy barely looked at it and said it was good.
I got lucky.
Please becareful if you do it you're self.
this method it VERY, VERY effective.
I washed the other dpf myself and it came out perfect.
I guarantee if you soak it down with Liquid Dawn dish detergent it would be immaculate much quicker
Could you post before and after flow results? Can you clean them back to near 100% ?

The water will just evaporate when in use.
Where are you located?
Do a long regeneration, then wash, dry in oven and reinstall. If coolant has gotten on it, get a new one. They are usually full of ash because use of cheap oil and the egr
Coolant got in mine when my egr cooler failed. That was over 50k miles ago. I have over 6k engine run hours and 300 engine idle hours. I was thinking it is time for me to remove and clean my dpf filter. I haven't been having any issues other than 2 regens in 1 month and I BARELY ever get a regen.... I'm curious as to why i need to replace the filter if coolant has gotten into it rather than just clean it?
Will you get the same results with cold water? How often do you recommend for the cleaning to be scheduled?
you have to be very careful with a power washer it could destroy the inside of the DPF and a few weeks when the insides are in shambles the truck has issues.

What do clean the decomposition tube with?
Is it just an R&R component?
If it has built up DEF in it, warm water will clean it out.
What kind of up stream problems were you having? And was the DOC heating up to regen temps?Thanks
+Rodgers Rodgers Honestly, it's been a while and can't remember exactly. I believe it may have been a failing HC Doser. It was not reaching proper temps.
That water cutting action can't be good for the ceramic holding it together yiks. 😂😂😂😂😂
this is a great video....thanks for showing.... I have a question if you don't mind, 12 cascadia with ISX15 the DOC filter looks like it was never replaced and I say this because in the DPF chunks are coming off so would it be a good idea to wash the DOC filter?
As long as you mean chunks of soot and not chunks of the DOC material. If the DOC is breaking apart, it should be replaced.
As for cleaning the DOC, it is required from time to time. They can become "Face Plugged". Usually when there are problems upstream, coming from the engine. They can be cleaned with compressed air (Best to attach a vacuum with a good filter to the inlet side to catch the Soot being blown out) or with water very much the same way as I clean DPFs in these videos.
how long does it normally take to wash out a DPF filter?
It shouldnt take more than a few minutes. It will take longest on bigger, heavy duty filters.
Have you ever tried a steamer?
No, personally, I have not.
CHARLES D There was a shop i used to get clutch adjustments and small repairs done like wheel seals and stuff. They had a pressurized steamer that looked like it was built around prohibition...lol...but i swear that thing would save a pair of oil clogged brake shoes and make'em look spank'n new! The place closed and they were nice guys but what i really wanted to know is what did they do with that parts steamer!
What material is the filter made of?
at what temperature do you pressure wash the dpf and at what temp are you blowing air to it ?
Basically room temp. The water is heated but it does not necessarily need to be.
TheDieseler have you clean a dpf on the paccar engine
does this cleaning method apply in all dpfs?
I have not cleaned a Paccar DPF as of yet. It should apply to any DPF as long as it's accessible. I'm sure some light duty units may be built in such a way that they're trapped within a pipe.

There goes the coating of PGM coating , do under stand that the coating you wash away will cause higher nox values and eventually scr failures due to high def dosing🤯

Never seen one so sooted. Must be lots of idling. I just fit a pair of exchange on service scheduled. Never have any trouble then. What gets me is spend thousands of dollars tarting trucks up but don't want the maintenance factors adding.

I'm not sure I would want to get caught doing this. Seems pretty illegal. The new Ultrasonic cleaning machine, combined with an FSX pneumatic cleaning and then baked to dry it out would probably be the best option for cleaning a DPF, because it doesn't put the waste back into the environment. It's collected and then recycled to make carbon fibers parts. It doesn't cost much to have them professionally cleaned anymore, with how much competition there is. So why wouldn't you just do it right?
