It always struck me as wrong that the time limitation is because of Velvet's weapon. Why would the Velvet's projector delete a weapon from memory if Velvet could still use it? It makes more sense to me that Velvet swaps weapon and fighting style because her SEMBLANCE has a time limit for aping any specific fighting style. A weapon is useless if Velvet can no longer provide the fighting style to take advantage of it, and the limitations of a Semblance don't have to make sense since (in universe) they aren't purposely designed.

Yang can take a hit and dish it out just as hard towards someone but her semblance is still basically a temper tantrum and she thinks she’s invincible. We also have Nora’s semblance being absorbing lightning to make herself stronger. And as we see in the episodes of the recent volume Nora’s semblance has limits. Velvet’s semblance allows her to merely mimic someone’s fighting style perfectly. Her weapon, Anesidora, is built with Hard Light Dust that allows her to make a copy of that persons weapon. But her weapon and semblance also have limits, as you have said. Her semblance can only allow her to copy someone’s fighting style but not that person’s semblance. Her weapon allows her to cope a person’s weapon using but only for a short time.

Adam was such a terrifying villain tho fr I know people complained that he got “nerfed” in v6 but I strongly disagree. He trailed them for god knows how long, he took out an entire Atlas outpost, he fought Blake 1 on 1 after falling from the top of it, and then he fought both of them at the same time and still almost killed them a few times. That’s pretty damn terrifying

Ozpin’s fight is wild because if you look lost enough he isn’t actually breaking a single sweat when fighting Cinder, despite her having the Fall Maiden powers and strong as hell, he fights her with no sweat. The further you go down into this show the more you will love Oz, he doesn’t get enough honestly. He’s my absolute favorite character in the entire show And in case you didn’t know Pyrrha (like all of the characters of Remnant are based on fairytale characters) is based on the Greek Warrior Achilles. And that’s why what happened to Pyrrha happened when she fought Cinder. That arrow to the leg wasn’t just a coincidence. That was her Achilles heel coming from the character she was based off of. The entire volume was leading up to Pyrrha’s death. Even the opening showed it. So subtle and amazing I love when they add little details into shows that make you think. Also that woman at the end wasn’t Raven, that was Salem. Remnants own Wicked Witch of the West so to speak. Seeing as Oz is very probably based on The Wizard of Oz.
If you look close enough, Cinder isn't breaking a single sweat when fighting Ozpin either. In fact, Cinder was SMILING throughout, grinning at Ozpin as their weapons clashed, as if she had been waiting for this moment for a long time. Cinder knew full well that she had already won, and was simply enjoying herself as she bested and killed Ozpin himself in single combat in only about a minute. It's the same with most of Cinder's battles: she usually isn't even trying her hardest. Both Cinder _and_ Ozpin used magic in this fight, but it is still mightily impressive that Cinder was still able to keep up with him in terms of fighting skill. This fight alone showcases that Cinder Fall is most likely the second most skilled fighter in the entire series (besides Ozpin himself, of course).
Two of my favourite episodes, Yang losing an arm, Torchwich bites the dust, Amber dead, Pyrrha dead, and of course the existence of the queen of Grimm, Salem herself.
"You're not gonna end the episode there." The look of disappointment of like. How dare it end there. Also we all agree on the loss of Roman, he is still a fan favourite villain even when we're up to V8
3x11 is such a fire episode, it was a HUGE episode when it came out, definitely a turning point in RWBY (Velvet's moment make tear up still, just her going off....and it just goes off the rails from there until...Pyrra.)
"Can we just have a win" *Everyone else* "No this is volume 3." That said now you can watch the first season of RWBY Chibi, it's good therapy after this volume. Go back to Volume 1 episode one as well as the first few World of Remnants, then realize the voice is the same as the black queen at end. All this time, the narrator of the story was evil.
What you didn't catch until the end of the segment, (Don't worry, I missed the first two and only caught on on the third) is Velvet was mimicking other people, and scenes we've seen before. (Others have explained the lore, I'll explain the Cinematography) First Velvet pulls out Crescent Rose, and mimic's Ruby's fighting style with scenes from the Red Trailer. She then takes a parry stance and Myrtenaster to follow the practiced stance of Weiss that we see every time she fights. She's so practiced that she has VERY obvious motions that she's done repeatedly. She then unloads with Ember Celica, dishing out explosions just like Yang does during the fight with the Nevermore during the Emerald Forest exam. To round out team RWBY she pulls out Gambol Shroud, and mimics several scenes with Blake, most particularly a counter from Black trailer. After throwing Gambol Shroud's sheath into the Paladin, she unleashes a torrent of bullets from Gianduja, Coco's weapon. Notice how weak they were though? Coco's semblance "Amps up" her strikes and bullets, so weapons have more power than before, so it's in keeping that Velvet's version is much weaker! The cinematography pulls from the Grimm attack after the train crash. Specifically after a Grimm, "Blew up (her) favorite clothing store. Prepare to die." When the Paladin throws a punch she swaps to Sun's Ruyi Jingu Bang (Or as he calls them Ruyi Bang and Jingu Bang) and takes the strike using the velocity to carry herself up it's arm, a skill that Sun must have some MAJOR skill to be able to pull off. And has, during the PREVIOUS fight Sun had with a Paladin piloted by Roman. Once into the air, She brings out Magnhild, Nora's hammer to strike down. Similar to finishing the Death Stalker in the Emerald Forest exam. Finally she mimics Penny's "Floating Array" pulling off the delicate strikes and giant laser from the Docks fight! This scene, from a Cinematography standpoint is KILLER. And I LOVE IT FOR IT.

One of the things I initially loved about the Silver Eyes thing and Qrow turning into a bird was that they showed that Maidens were NOT the only magic in the world. Maiden powers might be the thing that everyone fights over, but there's other magic as well, hinting at mysteries and lore waiting to be discovered.

The woman at the end is the "she" cinder referred to to ozpin. And shes the narrator from the very first episode and the first few "world of remnants" short clips. Its interesting in going back to the first episode and listening to salem/ozpin narrate conversation in the beginning now knowing shes the big bad. Puts a new context on the scene Also if u go back to the yang vs adam fight. When he slashes her and the scene becomes just silhouettes u can see her arm detach

Yes, Roman was a well conceived and "executed" classic comic book type villain! Some of the best lines and monologues in the series! Excellently written and voice acted, Roman will be missed! On a lighter note, is Neo available now? Not like anyone has a chance, though. I hear she's on some sort of quest now? (;]D,
The place where Cinder shot Pyrrha was in the Achilles Tendon, because the legend she is based on is Achilles, a Greek hero who’s mother dipped him in the river Styx making him invincible save for the one spot where she held him by his ankle. Pyrrha is known as the invincible girl on the tournament circuit but she’s not anymore than Achilles was. Also her name Pyrrha references a pyretic victory; a victory that comes at so great a cost it is synonymous with defeat. They have been planning this for a while, but damn does it hurt.

Velvet replicates weapons and movements of others. That is the reason she takes so many pictures lol they are not to keep as memory but its needed for her. Although im sure some she keeps as memory
It cuts her very deep when she has to use a weapon of someone she knows is dead and therefore can never be replaced. She does however remember how to fight like everyone she has ever seen
Oh, want to make another comment about when she said 'I'm so proud of Weiss'. The amount of growth that Weiss did from volume 1 to 3 is great, at first she didnt trust the faunus in volume 1 then here in volume 3, she rushes to velvets side to try to block a major hit for a faunus.

So Pyra's fate was foreshadowed by her name, Pyra from pyrrhic and Nikos after Nike the goddess of victory together they make pyrrhic victory, which means winning at too great a cost.

ok so velvet's weapon, anasidora, works perfectly with her semblance, photographic memory (i think thats what its called) anasidora is the camera. when she takes a picture of a weapon, she can recreate it with hard light dust, but it only survives for a couple hits/attacks her semblance lets her copy other people's fighting styles, which works with anasidora to allow her to use the weapons she creates exactly how the original user can
Velvet is an electronics genius and invented Anisadora, her camera, that captures images of weapons and reproduces them in hard light for about 5 seconds. Her semblance is being able to pick up a weapon and knowing exactly how to use them without practice. She can also mix and match techniques - pretty lethal, but she burns through lots of "pictures" quickly.

Roman’s death, while not universally liked, is symbolically destroying his self-serving philosophy as he is full of negative feeling, spite towards Ruby’s optimism and her interference (and her possibly killing Neo)... and so the Grimm ignore Ruby, optimistic and brave, heroic Ruby, while focusing squarely on him. That is why his “surviving” ends there... As for Qrow, it USED to just be a name for him. Not anymore, however...
That little adam scene is why he's one of my favorite characters design and concept wise, granted I think his dialogue could be done a bit better but thats what we're dealing with.

No that isn't Raven. That is the true Queen, Salem. Volume 3 is devastatingly beautiful, we lose Penny and Pyrhha and the kids all grow as a result from that. Now you can watch all the RWBY clips for all the crows and black birds that just seemingly randomly show up.
Ok you’ve made it, you’ve finished the Beacon arc! Now some notes/warnings: 1) vol 3 was the last volume that the show creator, Monty Oum had a direct had in as he sadly passed away during its preproduction. And there are some who see this as the last good/ ligament volume of the show bc of it. 2: after vol 3 the shows animation engine was changed from a program called Poser to a program called Maya. This makes all later volume look notably different. 3: due to the change in engine and loss of the head animator, The mad lad known as Monty Oum, may he Rest In Peace, the shows action takes a dip in fluidity and general quality but this does eventually return as the crew get better. 4: the tone of the show is much darker now, as you guessed, the levity isn’t gone but is no longer the normal state of the show. 5: remember to have fun and not get stuck in the details, the lore of remnant only gets stranger from here and some things like how dust, aura, and semblance actually work get better explained/ altered if you just roll with it the show is way more fun. i know i already commented but im so glad youre enjoying the series. i like to refer to volume 3 as "a girl worth fighting song" the series so far as been fun and for the most part light hearted with just basic super hero highschool kind of show. volume 3 ending is the genre shift that comes at the end of the song, where reality hits them, they are at war, people are going to die, nobody is safe, and if the heros want to win they need to start taking things a lot more seriously
Cue the "Big Bad Wicked Witch!" Trauma and nightmares for everyone until the gave us RWBY Chibi, and whole year till they gave us Volume 4! Bloody marketing genius! (;]D,
Velvet has Photographic Reflexes as her semblance. She can perfectly copy any fighting skills she sees someone use. The weapon replication came from her camera that is her weapon along with the box she carries it in. The box is like a 3D printer for weapons that are made based on the weapons she’s taken photos of and the weapons are made of Hard Light dust. The reason Coco told her “not to waste it” was in reference to the dust. It’s very hard to come by. Using it when it’s not absolutely necessary would be ill advised. You need a good dose of RWBY Chibi now. Everyone does after Volume 3.

Yup this is what snowballed my way into the series. I fought to get through vol 1 & 2, but by vol 3 I was heavily hooked. Then the finale happened, and blam been watching it every since :D Its rough seeing the Pyrrah scene still every time. Considering I liked Penny, Pyrrah, and Yang this season was a for sure slap in my face lol.

I heard she can get 2 uses out of a picture before it's destroyed, but that at least explains why her pictures were always of weapons XD

Literally velvet is one of my favoritw characters if she truly masters all those weapons she'd be the most OP character.

Go back to Volume 1 episode one as well as the first few World of Remnants, then realize the voice is the same as the black queen at end. All this time, the narrator of the story was evil.

What you didn't catch until the end of the segment, (Don't worry, I missed the first two and only caught on on the third) is Velvet was mimicking other people, and scenes we've seen before. (Others have explained the lore, I'll explain the Cinematography)
First Velvet pulls out Crescent Rose, and mimic's Ruby's fighting style with scenes from the Red Trailer.
She then takes a parry stance and Myrtenaster to follow the practiced stance of Weiss that we see every time she fights. She's so practiced that she has VERY obvious motions that she's done repeatedly.
She then unloads with Ember Celica, dishing out explosions just like Yang does during the fight with the Nevermore during the Emerald Forest exam.
To round out team RWBY she pulls out Gambol Shroud, and mimics several scenes with Blake, most particularly a counter from Black trailer.
After throwing Gambol Shroud's sheath into the Paladin, she unleashes a torrent of bullets from Gianduja, Coco's weapon. Notice how weak they were though? Coco's semblance "Amps up" her strikes and bullets, so weapons have more power than before, so it's in keeping that Velvet's version is much weaker! The cinematography pulls from the Grimm attack after the train crash. Specifically after a Grimm, "Blew up (her) favorite clothing store. Prepare to die."
When the Paladin throws a punch she swaps to Sun's Ruyi Jingu Bang (Or as he calls them Ruyi Bang and Jingu Bang) and takes the strike using the velocity to carry herself up it's arm, a skill that Sun must have some MAJOR skill to be able to pull off. And has, during the PREVIOUS fight Sun had with a Paladin piloted by Roman.
Once into the air, She brings out Magnhild, Nora's hammer to strike down. Similar to finishing the Death Stalker in the Emerald Forest exam.
Finally she mimics Penny's "Floating Array" pulling off the delicate strikes and giant laser from the Docks fight!
This scene, from a Cinematography standpoint is KILLER. And I LOVE IT FOR IT.

Something i love is that Salem the villian at the end scene of 3x12 is actually the narrator for the entire show and the world of remnant videos.

One of the things I initially loved about the Silver Eyes thing and Qrow turning into a bird was that they showed that Maidens were NOT the only magic in the world. Maiden powers might be the thing that everyone fights over, but there's other magic as well, hinting at mysteries and lore waiting to be discovered.
If I could sum up each Volume of the Beacon arc with a single word...
- Volume 1: "Beginning"
- Volume 2: "Learning"

Velvet's weapon is Anesidora, a camera that records the weapons that she takes a picture of and later materializes them using hard-light dust. Her semblance is Photographic Memory, it allows her to copy other people's fighting styles.
The woman at the end is the "she" cinder referred to to ozpin. And shes the narrator from the very first episode and the first few "world of remnants" short clips.
Its interesting in going back to the first episode and listening to salem/ozpin narrate conversation in the beginning now knowing shes the big bad. Puts a new context on the scene
Also if u go back to the yang vs adam fight. When he slashes her and the scene becomes just silhouettes u can see her arm detach
And Yang's arm can be seen dissolving into dust, so you know it's really gone...{heavy sigh}. Well, welcome to the fandom! (;]D,
Oh good another reactor that enjoyed Roman Torchwich. I was bummed that they killed him off, I enjoyed his sarcasm and wit that he gave the flavor of villain to this series.
Yes, Roman was a well conceived and "executed" classic comic book type villain! Some of the best lines and monologues in the series! Excellently written and voice acted, Roman will be missed! The place where Cinder shot Pyrrha was in the Achilles Tendon, because the legend she is based on is Achilles, a Greek hero who’s mother dipped him in the river Styx making him invincible save for the one spot where she held him by his ankle. Pyrrha is known as the invincible girl on the tournament circuit but she’s not anymore than Achilles was. Also her name Pyrrha references a pyretic victory; a victory that comes at so great a cost it is synonymous with defeat. They have been planning this for a while, but damn does it hurt.

Velvet replicates weapons and movements of others. That is the reason she takes so many pictures lol they are not to keep as memory but its needed for her. Although im sure some she keeps as memory
It cuts her very deep when she has to use a weapon of someone she knows is dead and therefore can never be replaced. She does however remember how to fight like everyone she has ever seen

Oh, want to make another comment about when she said 'I'm so proud of Weiss'. The amount of growth that Weiss did from volume 1 to 3 is great, at first she didnt trust the faunus in volume 1 then here in volume 3, she rushes to velvets side to try to block a major hit for a faunus.

So Pyra's fate was foreshadowed by her name, Pyra from pyrrhic and Nikos after Nike the goddess of victory together they make pyrrhic victory, which means winning at too great a cost.
Excellent catch on Pyrrha's full name, not many have noticed and discussed that! And as a female Achilles, Pyrrha was a truly noble warrior, fandom misses the great one every day! And we slightly twisted fans miss Roman, too! (;]D,

anasidora is the camera. when she takes a picture of a weapon, she can recreate it with hard light dust, but it only survives for a couple hits/attacks
her semblance lets her copy other people's fighting styles, which works with anasidora to allow her to use the weapons she creates exactly how the original user can

Velvet is an electronics genius and invented Anisadora, her camera, that captures images of weapons and reproduces them in hard light for about 5 seconds. Her semblance is being able to pick up a weapon and knowing exactly how to use them without practice. She can also mix and match techniques - pretty lethal, but she burns through lots of "pictures" quickly.

Roman’s death, while not universally liked, is symbolically destroying his self-serving philosophy as he is full of negative feeling, spite towards Ruby’s optimism and her interference (and her possibly killing Neo)... and so the Grimm ignore Ruby, optimistic and brave, heroic Ruby, while focusing squarely on him. That is why his “surviving” ends there...
As for Qrow, it USED to just be a name for him. Not anymore, however...

That little adam scene is why he's one of my favorite characters design and concept wise, granted I think his dialogue could be done a bit better but thats what we're dealing with.

No that isn't Raven. That is the true Queen, Salem. Volume 3 is devastatingly beautiful, we lose Penny and Pyrhha and the kids all grow as a result from that. Now you can watch all the RWBY clips for all the crows and black birds that just seemingly randomly show up.
Ok you’ve made it, you’ve finished the Beacon arc! Now some notes/warnings:
1) vol 3 was the last volume that the show creator, Monty Oum had a direct had in as he sadly passed away during its preproduction. And there are some who see this as the last good/ ligament volume of the show bc of it.
2: after vol 3 the shows animation engine was changed from a program called Poser to a program called Maya. This makes all later volume look notably different.
3: due to the change in engine and loss of the head animator, The mad lad known as Monty Oum, may he Rest In Peace, the shows action takes a dip in fluidity and general quality but this does eventually return as the crew get better.
4: the tone of the show is much darker now, as you guessed, the levity isn’t gone but is no longer the normal state of the show.
5: remember to have fun and not get stuck in the details, the lore of remnant only gets stranger from here and some things like how dust, aura, and semblance actually work get better explained/ altered if you just roll with it the show is way more fun.

i know i already commented but im so glad youre enjoying the series. i like to refer to volume 3 as "a girl worth fighting song" the series so far as been fun and for the most part light hearted with just basic super hero highschool kind of show. volume 3 ending is the genre shift that comes at the end of the song, where reality hits them, they are at war, people are going to die, nobody is safe, and if the heros want to win they need to start taking things a lot more seriously

Velvet has Photographic Reflexes as her semblance. She can perfectly copy any fighting skills she sees someone use. The weapon replication came from her camera that is her weapon along with the box she carries it in. The box is like a 3D printer for weapons that are made based on the weapons she’s taken photos of and the weapons are made of Hard Light dust. The reason Coco told her “not to waste it” was in reference to the dust. It’s very hard to come by. Using it when it’s not absolutely necessary would be ill advised.
You need a good dose of RWBY Chibi now. Everyone does after Volume 3.

Yup this is what snowballed my way into the series. I fought to get through vol 1 & 2, but by vol 3 I was heavily hooked. Then the finale happened, and blam been watching it every since :D Its rough seeing the Pyrrah scene still every time. Considering I liked Penny, Pyrrah, and Yang this season was a for sure slap in my face lol.
