I never liked the remastered version of this scene. The pitch blackness and the solid form of the gravemind, like chitin, are a better fit. Not to mention, the cameraa shots are better and more ominous as well.
That is so creepy. Listening closely and it sound like a voice going along with the Gravemind, but sobbing and fearful. This is next-level stuff that Bungie did. Edit: to help you out. It becomes easier to distinguish after the Prophet and Monitor are killed/destroyed/consumed.
one thing i always wondered is the ending " fate had us meet as foes, but this ring will make us Brothers" was this the gravemind kinda teasing them knowing without halo activating well both will one day end up in the great biomass that was the Grave mind( till what happened in halo 3) ? or something deeper?
