    This is gonna be a 2 parter. In the next part we’ll explore the arranger and how i use it to take something from ‘cool loop’ to more polished song like those in our Song Sketch Series.

    subscribed. Been tempted to pull the trigger on this device. I appreciate your approach on these tutorials. Keep them coming. Would love a tutorial on creating ambient music… I can’t seem to find deluge tutorials on that genre. Love your work.

      Thanks a ton! I highly highly suggest pulling the trigger on the deluge. I only intended to get one as a kind of unique synth to add to my DAW set up and at best a sketch pad for doing things more mobile but it’s quickly become my favorite piece of gear. It’s much more powerful and deep than I thought and I don’t think I written anything on my DAW since I got it 6 or so months a go. It’s my total go to anytime I’m feeling creative (or and especially - when I’m not!)
      My most recent song from scratch tutorial called ‘getting weird’ is more on the ambient scale if not totally there yet, but I’ll have some
      Ambient one’s coming VERY soon. I just bought a 1010 Lemondrop granular synth to pair with the Deluge and it’s like an ambient dream machine! Stay Tuned!
      Cheers!

    Sounds good to me. Where do you get your samples? I did have a Splice sub but it seemed expensive for what I could find when I needed it. I really do like the Deluge. I just wish you didn’t have to pull the SD card to load samples and organize things. Some of these community updates coming look great.

      Thanks for listening! I’m releasing the finished track later today!
      I haven’t tried any of the sample subscription services, that’s a rather new thing right? Most of my samples I’ve either made myself or collected over years and years for work in my DAW that I’ve just transferred over to the Deluge. I do highly recommend the Samples From Mars stuff - really great for drum one shots and synth samples and multisamples (not a whole lot of loops tho.) I like sampling old movies and educational videos for random vocal snippets. The Internet Archive (Perlinger Archive) is great for finding that kind of stuff. Sometimes Music Radar has had random free sample packs over the years too.
      I haven’t found loading stuff to the SD too cumbersome once I set up my initial file structure. Now I just drop new stuff/folders into my existing structure and it’s pretty quick. Could def be worse! Haha. Super stoked about some of these community updates! Synthstrom was already doing a great job updating the firmware, but going open source is gonna be a game changer for ingenuity!

      I hear ya man. I got a bunch of those lol! I've found that a lot of times coming back to them a couple weeks later with fresh ears will often times kick start em back into gear. Another way is just jumping straight into arranging with whatever you already have. I find that usually allows the song to start telling me what it wants to be and makes it a little more clear what else needs to be written.

    Basic question - I’m new to all of this. I’m a guitarist looking to expand. I’ll be getting a deluge soon, and thinking about getting a separate synth - likely the Korg Wavestate. I want those tasty ambient sounds. Can I just connect the Korg directly to the deluge and record into it? I know I can do it with my guitar, and I assume I can with a synth?

    • @oaklandghosts0510
      @oaklandghosts0510  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sure can! There’s a line in and then you can just record to an audio track. It’s actually easier with a synth than a guitar as you don’t need any kind of preamp. You can even set up a midi track and sequence in the deluge to control the Korg (or at the very least let the deluge be the master clock so the fx are all tempo synced) and record the audio coming in. It’s pretty awesome!

      Most the time absolutely not. 😂 sometimes I say Del-U-ge and sometimes I say dah-looge 🤷‍♂️ I know the proper way is the former like the downpour but it just rolls off the tongue weird when I’m talking too fast. 🌧️
