    Putting the raisers on a long track to help fill and mark transitions is one of the best advice for live preforming I got in years - thanks Jeremy

    I hope this isn't an overstatement, but Jeremy might be one of the coolest, most consistently good producers in electronic music today. The things he whips up for tech demos and tutorials consistently outdo big label EDM artists with millions of streams. Thank you for making such compelling art and for sharing it with us.

    Love the idea of having 32 bar risers and fallers set up and looping

  • @elowine
    @elowine ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Still waiting to get the invite to get mine retrofitted, this looks very promising!
    Wish the process was a bit more transparent, like some way to check position in the queue. But I also understand that its an insane task to manage. Even the possibility to be able to upgrade hardware like this is amazing.
    I always kinda struggled with the lack of a proper display, especially if you don't use it that often (and your brain is potato like me) you can start learning the thing all over again.

  • @joshc9201
    @joshc9201 ปีที่แล้ว +23

    I got the retrofit done. It really makes it feel like a completely new device. Also, good on synthstrom for offering this as a retrofit and not a deluge 1.5 version that would be a completely new purchase. I don’t know if there is another company right now that is doing as much to maximize the life of an existing product.

    • @jaysire
      @jaysire ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would love to have mine retrofit, but I haven't really seen any evidence that it's groundbreaking except for the fact that sample browsing becomes easier. The rest appears to be as easy or hard as before.

    • @patrickc7016
      @patrickc7016 ปีที่แล้ว

      Know that synthstrom announced they are open sourcing the code. Im sure that for the near future the community program mods will largely revolve around the OLED version, BUT id imagine it is only a matter of time before users start releasing mobile and PC companion interfaces altogether.

    • @jaysire
      @jaysire ปีที่แล้ว

      @@patrickc7016 I sure hope so. There are so many cool ideas floating around.

    • @joshc9201
      @joshc9201 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jaysire You are not wrong. If I am completely honest my main reason for doing the retrofit was not necessarily about the display itself. I wanted to support the idea behind it and that offering an upgrade path for hardware is something that consumers are interested in. That being said, it does make a lot of the operations much easier to quickly read on the display (the X still got me every time on the LED). Even just switching OSC types, or the current note. Song/Sample management does become soo much easier. The one advantage of the LED screen is that I became so used to just using the shortcuts. Which makes exploring ideas and sound design pretty quick. I also love that they are maintaining feature parity with the old screen. So that it remains an optional update. I could see some companies implementing features that would require the updated version.

    • @jaysire
      @jaysire ปีที่แล้ว

      @@joshc9201 I agree with everything you said. I would probably do the retrofit at some point if they are still offering EU slots. I don't have a receipt for my device, so I don't want to send it somewhere where I might incur taxes upon return.

    • @matthodek
      @matthodek 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Wichenroder I most often use a clock that gives me 16th note resolution, so 16 clock pulses per bar in 4/4 time. If I want the riser to auto trigger every 16 bars, I would use a clock division of 256. That is 16 pulses per bar x 16 bars = 256 pulses. So that clock divider would put out one pulse every 256 pulses of the main clock.

    Jeremy, I really like my screen on the force, but love the flexibility and portability of the deluge especially with this new oled. Do you prefer one over the other? Sidebar: a video on pointing out the dangers of fomo with the push 3 and the disingenuous marketing that ableton is pulling not clearly stating it doesn’t include ableton suite would be a banger for sure

    I want a sample groovebox that can send sample auditioning only to the headphone output, and not the master line out. So you can have a headset monitoring the whole mix, but no one else would hear when you're flipping through samples to find the right one. Only when performed/sequenced

    • @RedMeansRecording

      The scenes in Octatrack let you lock parameters so I can lock a filter up or down or a reverb up or something like that to create a transitional mood and then use the fader to transition there and back.

    Hey, great stuff, thanks for all your work and your videos ❤ one question : if I understand well, you have everything coming from the Deluge except the bass. Is it an issue when it comes to get a good mix/balance between all the elements because everything (from kick to vocals and pads) is goin through the OT? Same question for the OT FX (through and neighbour tracks) : how to play with these fx if everything is going through the same channel except the bass? Or maybe fx on your OT are just saturation and comp and not fx such as delay or reverb?
