  • The Evesham Loop Railway Line consisted of 11 stations between Barnt Green and Evesham. These were Barnt Green, Alvechurch, Redditch, Studley & Astwood Bank, Coughton, Alcester, Wixford, Broom Junction, Salford Priors, Harvington and Evesham. It opened in stages between 1859 and 1868. It was closed in stages between 1962 and 1963. Only the part between Redditch and Barnt Green survives. A previous video (Part 1) reviewed this section. This video (Part 2) reviews Redditch down to Alcester and any surviving track beds, bridges and stations.

2:43 that’s where the line used to continue onwards from redditch
And now it’s the pedestrians that are now walking on this section on what was the line extension from redditch
3:55 I’m glad that the tunnel of redditch is still standing but it’s blocked up by the fencing on one end meaning no one can come out the other end of the tunnel
7:06 I believe everyone is gonna be coming to this area and thinking there used to be a railway line here
7:44 I’m glad that this station and the main building is still here but it’s now private residence which means no access
9:27 I’m glad that this station is still here too but that too is private residence
12:02 and that station building is still here too even through that station like the other two before it is now private residence

if you walk this line you can still find many things
the old tunnel under mount pleasant
    a bridge near the hospital
an old bridge / track bed walk in to studley
    as well as studley station
along the highway just out of alcester there is track bed and a signal box

I’d love to see inside the tunnel but it’s gated at both ends.

I would say yes in early and late Victorian times and from the 40s to the early 60s less and less till it closed in the early 60s.
