I failed to meet my height and weight for boot camp twice and it devastated me, but I took that failure and short coming and worked my way through and I made it. as long as you don't give up on yourself then the drill instructor will never give up on you. Even now that I am out of the Corps I still love the experience that I had. A Marine isn't determined by their physical status before boot camp but the effort and unwavering resolve does.

You know it's crazy when ip was a kid, I used to see these marine commercials come on after my cartoons finished and I used to never want to be a marine, I had no interest for it in other words. Almost 11 Years later who knew that I would end up in the process of enlisting to join the marine corps.. All I can say is its amazing what can happen in a few years from being that scared 8 year old kid to becoming that fearless 18 year old man who knew he had to prove himself and take on the challenge and become a marine. My son enlisted at 17. He tested out of most of his senior year requirements to graduate. He left for boot camp a young, smart ass teenager. I cried all day that day. I was scared. The next time I saw my son was at graduation. My teenager was gone. I saw a man in uniform, proud, strong and absolutely sure of himself. I thank the Marines for that transformation. Go to a recruiter. Most likely you'll be in the delayed entry program to build up strength before you enter bootcamp. My recruiter told me it's okay if I'm not a good swimmer as he didn't even know how to swim himself. The swim DIs will teach you; swim DIs aren't like the regular DIs.

I am British but am looking to move to America, I am still undecided on whether I should join the Royal Marines or go to America and pursue my military career there, how long would it take before I am legally allowed to Inlist in the US Marines since I'm British?

Really like a month or two you don't have to be a citizen and they accsept any one

You know it's crazy when ip was a kid, I used to see these marine commercials come on after my cartoons finished and I used to never want to be a marine, I had no interest for it in other words. Almost 11 Years later who knew that I would end up in the process of enlisting to join the marine corps.. All I can say is its amazing what can happen in a few years from being that scared 8 year old kid to becoming that fearless 18 year old man who knew he had to prove himself and take on the challenge and become a marine. To all my future marine brothers it's a complete honor to serve with you and may you crush any obstacles in your way!! Oorah

I'm British, a few years till I'm old enough to move to America and join up. I really don't know if the USMC is for me though, it's easier to get in than our Royal Marines. I think I'd want to join the US army as a EOD specialist or something 'special'. Not just a normal flipping soldier.
USMC is harder to get in than RMC plus if you aren't sure, it isn't for you

I think his point was about the fact that 99% of the time the army is bringing war to other countries, many times for economical interest, respect to the marines i just wish they could fight for our rights more often rather than for some assholes.

My son enlisted at 17. He tested out of most of his senior year requirements to graduate. He left for boot camp a young, smart ass teenager. I cried all day that day. I was scared. The next time I saw my son was at graduation. My teenager was gone. I saw a man in uniform, proud, strong and absolutely sure of himself. I thank the Marines for that transformation. I want to be a marine Sooo bad but I'm a terrible swimmer and kind of scrawny not sure if I'm strong enough to be a marine.
I'm joining at the end of summer. You can do it man don't doubt yourself.
Go to a recruiter. Most likely you'll be in the delayed entry program to build up strength before you enter bootcamp. My recruiter told me it's okay if I'm not a good swimmer as he didn't even know how to swim himself. The swim DIs will teach you; swim DIs aren't like the regular DIs.

Optic Legacy Don't worry about swim qual.....that will take care of itself when you go to MCRD, EorW.....if you can do 10 pull-up 75 crunches in 2minutes and run 3miles in 24 min....you can complete Marine Corps Bootcamp....because believe me WE will get you were you need to be!!!
