I think a 2 way dash cam is a must to protect yourself from road issues accidents and problematic passengers... In case there is a doubt or argument you watch the videos. Everyone who spends a significant time on the road should have one.
100% agree! My wife recently got in an accident (fortunately with no one in the car) and the first thing we were thinking is how much we wish we had a dash cam!
3000+ trips and I think a camera might have helped me about 4 times. Not going to worry about it. Life is too short and I don't want my passengers thinking their conversations are being recorded. What happens in my Uber stays in my Uber. I am taking a risk but I am a big boy and I can handle it. Plus you always get some cool stories to tell people about your worst Uber riders.
I can agree with that. Up until this point, a dash cam would have helped me 0 times, but never say never... I think it would be fun to have recordings of awful passengers personally.
1:47 #1 Buy all weather mats 3:50 #2 Buy air neutralizer/deodorizer spray 5:14 #3 Buy individually wrapped candy in bulk 6:59 #4 Buy bottled water 8:21 #5 Playlist with good music 10:04 #6 Car cleanliness 11:26 #7 Promote conversation 14:02 #8 Dress appropriately 15:22 #9 Ask rider if they have a preferred route 17:18 #10 When trip finishes, make eye contact and thank rider
All really good tips. I had not thought about all weather mats, but will be buying some once I hit my second $1K in earnings. Watching out for them on eBay now... Bought my dash cam with my first $1K in earnings. Love the candy in cup holders idea. Already doing most of these. Really nice to have other customer friendly drivers confirm best practices :)
Haha! People ask me about that sometimes, but honestly, I just love the way the music makes me feel. If I'm by myself I'd probably choose 80s rock sometimes, but it's not always a fan favorite.
I have a 4.93 and I don't offer water/juice/candy/gum. I ask passengers how their day/evening/night is going, respond accordingly and get them where they are going. The only thing that I do when I drop them off is ask them if they have their phones, wallets, keys ext, and tell them to have a good day/evening/night. Other than that I just keep the car mostly clean inside and out and make sure it doesn't smell bad.
That's awesome advice especially for driving at night! I left my wallet in a Lyft in Hawaii and didn't have it until 3 days later when I was leaving I finally got in touch with our driver. Was a horrifying trip!
I have a 4.96 been driving 4 years over 5 thousand rides. Did none of them. No candies no water. Good music, iphone charger, and good conversation. Remember, its nor a limo service. They know that. You don't have to go all the way out. People will rate you 1 just because they dont like your hair lol.
California Rideshare, ignore these haters. I think what you're doing is great and don't ever stop. You seem to make a phenomenal experience for not only the rider but yourself also. Hope you keep killing it and keep making videos. They are very interesting to me.
I'm not too concerned about what other people have to say. I'm fine with people disagreeing as to what makes someone a top Uber driver, but there really isn't a fair metric to use besides driver rating. I recently took a ride from a driver with 11,000 trips. His car was filthy, but he was a pretty nice guy just trying to make a living. I gave him a 5 and tipped him like I do every ride I take. Most people obviously don't have a problem with him because I think his rating was like a 4.81, but it's plain to see a few little improvements would help him stand out and probably get tipped more often. If you're going to use Uber as a second or even a first job, you might as well treat it like a job right? Costs very little to do the little extra that I do and it yields results.
Great advice, pal. You are very articulate in explaining your recommendations and you obviously understand "professionalism" and "customer satisfaction". If Uber has any kind of "training" program, they should promote you to be a trainer of the newbies. Good job!
Thanks for the support Jodie! Seems silly, but I constantly think to myself "would my parents be proud of the way I conduct myself or proud of my driving style?"
I agree 💯 I am 4.94 Uber driver in San Diego And do exactly the same thing and I was shocked when u suggested reggae. As playlist because the same idea you mentioned that made me chose reggae over any other type of music. KUDOS 👍🏾
I just started last week driving for Uber part time and about to hit 100 trips here soon. All the tips you have provided I’ve been doing and definitely works with the riders giving me a 5 star rating (except for one 4 star.) Good customer service goes a long way at making the riders trust you and making their ride as comfortable as possible. All I can say really is to stay consistent and have them leave with a smile. Mahalo from Hawaii! 🤙🏻
I hate drivers who put on too much perfume. I had a driver who had 3 air fresheners on the vent!! And that gave me and my wife headaches! Just keep it odorless please! And I am just a rider!
I'm a driver, and clean my car prior to driving. I hate all scenty things, so, you'd only be smelling a windex or light cleaner scent if you got in my car. I check it after every ride, and I'll stop, get out, and clean shake carpet just so when the next rider gets in, it looks fresh and clean.
These are really good tips for the newer drivers and for those with low ratings. I always have water, snacks, tissues, and phone chargers. These actually help a lot when you have a long distance trip. Another thing I started having on my car is emesis bags (those are the blue bags you see at the hospital for vomiting) they come really handy for those riders with motion sickness or your typical drunk late at night. I have a first aid bag with a few OTC medications. I work EMS full time so I can relate a lot when im doing uber.
@@TroveLessTraveled_ Yes ! last night one of my late night passengers started vomiting instantly but I was glad he got a hold of the bag in time. Nothing spilled but the awful smell was in the air, he was even nice enough to tip me 12 bucks on a 2 mile ride. Honestly its a lot better having those because they're small and you can close them to cover the smell. I cant imagine going out of service because you need to clean up, been there done that and it sucks. best luck to you !
Great video. I especially liked the info about all weather floor mats, your reggae play list and how listening to that is like being on vacation, and about making eye contact when you say thank you for riding with me.
In LA you have to pretend you're on vacation to help you get over being in traffic. It helps lighten the mood when waiting at stop lights as well. Thanks for your support Cappy!
Great video man! I use a great business module and have success, but something told me to watch your video. Sure enough, 1-9 I exercise but you left a great tip with 10. Great 101 training session👍🏼
Thanks for the compliment! I'm sure there are many things other drivers utilize to help them out. I am sure I can improve by using other's tips as well, these are just things that have personally helped me and I'm glad I could add 1 to your arsenal!
I hate Uber so much got fired 4500 rides 4.92 and got fired for safety concerns . I never got in an accident . I went above an beyond for every rider in Boston
I don't know who would dislike your video. You have a solid rationale and you're a clever businessman. You know that the customer is boss, and you put yourself in their shoes in order to see what they would and wouldn't like. Thanks for your video.
I appreciate your comment! Anytime I'm working I try to take it seriously. Obviously as a part-time driver (and I'm sure all part-time drivers would feel the same way) I hope there's a day I don't have to drive at all! But until my other business pursuits get to that point I'll keep hustling and netting over $20/hr on a side gig that is mildly enjoyable!
4.99 rating in Lyft. Smile. Don’t be an asshole. Keep your car clean. Drive well, keeping as much of a distance between you and the car ahead of you as possible. No sudden stops and fast accelerations. All stuff you’ve heard before but it’s really the most important. Make your car smell nice but don’t overdo it. I use organic essential oils personally. Ask your rider how he or she is doing/how his or her day is going. Their response gives me an idea if they want to talk or not about 75% of the time. I also play casual and relaxing music.
I have 4.97 with 1240 rides in less then a year (which im proud of myself for so i understand)... However love the video i think all drivers should naturally take pride in whatever work ya do and do all those things you had listed... Great list! Need more drivers like ya!😎
Thanks for the support! Obviously you're a great member of the rideshare community and it's people like you that make it possible for people like me to create a livelihood using the Uber platform!
lol i have 20k rides and my rating is at 4.97 my car is rarely ever clean, dont offer chargers or snacks. just 1 good advice i can give is to be a good peoples person
If you know how to communicate with people you'll rarely have a problem being successful in life. Most people are probably not as gifted as you Ezra. I mean that will all sincerity. For those people who drive and struggle with a language barrier (maybe an immigrant who doesn't speak English well yet), someone who is a bit introverted, or maybe just isn't a confident driver, these tips may be invaluable for them. Thanks for the comment! I hope you continue to make Uber an incredible platform for part-time drivers like me to benefit from, both as a rider and a driver.
Number #2 made me laugh so much! I will take this in consideration considering were legalizing here in Canada soon :) Thank you for your time and great advice -
I did candy at Halloween one year, but people are on vacation in my market...too many wrappers cluttering up my car! Not worth the hassle when I'm busy. Would rather have a clean car!
Some passengers are way too picky and they give a 1 🌟 rating.for the dumbest stuff they dont realize how much it hurts a drivers rating..like a dirty windshield. Great video i just drive safe and clean car and drop off were they have to be
Great profile, I’m 4.98 with 500 rides so far, just kind and friendly to riders and I always ask them what music they want on, of course keep the car clean and yeah that works pretty well.
The Uber trolls will try to bring you down with 1s. Just rise above. I get them too. That's why it's important to me to get as many satisfied people to leave a 5 rating, hence all the little things I do.
i uber full time in LA...(14 months) 4,646 rides... 4.92.................... febreeze is best.. i used to give water but most open it then put it back,.. nasty,, no more mints, they leave the trash everywhere,, or throw it out the window... or spit it out in my car.... done... no aux cord... just chargers
I have had 2 instances where people opened a water and then put it back. Can't understand what these people are thinking sometimes, but it's the nature of the job. People tend to do 1 of 3 things with their trash: put it in the cup holder, put it in the seat back pocket (not a big deal), or take it with them. I just keep an eye out and try to keep it clean. It pays off!
Brother, thank you for your advice. I learned few things from your video. However, my rate is 4.99% 98% acceptances and 3% canceled ride. I guess I can consider my self 1% uber top driver.
Closing in on 5400...your rating...pleased to meet you...lol...it is always great to meet a fellow Customer Service Professional...some of these jokers think this is just a job...
You Sir are indeed a top driver. Very professional and very logical. I'be been driving since October of 2017 and I also follow those rules myself. The 11th should be under no circumstance should the driver answer his phone and carry on a conversation. When you are driving pax it is all about them and there comfort and safety. You call them back when you drop off. Thank you! Great video😊
Thank you for the overwhelming support! I think if everyone were to view their rideshare driving as a professional experience they would see far better results, network better, and just overall feel better about themselves. I agree on tip #11
Heavy construction and congestion is my killing ratings in Chicago! Plus customers trying to bring too much luggage for a small car. These people act like they ordered a limo! Also most drivers don't have room to waste with water bottles and a cooler to keep them cool. I feel the review system is broken if you have to bribe customers with freebies! Just not right!
I've had that happen a few times to me as well with the luggage. I had passengers bring 5 suitcases for 3 people in my Prius for an UberX. They wouldn't fit in the trunk so I reasoned with them. I explained it would probably be a more comfortable albeit more expensive ride to cancel with me and take an UberXL or they could each put a suitcase on their lap. They chose a suitcase on each lap and left me a tip afterward. As far as bribing customers, for me it's twofold. Yes, it improves my ratings, but in my opinion (and the numbers match) I make it up and more in tips. I don't solicit tips or ratings. I just invested in myself and it's paid off. I'll tell this story again. I took a ride recently with a driver who had 11,000 trips. His car was filthy but his rating was still a 4.81. I think that was largely due to his kindness. I had no problem leaving him 5 stars. So if the only thing you can do is increase your happiness, that will probably be sufficient for most people. Thanks for the comment Nic and good luck out there!
I picked up an old guy this morning with his 2 grand daughters. He was baby sitting for his son and taking the oldest one (5 years old) to school. The youngest was a baby and I helped the guy install the carseat in the back and unhook it later. I had to take my son to school a little later. I took them to school and waited with them at a nearby gas station until another driver could pick them up for the return trip so I could leave for my son. The next driver was a real piece of work. Car was filthy inside and out. Young thuggy guy. Never offered to help with the rider's things and car seat. I felt bad for the old guy having to go from me to the other guy.
Michael, just shows how important it is to always be professional right? If your experience was positive enough to outshine the negative experience he may have had right after you, he will probably still choose Uber/Lyft in the future. For that, all of us in every city benefit. If he takes a trip to California and his experience with each of you was terrible he may choose another means of transportation and that affects me. See how we're all really on the same team?! Keep up the good work!
Good tips. Good video. One important tip is to know when a rider doesn't want to talk. I've been in rides where I'm clearly busy and the uber driver is still trying to talk to me. It's infuriating.
100% agree. I think that comes from experience. Most people are pretty introverted around new people anyways. I just ask a few quick questions and based on their responses I'll gauge if they'd just prefer to play on their phone in the back. Certainly, a skill to know when to shut up, but my wife is pretty vocal about it so I've been well trained!
I'm on my 50th ride and so far all I do is just ask hows everyone's day is going, find common ground conversation. If I get short answers and their stuck in their phone I just give friendly goodbye/good day.
You’re absolutely right. Within about 15 seconds I can tell if I’m going to have a good conversation with the passenger or it will be mostly silent. Either way doesn’t bother me, but it’s certainly more fun when you get to interact with new people from around the world!
Hey I was a passenger you picked up a few months ago and I enjoyed your prompt service. Btw I do appreciate the water but didn't take it only because I didn't know if it had been tampered with. Same goes with other drivers that offer candy or snacks. You just never know as a passenger.
No way! Whereabouts was I when I picked you up? I have heard people whisper in the back wondering if I drugged the candy. I suppose you can never be too sure. at least with the waters if the seal is unbroken then you should be safe, but you're right you just never know with anyone these days. I hope at least I left a good impression on you and you're encouraged to continue using Uber or Lyft for your transportation needs!
I have done over 1,100 trips with Uber and my rating is 4.97. I've done 7 of the 10 things you have suggested in your video. I three I have not done is have any wrapped candy, asked a rider if they had a preferred route, and I normally listen to sports radio and only on a few occasions have I been asked to switch to a music station.
I've definitely thought of keeping the Bill Simmons podcast on when passengers get in the car but I'm a fan of providing a neutral experience for riders. I think candy is a great way to improve your tips and I've found it to be helpful in growing my bottom line, but to each their own. As for asking a preferred destination, if I'm taking someone to work or taking an older local who I assume has a routine I think it's a good practice to ask. Older people tend to not rely on GPS and may not be familiar with the route the app provides. Other than that it sounds like you're killing it out there! Keep up the good work!
How do you know who is middle class and lower vs who is rich? Not everyone dresses like what they actyally make. I've seen millionairs in a basic tee-shirt, jeans and baseball cap.
@@bakadeshi_aunstudios Well I grew up in South Central LA and I know the neighborhoods that I pick up from most of the time in the LA area. I personally lived in So Cal all my life and have a pretty good idea of the person financial status when I pick them up and talk to them.
4.96 with over 4500 rides, two plus years, most of your suggestions are great, would not use reggae however, I use light jazz, instrumental only, very soft volume.
Hello Eric, I just subscribed to your channel. A very good video you put together here. I am with you on ALL 10 of your tips. #11 would be to offer charging cables. 5 STARS!!
Thanks for the tip! After another 500 trips I've been thinking for a few more tips I can suggest to people and that may be one of them. Also thanks for subscribing!
Bath and Body Works room sprays are perfect for keeping the car fresh...they are small but just two sprays gets the car smelling fresh. Everyone that gets in my car says “wow it smells great in here!”.
I wish I would have known about the referral code prior to signing up. I definitely would have used yours. Your video covered it all. Well done. To me it's all common sense, but sadly...a lot of people out there don't have that. So thanks for sharing, hopefully many will follow your lead. Looking forward to more of your videos as I begin my Uber journey.
2300 trips and 4.96 rating 1500+ 5 star ratings in Orlando Florida It CAN be done I detail my car, inside and out, EVERY DAY. I get many compliments on my vehicle cleanliness and car smell. I average 18 - 20% tips
It's a miracle worker right?!? Most people don't even know how much they smell but I would really hate if the next person in my car thinks it came from me!
It’s hilarious! I’m such an innocent, I didn’t know that was a pot smell. I thought those who smelled that way had been drinking a lot of gin! 😆 I was like, “Damn! How much gin did they drink to smell like that!?” Finally, I figured thinks out. Marijuana is NASTY, smells NASTY! Ugh! I’ve also had drunks get in my car that wreaked like a whiskey bottle! Gotta keep the car smelling good!
Always keeping bottle water and candy in back seat for your passengers is dumb.. More money out of your pocket for NOTHING.. I would NEVER drink bottle water that been in a car. Because when you leave bottle water in a car while its over 80 degrees outside. The plastic bottle will start to break down into the water. And the water turn toxic.. Only take about an hour or less for that plastic to break down while you inside a store or what ever.
Plus certain pax that take minimum fare rides ARE soo thirsty they take ALL the water u have. Like WTF. That made me stop having water in the car. Like its cute they got something FREE for their $4~6. So I will keep my 4.78 thanks. Also someone drank like 20% of a water & left it in there with the unopened waters! Imagine the person that grabbed that! Im sure "I" took a less than optimal rating for something I had no control over. Again No water. I saw no effect on tips.
Phillip thanks for the comment! I buy waters in bulk and including the CRV I last paid 12 cents per bottle at Superior in Huntington Park. I figure if 1 person out of 8 gives me a $1 tip it pays for itself. I only keep a few in the car (around 4) and they tend to all disappear by the end of me driving. I agree it's probably not great to leave waters in the car indefinitely. My Prius has the solar panel package so it regulates the temperature in the car when my car is parked and it's hot outside. It's not much warmer in my parked car than leaving it in the house, so I don't see a huge problem.
Will I agree, it seems like the minimum fare passengers tend to take the most amenities from me. I usually leave a single water on the seat back of each seat and replace them if they're taken after the ride.
I might, repeat might, give out 1-2 water bottles/night. I buy the good stuff, so like, $10/3 weeks (sometimes per month). That's been my experience sofar anyway. I make about 4000 a month when I'm working full shifts ( 35-40 hours) and chalk up around 250 trips in that time. The water is a write off, but I never bother to claim it, so it literally costs me 1/400th of my income. That's less than half a percent. If I bought the cheap stuff, it'd cost me even less. If I bothered to get it from Costco, instead of the Service station when I fuel up, less again. You numpties who bitch about supplying water are dumb as a bag of hammers.
I think being a safe driver is super important. Also, make sure your AC works in warm climates. I had an Uber driver in Las Vegas whose AC didnt work 😥
Great presentation. I do Uber in New York. For me it is hard to maintain a high rating due to passengers who are in a rush getting to their destination. I have to obey all traffic law. When a passenger is late getting to their destination, I get hit with a bad rating. I do get a lot of 5 Star trips but not high enough to maintain a 4.9 rating.
Thanks for the compliment! The one thing I'm trying to work on is getting more people to leave ratings. Less than 50% of my riders leave any feedback at all. Typically upset people always remember to leave their 4 or 1! I want to work on getting a greater percentage of people to leave feedback. I think I can move the needle that way.
That is the same issue I am dealing with here in Dallas TX, the vast majority of customers that are happy with the service provided do not take the time to rate or comment but we can always count on that guy that is never happy to leave his 1 Star rating with a long rant about how he or she did not like some small thing that no one else even cares about. As of today 09-29-18 I have over 3700 trips completed and have received a rating by only about 1800 of those trips so less than half of all my riders have given any kind of indication of their satisfaction regardless of what they have said while in my vehicle. If it matters I do have over 1600 Five Star trips.
Bo, that's exactly right. 50% of your satisfied passengers simply get out of the car and forget about you. I think if I'm able to provide enough friendly perks in my car they'll serve as reminders to the passengers to leave ratings for me! I should keep track of the percentage of people who leave ratings for me over the next 100 and make a video on that.
I'm about to order those mats for my new prius. By the way you're making a great video, don't stop making them... you rock and i can see we both respect the hustle!
I've been pretty fortunate. No major spills yet. Fingers crossed! I steam clean my seats every so often. The newer Prius we just bought has leather seats which is an absolute game changer.
Uber markets that have UberPool and ExpressPool make pennies per mile on those trips, so to suggest any additional expense (water/snack freebies) for drivers is completely absurd.
I buy waters in bulk and including the CRV I last paid 12 cents per bottle at Superior in Huntington Park. I figure if 1 person out of 8 gives me a $1 tip it pays for itself. I eat half the candy I buy and the same principle goes for the candy I buy from Winco as well. Every passenger eats an average of 10 cents in candy, it only takes $1 tip out of every 10 passengers to break even. That's a below average number for me so I figure it's worth it to increase tips and increase my chance of getting good ratings. Not too absurd.
I can see both sides of the argument but in the end there are way more ride rs NOT worthy of the consideration than there are. and IMO, Uber and Lyft should be charging same rates as taxi's at this point in time.
@@mtxman6988 Bodega in my language means something of dubiously low quality akin to garbage. Saying something is a bodega in Portuguese is the same as saying "it is a piece of sh_t."
You are doing very good job my friend I tell you now is it very hard to make riders happy I have a 2017 Honda accord Touring with a black leather seat and heating rear seat my car is always clean but some riders still give your 3 to 4 stars because of the temperature in the car this is very easy to fix tell the Driver to change the temperature to the way you want. I completed 1620 rides with a 4.95 stars.
Man, you are so right! People these days are just passive aggressive. Just simply ask me and I can accommodate nearly any reasonable request. Instead, they don't ask and just leave a 3...
Thanks so much for video!! I do uber in Laredo Texas and San Antonio Texas I always have smooth Jazz playing in my car and so far every one likes it but I always ask them if they want to listen something else !!! My rating is 4.94 1020 trips in a year !!! 😊
Glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for being an asset to the rideshare community! It's people like you that help the passengers have a positive experience and keep coming back no matter what city they're in!
Okay I am a 4.87 driver...pretty good. I DO NOT give out water or candy. People will trash your car with wrappers. What happens if someone takes a sip of the water and puts it back in the pocket. I DO NOT play ragae music. I DO NOT CLEAN the inside of the car every 2 days. I DO NOT have plastic mats. I have the radio on and play pop music and sometimes commercials come on...its funny. I keep the volume on 5. I have nice conversations. I don't ask for tips. I drive a sweet ride. The best advice is be nice to people and you will get good ratings. I don't make eye contact.... I think that is kind of spooky. I don't open doors.
Obviously, we all have our own way of doing things. I drive a Prius so it's definitely not a sweet ride anyone will remember. I try to make up for it by doing the little things. My regular job is customer service based so I totally get how conversation makes everything better. To answer your question about the water, that has happened twice. I only put one water in the back of each seat now so if I hear someone opening a water (90% of people that take them ask, 10% are douches who think everything in life belongs to them and is free) I'll remember to put another one back there. Again twice I've seen a half drunk water back there and I went full rage monster when they were gone. Just means I get to recycle the bottle I guess. I have not had an issue with trash. Occasionally someone will leave a wrapper on the seat, but usually, they just put it in the seatback pocket which is fine.
jmess is right about eye contact and being nice. Some cultures like China, consider eye contact hostile. So, we use empathy and mirroring of the customers body language. We can tell if they are eager to make small talk or not 😂
I do not talk unless they start! Anytime anyone tells me to go this way, I'd certainly follow. And I've reached 5.00 three times but it dropped quite quickly! I got scared when it reached down to 4.80 or 4.75! Most of the riders are friendly.. My car is clean inside, I clean outside as often as needed, simply wax it at least every 2 weeks, my driving is perfect, so I do not understand why the rating can go down quite fast! To go up is rather slow!
The one tricky thing about Uber ratings is that it only takes into account your last 500 ratings. Older ratings after 500 drop off. So if you recently received a 1 or a 2 it will replace a 5 that drops off and you'll have to work back up. I clean the outside as often as necessary, but keeping the inside clean is mandatory. A little small talk can go a long way to making the ride better for people! Keep working hard and the results will follow!
Congrats on the rating! I'm in Dallas and fluctuate between a 4.94 and 4.95 on Uber, and I have a 5.00 on Lyft, after about 600 rides total. I agree with your points on cleanliness, conversation, dress, safe driving, etc. Just FYI I don't offer any water or candy or anything to riders. I actually do not have one single sticker or sign on my vehicle for Uber or Lyft (only sharing as FYI, my wife won't let me put any stickers on the vehicle and riders have never mentioned the lack of signs even once). I drive a 2014 Escalade ESV Platinum black/black but I don't do Uber Black or SUV. I focus on XL, Select for Uber, and Plus, Premier, Lux and Lux SUV for Lyft. My advice is to save your money and get a larger black vehicle ASAP for $20,000 that will allow you to drive in these categories. I run a net profit rate after gas of 84%. I only work 20 hours a week and net over $2,000/month after gas. I think the key is that when someone gets in my car their expectations are immediately exceeded. I am extremely friendly and patient, and will pretty much do whatever the customer wants within reason (stops, go to different location, etc.). I get tips on probably 80% of all rides.
California Rideshare I kid you not, for example last night I had my biggest tip ever! A group of wealthy couples asked me to stop at a burger place on way home. The guy handed me a $100 bill for being patient and making the stop. I always make extra stops, always. 90% of customers will tip big when you give them a great experience. I made $125 total on that one hour ride!
I have just over 11,000 uber rides with a rating of 4.92, i never offer any water/gum/mints or ask them if they prefer a certain route. Just ask them how their day is going and talk to them if them want to talk and say have a good day
That is so true. I have had a few times I haven't recognized someone was cold straight away and I could definitely do better at assessing the needs of the rider! Thanks!
You can not make happy to everyone, even you are always be nice. So many factors change the ratting FX the road conditions , traffic jam, bug with the app Uber, cause the 5 stars system is just a subjective evaluation for” playing “ by the rider. You have nothing to do about that.
I like your tips! However, I am also an Uber driver and my rating has been a 4.98 for a substantial length of time. I have given almost 4,000 rides. just commenting because you said you'd never seen anyone over a 4.94. hey! And that is a great rating!
That's awesome! It's tough to get those 1s to drop off! I think my last 500 is 484-5*, 12-4* , 4-1* I must be close to getting a few of those to drop off though! Awesome you're killing it for the rideshare community!
@@TroveLessTraveled_ I hear you about those pesky One Star ratings. I was a 4.98 all summer in Ocean City, Md where I drive full time in summer. It was late August when drivers became more scarce and I started getting those One Star ratings. I have figured out how to avoid some of the one stars (been driving 3 years almost and never had a One Star!) I dipped down to a 4.93 for MONTHS in the off season. Just had one drop off which put me back at 4.94... hoping it will bump up soon! I do a lot of the things you do and was listening while driving on a long trip. Keep getting after it! You sound like a great driver! Cheers!
#6 - - Find a car wash that only charges a dollar to wash the car yourself and stop by every couple of days. Takes five minutes and costs next to nothing. And vacuum if necessary.
Here here! I started doing that recently. There is a car wash near the house that is $1 for 2 minutes. I'll just put in $1 and give it a quick soap and rinse. It's just like doing dishes. The quicker you get to cleaning the quicker you get the dishes clean. If you only wash your car once every 2-3 weeks it takes longer to clean. $1/week problem solved.

California Rideshare fantastic! I started using similar island reggae music after I saw this video and it’s been an incredible difference in the vibe and overall feel. Thank you so much! I really appreciate your videos
Sir your video advises are the real deal. in my case I figured everything you said on my own, and do it, but still got slammed with few bad ratings. All it was, I used Aqua Di cologne, just wanted a special feel in the car for the riders, but guess what, that cologne is so good, and so much underlines "expensive" that drives riders jealous, and they slam with bad rating. I stopped using it, and rating went up!
Great video. I am wondering what do you think about, when a rider slams your car door after they get out? Do you tell them to not do that, or just give them 1 star, as well as if they love kicking the back seat?
Hahahahaha if I have someone who loves kicking my backseat I'm definitely giving them a 1!! I don't usually have an issue with the door sometimes I'll just say "be careful with the door" if they slammed it getting in.
Thr amenities are great. I was an uber passenger for 1 year. I have a 4.98 rating and I took about 600 rides and EVERY Uber/Lyft driver got a 5 Star rating from me just for getting me to my destination SAFE and timely. I even argued with a woman who was speeding thru the park (25 mile zone and she was doing 40) at 5:30 a.m. no less (I'm a nurse omw to work). I just warned her that the cops WILL lay in the cut and you Will get ticketed and if you were exercising in the park or your kids are playing etc...you'd want safe drivers. She apologizedgized. This combative itch got me to my destination SAFE. I gave her 5 stars. I'm not that darn petty but unfortunately some people are.
Hey man don't be scared to try a suite a tie! You like to look nice go all out! It's funny I just got up to about 1500 and I do the same thing with my music!
Waters are cool but tbh the best thing is to use Capri Suns or kool-aid jammers people get so excited over those. I usually play current hip-hop (Drake station has widest appeal). For the longest I was a perfect 5 up until 500 then I had one asshole lady give me a low-rating because "my cologne was too strong" (it was air freshener 😐). I used to do candy but ppl kept throwing wrappers all over so I stopped. Tbh I get a lot more comments on my ratingsand usually they are paragraphs praising my conversation. I believe conversation is key and it helps that I conversate for a living in my day job.
Outstanding advice! I enjoyed your hints and tips. I'm starting my Uber/Lyft adventure tomorrow for the first time. I'm excited to make extra income to help a family member with a special needs child.
I hope you can glean even just a little bit from me and add it to your own unique flare. Every driver is different, but I find the 2 most important things are keeping your car clean and having quality conversations with your passengers unless you get some verbal cues from them they'd rather be left alone.
Idk what happened to me but my rating fluctuates greatly. And I think it depends on the type of passengers I get tbh. I was at 4.78 and I took pride to fix my driving style. And the ratings represented that because I eventually jumped to 4.91. That was my last rating 4 weeks ago. From that time to now I've gone down to a 4.85 (I'm at 2,100 rides). Which I just don't understand because I haven't done anything different since I've mentally checked-in to become a better driver. I'm less aggressive, I drive as smooth as I can, I keep the outside and interior clean at all times. Granted I drive a stick shift car, but that shouldn't have a major impact since I went from 4.78 up to a 4.91 back down to a 4.85. It's like the damn stock market. And I dead ass, would feel bad to see my rating go down lol and stress out about it. I guess just don't focus on the rating and drive safely and you'll be fine. At the end of the day, good rating or bad rating you're still getting paid! 💰 💰 💰
Remember that only your last 500 ratings count towards your score. They fall off after that! So it's possible you had a lot of 5s fall off and then finally some old 1s fell off and you're leveling out. Keep striving for 5s and the tips will follow!
It's crazy to see your rating drop when someone gives you a 1 star. When I started, I was at 5 stars for a couple of months. But then one night I had a problem finding a couple (2 men) who address led me to a cul-de-sac and I couldn't find them. Well I called them and found out they were about 100 yards away from me on the other side of the brick wall at a taco bell parking lot. So I eventually found them and apologized for the delay. But to make matter worse, they were arguing with each other for the whole 15 minute trip. Then when I was arriving to their house, one of them ask me where am I a going since I just passed their house. I showed them the Uber navigation, showing that I was going in the right direction. Anyways I turned around and got to their house and said bye and good night but they just got out without a word. Immediately I said well there goes my perfect rating and sure enough I received a 1 star. My rating dropped to a 4.8 and in the next couple of 100 trips I received a couple of 1 stars more. Not sure from who but there is nothing I can do about it. Now I'm at a 4.81. Oh well, I'm polite and keep my car clean so I'm trying my best to control what I can do. Since I only drive sometimes in the weekends from 10 PM to 2AM. I figured a lot of people forget to rate you anyways since they are tired and just want to get home.
@@ABBAManon Unfortunately every driver gets 1s for no reason. I'm confident there is rarely a time a driver actually deserves a 1. Do I deserve a 3 or a 4 every once in a while if I miss a turn or something? Possibly. But, I've never deserved any 1 that I've received. I always try to make conversation with someone because it's much harder to leave someone a negative rating and much more likely they'd leave me a positive rating and a tip if I simply try to make a friend. I think the key is getting more satisfied customers to leave a rating. Kind of like those bumper stickers on trucks, "How's my driving?" - with a phone number. Only upset people are calling that number. My effort is to change that by over delivering on service.
Michael Ishay Raveh absolutely
Some say a dash cam is also helpful to prevent issues. As passengers will not do crazy stuff on camera...

Uber drivers aren't robots, chill...
Mich Dax This list was really helpful! Thanks Mich!
4.97 with over 2000 rides. I just keep my car clean and smelling good. That's it.
That's most of the battle! All the rest I do is just a little bonus to make up for my bad jokes while I'm driving!
4.96 with 5k rides. I do the same. Clean car and nice smile. People love the simplicity.
Agree with you, I have 1900 rides and 4.98. Dress nice and keep car nice and clean!
Alex Maldonado right bribery unnecessary
damn yall put some miles on your cars!!
"I swear I don't smoke weed when I drive." Puts on Reggae playlist.
Haha! People ask me about that sometimes, but honestly, I just love the way the music makes me feel. If I'm by myself I'd probably choose 80s rock sometimes, but it's not always a fan favorite.
LOLOL 😂 As his wife, I think this is a hilarious comment! Trust me though, he is as straight laced as they come.
2 funny!
Same here
The more I watch these videos about uber and lyft, the more I want to do it full time. Great video and thanks for the info!
It certainly can be fun to hustle and make a decent living. Plus, immediate pay uts??? Game over right!?!
I'm a 5.0 rating with over 1500 rides. No water. No snacks. Just awesome personality.
Thanks for being an asset to the rideshare community!
Great advice, pal. You are very articulate in explaining your recommendations and you obviously understand "professionalism" and "customer satisfaction". If Uber has any kind of "training" program, they should promote you to be a trainer of the newbies. Good job!
Thank you so much for the kind words and support! Man I actually would love to work as an Uber trainer. Would be a pretty sweet gig!
Great Video! Well presented! I’d feel comfortable riding with someone who was as conscientious as you! Great job, Erik!
Thanks for the support Jodie! Seems silly, but I constantly think to myself "would my parents be proud of the way I conduct myself or proud of my driving style?"
I agree 💯
I am 4.94 Uber driver in San Diego
And do exactly the same thing and I was shocked when u suggested reggae. As playlist because the same idea you mentioned that made me chose reggae over any other type of music.
KUDOS 👍🏾
Great minds think alike Nelson! Thanks!
After 6500 rides don't really care.4.8 and dont care.most of these riders just want a cheap ride
With the new Uber pro program it actually matters what your rating is. It can jeopardize your ability to access several features on the Uber platform
You’re telling me dude!
Yeah, emesis bags should be something I add to an additional video! Have you had passengers throw up in your car at night??
I believe this, what ended up happening?
Very informative. Thank you. I’m only 23 rides in and I really like your style. I totally agree.
Thanks for the support!
You're right, I am working on a solution for the trash!
Awesome video! 😊 you should add your playlist to the description.
Thanks for watching and that’s a great idea!
@@TroveLessTraveled_ Hey can I add my playlist that help me get tips. It went from 10% - 16%

Some passengers are way too picky and they give a 1 🌟 rating.for the dumbest stuff they dont realize how much it hurts a drivers rating..like a dirty windshield.
Great video i just drive safe and clean car and drop off were they have to be
Thanks for sharing these great ideas on how to get good ratings on uber
You are a great salesman and i will take your points to heart.
Thanks I appreciate the support!
Great profile, I’m 4.98 with 500 rides so far, just kind and friendly to riders and I always ask them what music they want on, of course keep the car clean and yeah that works pretty well.
Thanks for watching! Thanks for being an asset to the rideshare community!
In one month, I did over 346 rides and my rating is 4.92. Thank you for the info!!
Keep up the hard work! You're a benefit to the rideshare community!
I don't drive Uber. I don't use the app. Thoroughly enjoyed your vid. Much respect!
Thanks mate! Thanks for the support!
Great video. Houston driver here 250 rides in got my first 1* rating. Bringing my 4.96 down to 4.94
The Uber trolls will try to bring you down with 1s.
Looks like you're already out there killing it! Glad to see it. Hopefully, I was able to help in some small way!
Closing in on 5400...your rating...pleased to meet you...lol...it is always great to meet a fellow Customer Service Professional...some of these jokers think this is just a job...
This guy it’s cool asf no wonder he gets a lot tips plus he thinks about his costumers by getting stuff awesome video
Thanks for the support mate!
It's very easy to see that you take this job very seriously. That's admirable in my book. You're doing a great job! Keep up the good work!
Out of 93 rates I have 90 5 stars I’m going to take your tips and apply it see what happens! Thanks for the tips.
Awesome video man. Keep it up and screw the haters
Good tips.
4.98 with over 6,700 rides here.
Don’t know were you got the stats you were in to top 1%.
I've responded to few comments on where that stat comes from.
Great video I just started Uber a week ago and this came in really handy
Thanks, I appreciate the support! I'll be putting together another one soon!
Thanks so much, I'm Retired & Considering doing this also. The points you made was just what I was thinking about also. Excellent information.
In my experience, I noticed that the people who tip are the customers who are mostly middle class or lower.
Dude!!! Awesome video man. Thank you very much for all the tips... Definitely will use all...
Thanks for the support Jeremy. Feel free to share any suggestions on things you've done that helped you!

It CAN be done
I detail my car, inside and out, EVERY DAY. I get many compliments on my vehicle cleanliness and car smell. I average 18 - 20% tips
Your ceiling is only what you are willing to settle for! Awesome job!
Awesome tips and Video.... Keep it up fellow Uber driver :)
Thanks so much! Keep up the good work yourself!
OZIUM ALL DAMN DAY!! I keep 2 cans for the stankies
The bottle breakdown story has been debunked.
I think being a safe driver is super important. Also, make sure your AC works in warm climates. I had an Uber
driver in Las Vegas whose AC didnt work 😥
Wow! Desert and no AC is a death sentence!
Well Done sir! Great tips! // 4.92 Rating 3300 rides
Keep up the good work and the results will follow! Thanks for making the Uber platform a better place for everyone of us!
Ozium is the best for those smells. Pot especially. It seems to kill odors rather than mask them.
Yeah, it's a life saver - well at least a hero for those of us who prefer fresh air!
I'm about to order those mats for my new prius. By the way you're making a great video, don't stop making them... you rock and i can see we both respect the hustle!
I just bought a second pair off Craigslist for my wife's Prius this week which included the trunk mat for $80
Got a 5 star 5.0 rating around 200 rides/ clean car/ reading your client is key!
Car cleanliness is the most important thing you’re absolutely right
How do you keep your light colored Seats so clean ?
I'm not a Bodega
I can see both sides of the argument but in the end there are way more ride
rs NOT worthy of the consideration than there are. and IMO, Uber and Lyft should be charging same rates as taxi's at this point in time.
I just offer the customer a free stop along the way if they need something. Customer's #1 lol. That's all that matters.
We can tell if they are eager to make small talk or not 😂
@Aaron V LOL. This is funny. As long as the driver is nice, that's priority.
Also candy tapper in your car..trash
Wrappers in car
.
I used charcoal neutralizer that I keep in the car that lasts up to 2 years. A pack of six for $20.
I've read about recharging the charcoal in the sun. How does it work?
15,809 rides / 4.94 / 2.5 Years. 9,500 Five Star Rides. 2,000 compliments. Have 7,000 rides with LYFT. You all have a great day!
Tip on 80% of rides! Dude you need to make some videos on your tips to getting tips! Amazing. Keep up the good work!
You got my support brother, I just subscribed. I drive Uber in Louisiana.
Thanks for subscribing! I have some more videos I need to edit and get up for everyone!
good to have people who support others.
You did well on this video. First vid, 300+ views, a few likes. Keep it up. What happened to the videos you hinted at.
I have a few more filmed I just need to finish editing. Thanks for motivating me to get them up!
Hope you've tuned back in. I've put up a handful of other videos now!
I have just over 11,000 uber rides with a rating of 4.92, i never offer any water/gum/mints or ask them if they prefer a certain route. Just ask them how their day is going and talk to them if them want to talk and say have a good day
A little conversation can go a long way! Good job out there providing excellent service!
4.94 also~ Tip #11 ask the passenger if the temperature is good~ i always ask if they need more A/C on a hot day or more heat in the winter months~
That is so true. I have had a few times I haven't recognized someone was cold straight away and I could definitely do better at assessing the needs of the rider! Thanks!
Great video. I'm from LA as well and I'll be starting Uber and Lyft real soon. Subscribed! ✔️👊
Joe any updates on your driving experiences here?
Customer service is always number one on the list. How you treat the rider is always number one on the list.
I think my last 500 is 484-5*, 12-4*
, 4-1* I must be close to getting a few of those to drop off though!
Cheers!
Thanks for the support! Sounds like you've perfected your craft out there in Maryland!
Is it possible that you could provide a list of those reggae songs that you use? Or perhaps a Spotify playlist?

California Rideshare fantastic! I started using similar island reggae music after I saw this video and it’s been an incredible difference in the vibe and overall feel. Thank you so much! I really appreciate your videos
Oh gosh, I tell him all the time I can't stand listening to his reggae.
Sir your video advises are the real deal.
in my case I figured everything you said on my own, and do it, but still got slammed with few bad ratings.
All it was, I used Aqua Di cologne, just wanted a special feel in the car for the riders, but guess what, that cologne is so good, and so much underlines "expensive"
that drives riders jealous, and they slam with bad rating. I stopped using it, and rating went up!
Under promise, over deliver! Good work mate!
I don't usually have an issue with the door sometimes I'll just say "be careful with the door" if they slammed it getting in.
renegadebiker24 of. Corse I will give theme one star
i have smooth jazz in my uber car but grate tips love them will do them
I LOVE smooth jazz as well. Excellent choice! Thanks for the support and for making the Uber community great!
You can use a lint roller for hair. And for people w/pets..place a lightweight fabric shower curtain on the seats
Those are actually some awesome ideas! Thanks for sharing!
Bro 4.94 is literally normal .... if u do rides at night you’ll be fired over someone saying your tired or u smell like weed or u drunk good
Luck
Or a dumb unprofessional attitude.
I been doing Lyft and Uber for 2 year and I have 5 stars on both app i just talk and help the passengers that’s it
You’re a stud! Keep it up!
Hey man don't be scared to try a suite a tie! You like to look nice go all out! It's funny I just got up to about 1500 and I do the same thing with my music!
I might have to try that!
As his wife, I can verify that he looks amazing in a suit and tie! :D

You seem awesome. You deserve 5.0
Thanks for the support!
Laurel LaFlamme how has the Uber driver experience been thus far for you? I’m considering driving for Uber to try it out on a part time basis.
I picked up some people from a horse show and had a sand box in my all weather mats; yes, only SAND
Won’t be the last time!
My rating is at 4.98 with 1,500+ rides with about one year of driving in the Los Angeles county.
Amazing! You help make Uber a great environment for riders and drivers. Thank you for your hard work!
