That’s coming out really great! As someone from New England, seeing those exposed a-pillars makes me cringe thinking about surface rust 😂. Typically I clean it up, admire the bare metal, then immediately cover it with paint
@@Smeedia I’m looking forward to doing a similar project with my wife’s 98 Impreza coupe. We flew to AZ to get it and had it stored there, not a speck of rust on it. We were going to bring the car back to New Hampshire, but couldn’t stomach what would become of it, so we’re bringing our entire life out to Arizona instead! Fuck rust
For me this is the best project so far,I would like to see you take more cars down to bare metal on the underside and doing your magic on them.only joking that's a lot of work.
As I own a 98 Type-R in 74F color this blue paint hitting the chassis really made this video even more special for me. Hope this car comes out really good and really hoping for some golden wheels too 🤩
Man. You've come a loooong way from where you were when i started watching you a few years ago. Really coming along. You should look into getting a cheap fold up rotisserie if you're going to be doing more of these. Between this and the RX7 it looks like you will... it frees you up in a lot of ways. It allows you to come in through the door with the car on its side so you can keep that HVLP upright.
My neighbors have one in their shop I can use. I just haven’t yet. But next time I think I’ll be pulling it out 😅 And thank you! Definitely a couple steps forward from where we were 😅
Just bought a 98 RS (WRB) and plan to start getting it down to barebones for paint before I built a 22B clone. I hadn't seen you guys doing this series but just got the notification for this video. Ironic...or should I say the Almighty Google has brought me here to you 😂 anyway, this idea has always been a cool thought to me when I was younger as I knew I'd never be able to afford the car I was infatuated with like so many others, the 1998 Subaru Impreza STI 22B. It's awesome to see someone else go through what I've been excited but also extremely nervous about! Keep up the awesome work!! 🤘💪
Most ppl dont realize how much control and pations it takes to use a paint sprayer👍🏽. It's easy goof up. Once someone gets the hang of it, it's satisfying. Really looking forward to seeing this beauty unfold.
Absolutely insane how much progress you’ve made on learning to paint. I might be sending my gd to the body shop to have the rear quarter fixed. It has a big dent/rust . And someone just side swiped it again. Thankfully insurance paid me for it.
Without a doubt. Seeing the car up close before the tear down began, the before & after is nuts. It really was the type of clapped out that would be launched off a cliff in Alaska.
It’ll come out even better if you sand the paint after your three coats (on body panels) sand it down with 1000 or 1200 grit. Then spray clear coat and when it’s all done, sand and buff clear coat . Gives you a really deep blue result. Deeeeep deep
The mistakes are honestly the best teachable moments, plus the positive criticism is actual so helpful to avoid pitfalls and fix errors 🙌 so happy with how this paint has come out 🔥
Man that WRB looks incredible. Great job, your 22b is going to look minty fresh when it's done. It's been amazing watching you take this 2.5RS from rusty shitbox to 22b restomod step by step. It's looking absolutely gorgeous!!!
