After 42 years in commercial and residential construction starting in the early 70’s with a 5 year carpentry apprenticeship I still say if you want to progress you have to be at 1/2 monkey. You prove it. From crawling inside a sink cabinet to walking rafters on a multi story project. It’s kept me extremely flexible. Young guys used to ask me “why don’t you ever see a fat carpenter”?? ..........DUH !!👍👍👍👍👍👍

You remind me of my mother in her younger days, she was always busy building or doing something. She finished the inside of both our childhood homes as well as built out buildings, cut firewood and whatever else needed doing. She was one of seven children and grow up working the family farm and helping her father and brothers with their projects. I learned a lot from her lol

Well, I think I passed then! It’s definitely not square, but yes, I agree. Everyone is SO focused on everything being square and perfect, and while that might makes certain things easier in builds, it doesn’t make them unusable and there shouldn’t be regret about it. I definitely didn’t work for exactness in this build, but I still wish that front post was a bit more plumb. And I wish I pushed the rafter poles to the ends of the beams. But I love the learning that comes with these situations. 😊

Respect ! And as for your carpentry or building skills: there are many ways to build this shed. More efficient ones, faster ones, more elaborate ones but also crappier ones. What really counts is that this is your way to build your shed. And without exaggerating too much let's call it a feather in your cap. As for the square roof: You surely could mask it with some fake rafters, but what for? it is what it is. That's the personal note. And as long as it's water tight... I have to say, you swing a hammer like you are supposed to. So many swing via their wrist (wrong). You swing via the elbow for a more powerful nail drive. Amazing! Your little shed is coming along very nicely...
Vertical boarding … when you rent a place so small, you must stand to sleep. I really enjoy that you like to amuse yourself because that amuses us! The out building/storage shed/bunkhouse I’d looking good.

Thank you. I suppose you’re true, but when learning, it’s nice to understand where the mistakes were made and how to avoid them in the future. But at least I’m learning how to work around them!
@@michygoss7148 well I've been doing this for 40+ years and the term we use in the trades is split the difference sometimes its absolutely impossible to get it 100% square you just have to eyeball it and make it appear square

I prefer this outdoor kind of construction compared to internal modern home stuff that has no character. Using wood in the round looks more honest and rewarding especially with a backyard like that!
Your doing a beautiful job on the shed build on the cliff. The roof, the wrap , & windows framed out are all excellent! Your choice of siding really makes it pop! Just remove window, cut side to go up even with window 2 x 4, then slip boards for spacing the window back allowing it to be even with the siding, then put the front framed window material back on like you had it.it will be very rewarding setting in the doorway enjoying the view that you, & Steve have to make memories while working on the cabin on the cliff! Don’t worry about the rafters. Just cut your roof decking so that in itself is square for the metal roofing.
