This is exactly what Forza 6 and Forza 7 are already doing with the vibration motors under the triggers. Even when ABS is turned off in Forza, the haptics under the brake trigger allow you feel when you are nearing/at the threshold of grip, allowing you modulate how much breaking pressure you can apply before locking up the tires solely based on feel (as opposed to sound or visual cues on screen). There are also haptics for the trigger that controls the car's throttle that allows you to feel when the tires of the driven wheels are about to/have lost traction. The haptic motors under the triggers of the Xbox One controllers was the main reason why I chose Xbox that gen over a PS4. Now I'm disappointed the next gen Forza games won't be able to take advantage of the further improved haptics of the PS5 controller :c

@@manojlds that's what everyone's hoping who is biased. But so many third party developers already announced support in their games and the two features are a such integral part of controls, that I truly believe developers will all use it. Especially as Sony is giving developers presets for the two features, so every developer atm can integrate the feel of running on metal or wood or glas without any effort already, they just use the presets and tweak them a little bit to the own animations in game. I cannot understand why someone wants to see that fail, as it's a long needed step up in gaming and should be the new standard from now on. If Microsoft isn't dumb, they will start integrating these features with their next controller iteration.
Imagine a shooter that can simulate real trigger feel. Resistance until the click, and then it releases and feels easy to pull near the end (people that shot before, hope you can relate)
A controller simulating appropriate trigger pull weight per weapon... People's first shots are going to be off but I can totally get behind that level of immersion 👌🏽
I had that same thought as MKBHD said it! Where certain guns can have a loose or tight trigger depending on the weapon. Not all pistols are created equal. With current-gen, the guns feel sort-of the same. Willing to bet Infinity Ward & Treyarch will take advantage of this.
Not to mention Horizon: Forbidden West! Perhaps Sony can include certain functionality for DualSense into their 1st party PS4 games via updates. Been an Xbox gamer for awhile (started off on N64 and had the Dreamcast & PS2), but Sony is bringing in some amazing features into next-gen! TLoU is too hard to pass up for a Series X on the first go-round.

Am I the only one who turns off vibrations on my phone? Just the phone buzzing on the table annoys me 😅 But I do want vibes on my gaming controller... PS5 controller looks perfect
From a developers perspective it makes no sense... Sure it would make the game better but most developers have to push the game in 3 or 4 platforms... I don't think they will because Xbox one controllers had additional motors in the triggers... But only games like forza actually used them...
I ended up getting a PS5 controller to use on the computer and I love it. I'm not sure if the resistance triggers are supported in Steam, but it sounds awesome.
Lol, "It's a lot of hard work playing games between the two of them" I wish I had your problems man 😂😂 Seriously though, thanks for the review. Always appreciated.
Remember whe we used to play any race games and thought (even knowing it was useless) "If I press harder the button, I will go faster?" Well now it could be a reality
Actually on the PS2 the “shape buttons” had a little bit of adjustment, and were pretty stiff, so the harder you pushed the faster you go for a little bit.
That's nothing new, it had been done. but now the triggers can feel like actual gas/brake pedals and you can get a better feel for grip on the tracks to make driving easier/more realistic.
@@blaynestaleypro better feel for grip to make it easier? What? How would that contribute to making it easier? Who ever told you that driving games were hard to control?
@@chas1878 It would be easier if, through the controller, you can sense better when you are losing grip. Currently, with a controller, you can only go by speedometer and visuals.

All the accessories are out in the us currently, I picked up all my accessories on Friday but I have to wait to get the charging station on the 6th. I think you can only get them if you pre order them currently
I would expect a shout out after making a video basically explaining the same thing as Dave2D a couple of days later. Basically, the same information narrated in MKBHD style but feels like taken from Dave2D video. I would expect different information, like something that he has noticed by himself and give a shoutout to Dave for the other information (like other TH-camrs do, say Steve Moulding and Tom Scott for example).
Nintendo HD rumble in Pro controller was already huge step up from ps4 controller, the same as good smartohones vibration is getting better every year. You really can feel very positive difference.
I wonder about the life of those feedback triggers I hope they don't weaken over time since moving parts tend to break and the more complex parts have a higher chance of breaking and I'm ok if the triggers weaken over time but if it starts to lock up when it gets old that might be a really annoying issue. but only time will tell and I'm definitely buying a PS5.
That's a great point. It's also one of my concerns, specially for the day one consoles, due to sony's history of problems over the time with early versions of playstations.
Being a motor, it shouldn't weaken over time, but could fail if pressed against too hard for long, contiguous periods of time while resistance is engaged. There is a potential to overheat and melt the insulation of the coil windings. Same failure mode as a power drill where it stalls and the magic smoke is released.
@@OnlyTim Definitely possible, many approaches possible to prevent that failure. Each has a cost though, and they aren't exactly flying to the moon in one of these so we know at least _some_ expenses have been spared. Time will tell about how robust this feature is.
Ah yes the early ps4 controllers’ triggers would lock up if you pressed them hard repeatedly. I went through like 7 or 8 of them at launch. Hopefully this doesn’t happen with ps5!!
Imagine swinging a sword and it bounces off a shield and the trigger recoils back at you. Wonder if you can control how hard you swing your weapon depending on how hard the trigger is pressed.
First thing that comes to mind for me is how the resistant triggers could be used when pulling back and holding a bow. I imagine Horizon Forbidden West will use this to a great extent
who knows. Sony are famous for being the first to abandon their own tech. I love their games but I can only think of a handful of times their exclusives ever used the controller features they already have.

@@RamblyBear lol name a single game on xbox that still uses their own tech. I'll wait. Xbox & Sony has done this stupid shit numerous times. Difference is, this is not a gimmick.
@ why you getting bent out of shape over this? Every game on Xbox as far as I am aware uses the controller, it doesn't have gimmicks. What kind of silly question is this? But on PS like Infamous used motion controls (that spray paint thing was pretty great), Ghosts uses swiping on the touchpad, and Days Gone uses motion controls. I can't remember any other memorable uses of the unique tech of the controller. Like how many Sony made games ignore them, nevermind 3rd party? I played almost every 1st party game and that is all I remember. If devs actually get on board and use these features it will be great, but the track record isn't that good so far.

And if you shot from serious gun - controller breaks your shoulder.
@@RomanD amazing. Just the right amount of realism.

Hi karl
I really hope that the third party developers take advantage of the dualsense to make our gaming experiences more interactive
Judging by how much third party developers used the switch controllers I have high hope!
The list of games that support the DualSense features is growing every week, 40 games already confirmed!
Most developers took advantage of the hd vibration on the switch so I think they will do this with dualsense too.
From a developers perspective it makes no sense... Sure it would make the game better but most developers have to push the game in 3 or 4 platforms... I don't think they will because Xbox one controllers had additional motors in the triggers... But only games like forza actually used them...

@@random_n I guess (hope) there are are safety features that prevent this to happen like in pop up selfie cameras 🤔
I love your reviews, you make people feel like you just having a conversation with a good friend. 👍👍👍

You don't have to take that so personally.
