I was mad when the album came out, as I thought it too much a concession to trends in 79/80. But this song is so powerful it justifies anything, including living a whole life for a dream near extinct from a culture murdering romance & euphoria for money & power, every chance it can. " ...that's part of the joke." Oh Keith.
This is such a great overlooked Keith Richards' vocal song! Charlie Watts drumming is classy, heartfelt, and absolutely perfect. I love these guys. R.I.P. Charlie
I think this is the best song Richards ever wrote , I still (and always will) believe these boys have a flame calling their name at lifes end . We all believe and feel how we feel . No one could ever change that . But to me this is one of Keiths best works . It shows to me he has a heart , And to me thats a good place to be . With a heart ,(not of stone, but of flesh and blood).
Oh absolutely he is a master at it isn't he?so many great tunes off of stones records and certainly his solo records which are top top notch make no mistake slipping away etc etc how can I stop that's an incredible tune of course with the Great Wayne shorter at the end so much fun. Coming down again off of goat's head soup beautiful song and even the rockers certainly before they make me run basically any song that Keith sings lead on. And his new record is great cross-eyed heart is a effing pleasure!
i still miss the chick even after all the times of painting black doom and gloom and far away eyes i was a fool to cry after Star Star the heartbreaker and living in a ghost town. oh well, coming down again...
yes typical Keith he can really get down on the ballards and yes he will bring tears to your eyes he definitely is not losing his touch my favorite song by him for sure
I love it when keith sings stones songs. It gives the listener and the fan a break from listening to Mick singing lead all the time. Nice slow song. You can waltz to this song. Great ballad
Bobby Keys was so great These 3 were some trio Bobby Ronnie and Keith Went to a birthday party of Ronnies with them all there Great times RIP 🎺 Bobby Keys
"Life" the Keith Richards Autobiography mentions this song, all about leaving long time girlfriend, Anita, as he is falling in love with supermodel Patti Hansen. This book is going to keep me up all night. Keith talks so sweetly about his crushes on his various girlfriends! Deep feelings!
But there is a tale that this song is actually about Mick Jagger. When you listen to the lyrics, it does hit hard. The relationship between Mick & Keith has often been compared to a marriage. You can hear in the lyrics Keiths disdain for Mick, but in the end, Keith finishes with "...so how come I'm still in love with you?"
NO cut it out Keith said what it was about and it coinsends when the album came out Its not about Jagger Or u know more than Keith than excuse me @@robjacik3057
...Jesus don't lie, he will return and rescue us from ourselves and the lying bully we are so sick and tired of, great song, great talent, praising God for these boys
I prefer to believe he wrote this about a pathological liar- it could probably fit a lot of people in the music business- we ALL know one or two- thanks for posting-
I like voices with an edge, i.e., Joe Cocker, Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, Rod Stewart and Keith Richards. But I remember laughing at a review of the ‘Emotional Rescue’ album in Stereo Review magazine back in the ‘70s. I think it was the great record reviewer Steve Simels who wrote about Keith's performance on 'All About You'. He wrote something like, “Compared to Richards’ scratchy pipes even Bob Dylan is a smooth crooner. He should never be allowed to sing again.”
whoa! mick introduces the band, then Keith and then the riffmaster sings this song which is notoriously written against his old bandmate... that's really weird! haha.. only the stones can do such a thing
About Anita or Mick? I think great songwriters use all their experiences and then their talent is to make it sound familiar to everyone . Keith is brilliant at that...
Esta canción viene a ser como un comentario final de Keef sobre el romance de Anita Pallenberg que comenzó en 1967 y terminó en 1979 cuando Richards conoció a su futura esposa la modelo Patti Hansen
Beautiful love song of Keith's! Think it's also about his break up with Anita and the new found love of his life, Patti. But am a little confused bec at the end he still said " I still love you" to his ex whom I think was not a good partner. Lucky for Keith, he met and married Patti who has a very pleasant personality
@littletanda666 I was thinking Last Time was on my DVD. It was when they all walked out to that center stage. I don't think I remember them doing Anybody Seen My Baby. I must have had a good time ;)_
Dyou know keith wrote this lyrics about Mick Jagger? In the period he called the world war between the glimmer twins... It's all on keef's biography, great book.
Sorry, but I remember an interview with Keith maybe 1981-82 in some paper and they asked him about this song and he said "aah Anita". But it is a great song and I think you have it right. The Glimmer Twins was not so friendly back then..
You're right, those were bad times for the stones.... Keith was irritated because Mick started doing things appart and left the band in a second place. Thank God Mick didn't had much sucsess as solist and had to came back!!! otherwise, Stones would be history...
Background singers suck badly. Not only was Keith the greatest Keith Richards type guitar player and writer in the history of rock, he was also the greatest background singer in rock history. His vocal arrangement on the album is nothing short of spellbinding.
I don't think so... It's a way to disguise the anger that Keith felt in those moments, if you write a song, you just dont put things directly on it, you try to make it sound ironical or something like that to make it more interesting... every song has its story behind, but in this case is not a gay story!
#1 Keith Richards song ever! Ever! Hard Stop! Period! Done! This is it!
I was mad when the album came out, as I thought it too much a concession to trends in 79/80. But this song is so powerful it justifies anything, including living a whole life for a dream near extinct from a culture murdering romance & euphoria for money & power, every chance it can. Thanks to all who put these with Keith doing vocals and youtube
Best track off emotional rescue. Hands down.. what a killer closing track.
I think it's the best, it's a broken heart reggae of keef♥️
My opinion Exactly!
Loved it since 1980!👍👍
I find it to be just as great as another closing track: "Give Me the Love" by Elton John, from his album 21 at 33, also released in 1980.
Always be rewinding it on my record player
This is such a great overlooked Keith Richards' vocal song! Charlie Watts drumming is classy, heartfelt, and absolutely perfect. I love these guys. R.I.P. Charlie
Far from overlooked
Life can be really hard sometimes.. but, man, watch this. It's good to be alive
truer words.. tlc
Excellent! I always loved the Keith songs! So much feeling in this one.❤
I love this song. This is a damn good version.
I SAW THIS LIVE IN BOSTON YEARS BACK....AWESOME EMOTIONAL RESCUE TRACK!!!!!
Yep, it was the last track on that album released in the summer of 1980.
❤Love you keith

I love it when Keith gets his moment, it's joyful!
KEITH CAN SING THE HELL OUT OF A BALLAD.
Oh absolutely he is a master at it isn't he?so many great tunes off of stones records and certainly his solo records which are top top notch make no mistake slipping away etc etc how can I stop that's an incredible tune of course with the Great Wayne shorter at the end so much fun. KEEFA,S THE MAN. PEACE TO YOU ALL MY FRIEND'S. 🙏✌️😎🏴
Love Emotional Album to this day, in the summer of 1980, i was 16, seems like yesterday??.
i still miss the chick even after all the times of painting black doom and gloom and far away eyes i was a fool to cry after Star Star the heartbreaker and living in a ghost town. oh well, coming down again...
Such a great ballad, such a great performer as well. Love you keef, from Argentina.
Listening to this song over and over again, love this tune💋
I ĺove you Keith forever Angie xo
Are you THAT Angie?
yes typical Keith he can really get down on the ballards and yes he will bring tears to your eyes he definitely is not losing his touch my favorite song by him for sure
So good. I saw Keith sing this live at the Edmonton Commonwealth outdoor stadium, Oct 2, 1997. I remember I could fuckin move, I was so mesmerized.
It was always all about you, Keith. Thank you for your life
The best ballad singer of all time..
Wonderful! Stunning! Beautiful!
I love it when keith sings stones songs. It gives the listener and the fan a break from listening to Mick singing lead all the time. Nice slow song. You can waltz to this song. Great ballad
This man certainly knows how to deliver a song!
Bobby Keys was so great

Yeah, sure. Nobody knows about him. Totally obscure.

Very good live version 🕺🏿👍😊
We were there at this show too. Memorable time for us.
...Jesus don't lie, he will return and rescue us from ourselves and the lying bully we are so sick and tired of, great song, great talent, praising God for these boys
This is very nice.
is too bad they cut this from the official dvd of the tour, this has to be there, many thanks for sharing my friend! cheers from Argentina :)
god DAMN i am feeling this song so hard right now
I'm with you Keith in my heart xo
I prefer to believe he wrote this about a pathological liar- it could probably fit a lot of people in the music business- we ALL know one or two- thanks for posting-
Thank you!
Too bad Charlie died before he could be able to rejoin Mick and Keef... rest in rock heaven, Charlie!
keef best and awesome ballad..
fits perfectly!! ;)
this song has been promoted to my favorite Stones track

Hermosa su voz ❤️😇🙏🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽
great song!
Keith's book says this was not about Anita and in fact it was about Mick.

It's written about Anita Pallenberg, not Mick
@@theAAA67 are you related to Patti Hansen (Keiths Wife) by any chance?
Yeah, I don't know, I just seriously doubt it's written about Mick lol. Anita, yes.
The MAN.
I love ❤ this song SACHA,JUST LIKE YOU💘💖💕🔥🔥💯❌⭕❌♥️❤🇬🇧🎸
About Anita or Mick? I think great songwriters use all their experiences and then their talent is to make it sound familiar to everyone . Keith is brilliant at that...
I'd say that he wrote it thinking about Anita

I think this song is about Anita Pallenberg.
A true romantic 💘

@FrankSynyster Well, if you think that true friendship is gay, then this have a gay vibe, indeed.
