Regarding version differences, on the back of the game cartridge, there's a long serial and version 1.0 ends in 2 numbers, whereas version 1.1 ends in two numbers and a letter. That's how you know which version of Diddy Kong Racing you have.

diddy kong racing was such a good game, i don't know why i haven't seen any game like it since. a racing game with a hub world, lots of characters, and boss battles. awesome
That’s Rare for you. This was the golden days of the company. This game, Banjo-Kazooie & Conker put them on the map. I would love to see Nintendo & Rare come together just once and either do a remake or better yet, a sequel to this game. The best Racing game since CTR.
@@spenserbeckerszs Rareware of old. They gave everyone nostalgia packages for everyone😻😻😻. Speaking of CTR, that game was still heavily played by the Crash community until we get Nitro-Fueled in 2019 (which Naughty Dog at the time, tried to ruin Crash by giving a very far fetched story with their joke character Nitrous Oxide with the goal to make the franchise die... that "bonus" game from the very end of their contracted lifespan ended up being a cult favorite, and everything else after it was a hit or miss for 10 years until the N.Sane trilogy awakened the dormant franchise)

This game is so mind-numbingly nostalgic! Still one of my favorite n64 games to this day!

@@frankiemarchese2978 I have completed Adventure 2 (basically mirror mode for those who are unaware) and good god those silver coins are far more cryptic and out of the way to grab, leading to so many reverse lapping to scout the coin locations instead of going for guides (basically playing like I would when Internet was still on Dial-up)
Nostalgia fuel for me too. Heck I waited to get an actual copy of the N64 game (which, back then, I could only get it from rentals) to unlock T.T. and truly begin mirror mode
You deserve so much more reward for all this effort

Pipsy is the best TouFool! Hey seriously, why is TT allowed in 100%? I heard your explanation during SGDQ but using that same logic, turbo mode should be allowed in 007 goldeneye right? The only difference is that TT isn't considered a "cheat" in the game but you must earn TT in more or less the same way you earn the turbo cheat in 007. And why is Adventure 2 excluded? THANKS! You helped me beat a ton of levels in DKR. I put that I beat the 8 silver coin challenge in GreenWood Village on my resume.
Dude I've watched your AGDQ Rubs of sissy King racing like 5 times each. And each time my mind and nutsac are blown in half. How in the fuck you ever did those runs, makes me think my childhood was that of an artist.

Anyone can look up these glitches online, but it takes tons of effort, talent, and patience to be able to pull them off to record the clips for this awesome series. That was a fantastic video, I remember this game glitching out a few times when my friend was obsessed with it way back in the day. I really liked the last glitch that was especially unusual.

Faschz Hey man, thank you that's means a lot. I wonder if that loading zone inside the lighthouse for future fun land can be triggered early in adventure mode?
A+Start Not that I am aware of, the trigger for FFL loading zone is the rocket cutscene. In order to trigger that it requires 4 trophies + wizpig 1. Only way I can think of bypassing these would to be find another loading zone like that in Hot Top Volcano which takes you directly to any track in FFL.
Faschz now that would be quite a find. Are there loading zones out of bounds in other tracks?
A+Start None have been found yet. The problem with finding a loading zone like this is the fact that they are invisible. We were doing research with the Japanese version and got to the point of checking each area's memory for loading zones, but there were too many objects to go through at the time. The only other confirmed instance of having an object out of bounds is in the Smokey, the dragon, level. Unfortunately it is just a balloon and you can't reach it without the use of gameshark.
Faschz that's unfortunate, but you have worked wonders in breaking the game this far, so I'll be keeping an eye out for any developments :)
I remember when I first beat Wizpig in the first race, I found it much harder than the space one. such happy times

0:25 oh yeah! That happened to me while I accidentily drove up the steep wall when I was racing Tricky, and I didn't know it was a glitch.

I swear, I came up with the phrase "son of a glitch" on my own over a decade ago. Not saying I'm the original creator of the phrase. Pretty sure a lot of folks thought about it on their own as well. Great title.

I had a glitch where every save was named something different from what my family had named it and for some reason Drumstick's frog version was there early, which, after squishing him, we got all the tracks. It was really weird.
I’m glad you mentioned this because no one else has. I remembered this as a kid. My first play through with a good buddy of mine, was the traditional way you unlock him. Played it again several years later with the same friend and we both wanted our own save files this time & when we swapped between them, the frog appeared on his first and then mine once we went back and forth a couple times. We had no idea. We were just playing the game differently than the first time and it happened.
I was wondering why that storage glitch never worked out for me >.< thanks for clearing this out. time to get a 1.1 version of the game.
Very interesting to see this after recently watching the 100% TAS, would be interesting if they glitched their way to having 100% or something.
I do like how the game doesn't just refuse to do that final glitch and instead lets you play the level even if it's not meant to be there in 2 player. Either it gave up or it just felt like you put in enough effort to validate it.
Wow! Some crazy shortcut glitches there. That's so odd how in the 1.1 version you get warped back out to the hub world at when you travel to a certain spot in Hot Top Volcano. So weird. lol!

I could never finish the N64 version as a kid because there were some nasty silver coin challenges. If I knew these glitches back then, I could've at least bypassed some sections and reached Future Fun Land. Very interesting!

I literally did not know this as a kid. It seems so basic now but like, nobody explained it to me at the time - I didn't have any friends who owned the game, and I didnt know how to find a guide, before they were commonly available online like now. and idk if this is actually explained in the game itself?? (Did i miss that part??) But bc of this, Smokey the Dragon was literally impossible (still hate that mfer)... I never got to experience the space levels until I was an adult lmfao 🤣

How many times did u fail before making this episode? because some of them look frame perfect
NextPain MCCombined countless, but some I had to perform multiple times, like the main island Hub out of bound under the lighthouse.

this is crazy. I knew a few of the Mario Kart glitches but none of these
I've got another glitch in multiplayer deathmatch. When you're playing in Icicle Pyramid with your friends, you can pick a red balloon for missiles and go down to the first floor. In some places the ice on the floor is broken, so you can shoot the missile in that place directly to the wall and the rocket just fly like a ghost trespassing every wall until gets a target. You can shoot homing missiles too, so it's very funny to see your friends getting mad with this glitch. And if you're using FREE FOR ALL cheat, is like a lot of sharks attacking your opponents.
As soon as you mentioned that volcano glitch I went and checked my copy of the game, when I looked at the back of the game I remembered I did a pretend rental store thing when I was like 5 or 6 and put tape on it, so what did I see on the back? A ripped label. I just got back from face palming and cracking from that but now I have no idea if I can do the glitch or not, so...
How the??? And here I thought the 0 Star runs of Mario would be the most impressive sequence break!

I don't know what version mine was cause I got it used at vintage stock and the back sticker was picked off but if you lift up on both sides evenly very slowly as soon as you see the rareware logo it will load in lots of weird maps and it will play an entire different cut seen, I learned that when I was a little kid, cause be honest, we've all curiously lifted up at least one game like that before
