  • MFUZOP sent me an inverter to review. This is a 12v 2000w Pure Sign Wave off grid inverter. I put it through a few tests and opened it up to see what powering the unit!

The glue is for vibration to keep things in place. Sometimes used to keep parts from bending over and touching another part. It looks messy but is good that they go to that effort.

The amperage rating depends on the temperature the cable is rated for (and the user is willing to endure). The temperature rating should be printed on the cable itself. It kinda looked like silicon so its probably rated for 200C. The bigger problem, however, is the voltage drop that you get when you try to push a lot of amps through small cables.
Which is why I'm gobsmacked that so many people are still focused on 12V gear years after they should have stopped using it. 12V gear is an exercise in self-immolation and intentional pain infliction.

I think "PC board flow direction" is for the reflow soldering of the PC board on the assembly line, not the airflow direction. 10 x 40A fuses... oh, that's funny. All to avoid using a proper ANL fuse. Also looks like a brass busbar interfacing with, essentially, solder, which is not ideal. The glue is fine... inductors vibrate under load so the glue is there to prevent them from creating an annoying "hum" noise as well as to prevent the inductor, if free-standing, from bending over and shorting against something due to G forces during shipping. Same with glue on things like connectors... to prevent disconnection during shipping.

Did it come with a ground cable by chance? I was considering this inverter but with 1/0 cabling instead.

Any stupid inverter is going to run the loads you tested. You need to demo with a small AC unit, or a refrigerator freezer, or both to demonstrate the advertised soft start technology built in to the unit.
