Im watching this again and noticed I gave a thumbs up but no comment so while I'm a suburban guy I don't want to see this side of Australia disappear, it makes me feel how I want to feel
Lee Kernaghan Mike has been huge in Australia for many years. All his songs are incredible story-telling gems. This rabbit hole if you like country music is massive.
First live singer I ever saw was Lee Kernaghan out the back of some random Bush pub near Wallget when I was a kid. Utes, wrangler jeans, R.M Williams and Bundy Rum😂🎉👍🇦🇺👏
Saw him in concert last Sunday at Gympie music muster (one of Australia’s largest country music festivals). Awesome concert. There’s a little town in Queensland called Texas and he wrote a song about it. 😀
Saw Lee live earlier this year just before Anzac Day and seen him 3 times in the last 10 yrs. just an amazing Aussie with a great story telling ability about our country.
Yes I think Texan's understand the 'Boy's from the Bush' as both are hard working and down to earth people. A 'bushie' will give you his last drink of water if you need it...absolute salt of the earth hard working people. Great reaction as per usual Mike.
Slim Dusty, Australian country royalty. He has so many to chose from, "Leave him in the long yard", "Country revival", "Lights on the hill", "Sweeney", and "When the rain tumbles down in July". And it doesn't stop there Mike. I've been watching your channel for a while and I'm really enjoying your reactions. Great job. A new subscriber here 👍🏻
Thankyou for reaction to my request. For years, it was kinda not cool to say you were a country music fan in Australia...especialy if you lived in the city. But its always been my guilty pleasure. Now that I live in rural Australia, there's something wrong with you if you dont like country music. So now I'm in my happy place.😂 Lee Kernaghan is a quintessential true blue Aussie country music legend. From his heavy Aussie accent to the stories he writes about, its all about country. I've been to his concerts in outback australia where he will perform for just a few hundred people out the back of a tin shed pub, in the middle of nowhere in the dirt, with dust flying all around as people dance and stomp in the heat. And after he's finished performing he'll join the crowd and have a chat and a beer. He a real down to earth guy. This type of venue is probably where the inspirarion for this song would have come from. The people who attended were mostly stockmen from cattle stations that are 100's of miles appart. Who probably jumped on the back of a ute with their swags (bedrolls) and drove to town for the night just to see him and have a few beers. I personally drove with a bunch of freinds from the town of Port Hedland to Marble Bar for the concert which was 200 Km away. We slept in our swags under the stars overnight, then went home the next day. The whole thing was an experience to remeber ❤
Hi Mike, One Of our Country forefathers is the legend Smokey Dawson, please react to his song the homestead of my dreams, when he recorded this he was the worlds oldest recording artist, he will be sadly missed. Cheers TeeKay
SCRUB is not a place, really. Definitely not a town, It's a generic term refering to light, open country with sparce vegetation..... but that then morphes into a term for any place out of the city.... farming districts etc. Aussie slang can quite often have different meaning, depending where you grow up. Loving your channel.
Lee Kernaghan above all is a really great guy IRL. To a rare level, a little bit of fame can make people act like complete dickheads, and the longer people are famous (even a little bit) they can turn more and more deranged. Lee is just the best guy IRL, met him a few times and it is like he is more interested in you than you are in him (even as a fan). Great dude.
Not out of line at all. The Hat is what we Marines call a "Smokey". It is the hat all Marine Corps Drill Instructors Wear while training Marines in "Boot Camp". The one hanging on the wall isn't mine, it belonged to my father. It is the one he wore in 1959 when I was born in San Diego California. He passed in 2017 and I inherited it and hung it on my wall in his memory.

How times have changed..I remember sitting or standing on the back of a Ute. There are laws against this now though.
The boy from Dirranbandi QLD. Look it up on Google Earth.
