So, for the first time ever I had my front wheel through axle literally fall out while riding. Luckily it happened in a mellow spot and didn’t cause injury. I live in Canada at this time of the year suspension pressure is critical, around the freezing point all your settings go to ish, even oil reacts very differently 🤪
wipe off the gunk or dust from the sliding surfaces of your dropper and suspension...apply a bit of grease to the dropper post and cycle it thru then wipe dry.
@@bryanm.3026 I'll unscrew the wiper cap, slide it up and put some Slick-Honey grease (just a tiny bit) around the stanchion, screw the cap back down and cycles the post a few times, then wipe it dry. It's something you'll have to do periodically, depending on conditions. I've also used dry (teflon) chain lube in a pinch.
I've gotten really into bike cleaning over the past six or so months, and it's seriously increased my enjoyment of riding. The downside is that now I'm a bit stressed when I have a garage full of dirty bikes I can't clean because I have to work (ugh). But I highly recommend Silca's drip wax lubricant. You also, unfortunately, have to use their chain stripper solution as well to clean the chain well before the first application (I suggest starting with a new chain), and everything Silca makes is a bit pricey, so it's probably not for everyone. But I have virtually no drivetrain noise anymore, and that's a big deal. Quiet bikes are fast bikes.
I bought a new Giant hardtail 5 months ago, the front brake caliper bolts fell off after 2-3 months, I was lucky I was walking the bike when I noticed the bolt fall on the wheel. I don't ride it hard, first year mtbiking. Have a torque wrench so my fault for trusting them and not double checking all bolts.
Great edit! Now if I could only figure out why my brakes in the front are fine but the rear brakes are 3 finger to stop. new pads n rotors all around...installed by the oldest bike shop in cincinnati....UGH
Sorry to hear that!! Most likely just not bed in properly 🤟🏼 I would recommend sanding down your pads, cleaning your rotor, and watching a tutorial on the best way to bed in brakes 🙏🏼
as a fairly new rider (3 years) I started riding because I would watch track walks and riders were helping people they were racing maybe take food out of their own mouth. better line might cost you...and EVERYTIME I need help somebody is always there to provide help-- the even more amazing thing is ...nobody is a dick about it. I left music because I was tired of the egos, the very snarky answers and the bs that went along with music. I AM SO GLAD I found a community that really helps others .....
I actually have a question about shimano brakes! I just got some SLX brakes and I noticed that one sides bite point is way out. there is very little dead space which I don't like. Any ideas how to fix it? I tried the free throw adjust mod with the screw and still, brakes are bled well with no air bubbles. Love the videos BTW!
Glad you enjoy the videos! Thanks for watching! If my brakes don’t have enough free stroke, I remove the pads, reset the pistons (with the cup on the lever to allow the excess oil to escape) and then reinstall the pads, hope this helps!
If you let the lube sit on the chain overnight, there is no access because the water has evaporated. I mean so you’re just wiping a chain that doesn’t need to be wiped.

Yeah boee. Mudder gets a wash after every ride. Dusty after a few rides. Lube chain and stanchions after each wash. Makes me feel safe and happy😊.

I'd add begin with a full decontamination of the brake pads or for $20 just toss them and put new ones in.

In the case of a dry lube, yes, but wet lubes need to be wiped from my knowledge 🤙🏻
