Star Wars Battlefront is an action game played from either a first-person or third-person view; players can switch at any time, similarly to the previous games.[8] Players traverse planets from the Star Wars universe, such as Endor, Hoth, Tatooine and the newly introduced planet of Sullust. To navigate the world, players use a variety of vehicles, including both air and land-based vehicles.[9] Battles are planet-based, restricting players from exploring space. The game's weapons, characters, gear and abilities are customizable.[10] As new weapons are unlocked, players have the ability to share them with their teammates.[9] Battlefront will not feature iron sights.[11]
The game lets players choose to control either a Rebel Alliance soldier or an Imperial Stormtrooper. There will also be playable characters from the films, such as Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker and Boba Fett,[12] as well as non-playable characters, such as R2-D2 and C-3PO.[13] The game includes cooperative missions which can be played offline but does not have a campaign mode. Players can complete the missions both independently and with bots or another player; the game supports split screen on consoles. The game's online multiplayer mode supports up to 40 players in one match and 12 multiplayer maps will be available at launch. These maps will feature five locations from the Star Wars universe - Hoth, Tatooine, Endor, Sullust and Jakku.The battle of Jakku occurred one year and four days after the battle of Endor between the forces of the New Republic and the Galactic Empire. With the rebels aiming to capture a critical sector in the Galactic Civil War and receiving intelligence of an Imperial weapons facility on the planet,[3] the Empire readily dismissed the notion of a rebel victory and sent a large portion of its now depleted Navy to combat the rebels over control of the planet in a battle that could change the course of the war. Due to the Empire's martial defeats across the galaxy, along with severe depletion of its military reserves, the barely settled planet would serve as a rallying point for the Order's shattered forces. With the Empire's command of many of the galaxy's major shipyards, Republic forces planned a bold move to capture the Imperial-class Star Destroyer Inflictor, sending Thane Kyrell and a number of former Imperials to board the ship and disable its hyperdrive and self-destruct mechanism, due to their knowledge of Star Destroyer layouts.
The battle would soon begin as New Republic warships initiated an intense assault. The battle, while tactically in the Empire's advantage from the beginning soon turned into a rout, with New Republic soldiers assaulting the concentrated Imperial positions from multiple sides at once both on the ground and in space. With the Imperials no longer having the martial advantage it once had in the years before Endor, flawed tactics as much as leadership gnawed away at an Imperial victory. With Imperial Captain Ciena Ree of the Inflictor about to contact Grand Moff Randd to suggest splitting up the fleet to combat the Rebel star cruisers from multiple angles, as well as sending twenty-gun raiders into the atmosphere to support the TIE fighters in orbit, her ship was suddenly boarded by New Republic soldiers. With no choice, the commander of the vessel attempted to activate the ship's self-destruct, only to discover that the boarders had disabled it. Seeing no other option, as well as seeing a way to leave the Empire she disliked while keeping her oath, Ree ordered her crew to evacuate and then scuttled the ship by crashing the Star Destroyer onto the surface of Jakku, sending shockwaves across the desert world. However before the crash, Thane Kyrell stunned and managed to carry her to an escape pod before the Inflictor crashed, bringing the Captain and miraculously his former lover into Republic custody.

This was incredible. The Battle of Jakku map is just so beautiful.
Hell ALL the maps in this game are beautiful.
Such a journey playing when all the dlc’s were still coming out.
That was pretty epic, I would love to see a movie on the Battle of Jakku, because it truly shows the Empire's last true moments, and just seeing how succesfful the Rebels now were at easily bringing down Star Destroyers.
Same... episode 7 should have been called Aftermath or Empire's End (like the novels)

I love how during the clone wars the war ended after the republic defeated the sepratist and due to order 66 and here the galactic civil war ends on jakku. Very interesting.
Pretty neat video. At times there was so many fighters it looked liked swarms of bees or something. Like the big crash down at the end.

Why would star destroyers, or even super star destroyers operate within a planet's atmosphere? It seem extremely counterproductive.
to deploy starfighters into battle faster. They wanted control of the planet.
VΛRZ But wouldn't that render them more vulnerable to an enemy's planetary defenses? After all, they would be at much closer range than if they were orbiting the planet. Also, the gravitational forces inside the planet's atmosphere would be much greater, can you imagine the energy it would take to keep those giants aloft?
Using up energy isn't an issue for those star destroyers. The anti gravity repulsers hardly use 1/4 of the ship's power.
And what would make the difference if the ships were up and space or in atmosphere? the battle would still come to them such as the Battle of Endor. If they're vulnerable in the atmosphere then they'd be vulnerable in space. Take a look at the Battle of Hoth where an Ion shot takes out a SD all the way in space.
In this scenario it just so happened they fought in atmosphere, possibly to deploy troops quicker on to the ground battle which makes sense in my book. You're not going to take control of a planet if you just fly above it and send your forces miles and miles away with no immediate air support.
Another likely scenario is that the Super Star Destroyer was crippled in a much larger orbital battle and came crashing down on the planet. The other Star Destroyers may have come down to launch fighters and see to the safe and covered evacuation of the ship crew. Being a SSD, it likely had several high ranking officers on board. In this case, the intention of capturing the planet is irrelevant. If you have read the now non-canon books The Thrawn Trilogy, it's not abnormal for capitol ships to enter the atmosphere. A damaged ship, however, requires much more power - power this ship obviously didn't have - and a great deal of careful maneuvering. A more canonical rendition of a capitol ship entering orbit would be the battle of Sullust in the book Star Wars Twilight Company. In this book, the action of moving into atmosphere is considered extremely risky when the planetary defenses are not your own.

great visuals but I have two items that are easy fixes in post production. The first is shorter cuts (all action movies have fast-paced visuals, it is a good quality to have if you are trying to get an action packed scene), the second is music, simply copy a piece you think would fit in with this video from the soundtrack. Other than that you guys did a great job!
great vid, it does need some epic music in it, and some Foley and ADR would just set it off.
Its crazy to think something so massive took place over Jakku, after the fall of the 2nd death star most of the imperial fleet fled to Jakku to seek refuge not really expecting an ambush

can you imagine what sort of energy could possibly enable these impressive ships to stay afloat. we can't even imagine... it really is sad that our imagination wants Armageddon to happen one way or another.
This game is about as deep as a puddle.
And how would you make it better?
Ass Kicker 1) Add an actual campaign, ideally with both single and multiplayer modes.
2) ADD FUCKING SPACE BATTLES. This is Star Wars for fucks sake. Star Destroyers and Mon Calamari cruisers battling each over in the atmosphere makes no sense.
3) Vehicles should be earned by gaining experience, not simply handed out. Think War Thunder. It's ridiculous how newb players can simply rack up insane kills in Slave 1 or the Falcon because they were the first to get to the floating power up.
4) Get rid of the floating power ups. They completely ruin any sense of immersion and are just cheap.
5) Add more depth to the weapons and vehicles. I don't mean war thunder levels of details but at the very least the ability to manage shields, energy, paint jobs and weapon load outs. See the X-Wing and TIE Fighter games for example.
6) Nix the gimicky 'special moves' from fighters. Players should use skill to out fight their opponents instead of hitting a cheap barrel roll button.
7) Add meaningful customizations to characters and weapons. Virtually every other online game beats SWBF in this area, even the online parts of single player games!
8) Add elements to encourage players to work as a team. Players should not be allowed to single handedly Rambo a map with just a DL-44 blaster. Downed players need to be revived etc.
9) Basically look at every other successful multiplayer game from the last ten years and copy the features that work. SWBF is so bare bones that it make the original BF look like masterpieces. And they had space battles!
10) Stop gouging players with DLC and transactions for pointless things like e-motes.
Kiyoshi Kirishima I think this is done on purpose, in order to squeeze as much money as possible out of gamers. They make small updates, to get more money. Which is a cheap stunt in my opinion, why milk loyal gamers ?? Thats wrong, but about the space battles, wouldnt it be difficult in star wars ? Unless its massive scale battles??

Kiyoshi Kirishima Yeah, but those had a maximum of 16 units each. The battles never got very intense. That was so disappointing about those games. I feel the depth of a space battle on the new Battle front would be seriously intense, could be an overload of components. Im all for it though. Itd be pretty sweet. Battlefront II style space battle , with units spawning inside the cruisers, maybe expanding the area you can explore on the cruiser, a variety of ships to pick from, customizable ships and uniform, upgradable weapons, more enemy units , 16 was just too few. More capital ships and what not, and personally ive always wanted to play as Jedi/Boba/Vader on space battles.
The battles outside of the map is what fighter squadron should have been like :(
Much better than the first one. Audio transitions are much improved. Some great shots and cut pacing, (particularly 2:00 to 2:12). Still need to work on cut transitions. You don't need a wipe or blur transition every time you cut. Keep up the good work though!

you could make a star wars miniseries if you really dedicated a bjt of time or associiates to hand pick and plan certain scenes and battle scenarios for different themed episodes. just an idea but if well done it could be received well

i don't think A-Wings are best suited to sitting behind something and defending it, what with them being designed as super-fast interceptors.
Unless Kuat had some great production speed, I don't think the SSD should be there.

EA ruins everything. The focus has not been the game but eventually the money. How to sell the most by decieving. BF is a clear example. Great start and look what we have now: nothing that is BF related, but more COD.
if a super star destroyer went crashing into the surface, no matter of its velocity, you would a least expect something to happen on the battlefield.
Lets just say, if anyone is in viewrange of an impact several times greater then a nuclear explosion....
just a few comments... I like the video (I just know a thing or two about movies...Critic here..)
- As previously commented... add music ie. John Williams original score from the original movies would fit nicely
- insert some form of emotion, to help the viewer to attach to the character/ pilot... studies have shown viewers attention to be increased dramatically if they feel for at least one of the characters on screen (Boba Fett stole alot of love for his small role hence why they were able to throw him in the prequels too...)
- add some tragedy, yes there are both rebels and imperials being shot down, but if you have the emotional connection to one side or the other this will greatly impact the tragedy... (Porkins, and Biggs Darklighter.. in the movies we felt for porkins because lets face it, he was the cute fat one who thought he was the best... all larger people have that confidence its great and thats why it was tragic when he got shot down, Biggs, similar situation, his attachment to the main character allowed viewers to auto-latch onto him with some emotion and so it caused his death to be tragic...)

Especially the Ravager crashing just doesnt seem to have much of an effect at all...
