At 29 years young, Julian Nagelsmann is the youngest coach in the Bundesliga. Injured out of the game as a youth player, Nagelsmann committed himself to coaching. With his mantra "coaching is 30% tactics & 70% social competence", you'd be forgiven for assuming that Nagelsmann wasn't a tactician - but at Hoffenheim, the young coach has borne a mouthwateringly modern set-up, heavily influenced by the great tacticians of the past.

despite being a Bayern fan, I love watching Hoffenheim play this season and I thought many of their match results were well deserved, especially the 1-1 draw with Bayern in the first half of this season. Thanks for this video, it was a good summary!

Wow, am I not the only one that notices that Hoffenheim's tactics (at least from this video) is very reminiscent to Antonio Conte's Juventus. 3-5-2 setup, Wing backs, possession oriented yet direct at the same time with the centerbacks pushing the ball to the strikers which lay it off to the midfielders immediately

Another brilliant video. Love the the similarities between Hoffenheim and my team Preston North End. We played that formation in our most recent promotion season - 3 centrebacks who each specialise in different things (one of whom scored 9 goals that season), 2 wingbacks with great stamina and pace to get up and down, a holding midfielder who mopped up, two CAMs who have the freedom to express themselves thanks to the solid unit behind them (21 goals between them) and two top L1 strikers (45 goals between them all season). Add to this a real squad togetherness that has us now pushing for the playoffs in the Championship despite a bottom-3 budget.
Its nice to watch videos about the Bundesliga, which I don't get a lot of exposure to. Love these in general as well.

Shame that Bayern ripped out their heart (Rudy) and steel (Süle) as is their policy.
Arkasubhro Chatterjee just like what they did to dortmund by buying best player..
Both players are needed by Bayern. Rudy is way more flexible than 50% of all Bayern-Midfielders, and Süle is one of the 3 best CB talents in europe.
Arkasubhro Chatterjee rudy has no contract anymore and Süle is talented, German and has a better chance to get better with Martìnez, Hummels and Boateng 😂😍

Keshav R Even though you are right with what you are saying, this is a classic tu-quoque logical fallacy. There is a big difference in buying talented players from other teams and repeatedly buying the best players from the direct opponent. This has been especially true for Borussia Dortmund (see Hummels, Götze, Lewandowski) and is now repeated with Hoffenheim. I ask you: isn't it awkward to win the Bundesliga with the core of Borussia Dortmund?

I noticed the strength of what I call the 'Forward Square' set up in FIFA for how much you can do once you have possession. I always thought it would be hard to implement in real life as you need versatile players, but if Nagelsmann can make it work, who knows how it will affect future team set ups? #3-3-4

Man, I really have a pet peeve for English narrators not prononcing V properly when it's a German one. They're really careful with Spanish z and ll (except in the curious case of Hector Bellerin) but the f sound of the v eludes them still.

Zidane's tactics - Cross the ball into the box and hope some tall guy heads it into goal. I seriously don't know how he's been successful at Real Madrid but Rafa Benitez couldn't. I guess it's just down to the players' mentality........
Marcelo or Carvajal cross the ball to Ronaldo, Bale or Benzema hopefully that goes in if not a corner. Kroos cross the ball to Ramos and hopefully he scores. Repeat.

Naggelsmann's Hoffenheim has better tactics then
Antonio Conte's Chelsea. Their performance and results might not be exactly at the level of Chelsea, but Tactic wise they are far too better.

It's always interesting to see who's the inspiration behind a managers philosophy. It'd be great to see a 'family tree' of sorts, going back and linking managers to their predecessors and such, if that's at all possible?
Not enough history to the game yet, it's possible to see the evolution of formations but as for creative managers inspiring each other I don't think a tree would be possible :(

Fenerbahce was the champions in 2013/14 season they were playin really good and offensive football they were unbeaten till january or so. We guranted to finished 1. At april!!! Their "pendulum effect" was massively exposed by Liverpool recently. This formation can't really stand a chance against high pressing football from Klopp or Diego Simeone

Desperately needed at Arsenal due to his tactical flexibility as well as getting the best out of his players plus working with a relatively small budget, PERFECT FIT.

+uMAXit Football Hopefully, he's a great long term prospect and we know Arsenal love stability. although I cant see it happening in the upcoming season as I'm guessing he'll want to play Champions League football for at least a season witht the club he snatched from the jaws of relegation to 3rd/4th place, and it doesnt even look like Arsenal will be playing CL football next season. I also read somewhere (ESPN I think) that Arsenal are looking to bring in Hoffenheims sporting director Alexander Rosen, the man who brought Naglesmann to the club so this can only help if Arsenal are in fact interested in hiring Naglesman. If they are they need to act quickly as I'm sure there will be a plethora of clubs looking to secure his services.
