How RB Leipzig under Julian Nagelsmann are the Bundesliga’s surprise package | Tactics Explained. The German coach started his senior managerial career at Hoffenheim in 2015, at just the age of 28! After an impressive three seasons and managing to take 1899 Hoffenheim to the Champions League - Nagelsmann earned himself a move to RB Leipzig in summer 2019.
Rb Leipzig are currently sitting top of the table in the Bundesliga and have just come off winning their first Champions League game of the season - vs. Benfica with two goals from coming from Timo Werner. Leipzig are definitely in with a chance of lifting the Bundesliga title, but will need to take advantage of any slip ups from Bayern Munich and not fall off - as Dortmund did last season.

Winning the Bundesliga, would be a hell of a statement from Julian Nagelsmann and his side, but even a strong Champions League run - beyond the group stages would be seen as an achievement for the first season in charge from the German coach. Let’s have a look at how Julian Nagelsmann’s style. Nagelsmann is a pragmatic manager meaning his defensive shape and pressing traps are dependent on how their opponents are building, for example if they play through a defensive midfielder, he will set up a trap centrally by inviting them to play through his strikers before having one of the central midfield’s “jump” onto the number six after a bad touch or receiving the ball with their back to play and look to win the ball back high and directly counter.
What Nagglesmann has done so well this season - is having the right mix of experienced players, still getting the best out of them with the likes of Marcel Halstenberg has been involved involved in goals already this season and has managed to play the win-back and full-back roles just as well, showing Nagglesmann’s tactical flexibility. At the same time we’ve seen the German tactician use Ibrahima Konate & Nordi Mukiele in his back line with a lot of trust and both of the French u21 internationals have repaid Nagelsmann with incredible performances this season, one of those against Bayern Munich - after holding out to a 1-1 draw at home in the Red Bull Arena.

RB Leipzig is a rather big club and on the rise. I think people often underestimate the size and ambition of this club. Will he manage a top 10 team some day. Perhaps. Could RB Leipzig become that team. It's not impossible.
Bayern Munich, I guess. He's Bavarian, supported the club in his childhood and apparently they've already made contact with him during his Hoffenheim days.

Although I agree with pretty much everything, to call him the best tactician in football is a bit much. Given the resources at his disposal I would say gian piero gasperini of Atalanta is better. However I do agree with most of this video and Leipzig’s ability to shift formations and positions so frequently during a game is all due to the intellect and intelligence of the coach.

If Leipzig win the Bundesliga title don't be so sure Werner will leave, especially to Bayern. Leipzig can match any salary demands and, although the release clause is very low allowing Werner to dictate his future in terms of team choice, Leipzig have all of what Bayern have to offer if he wants to stay in Germany. Fully believe RB have confidence in their system, their organisation from top to bottom is first rate and they and the players know it...
@@cybermanne by all recent accounts, Forsberg is happy at Leipzig. I too remember reading rumours of a move/transfer rumours regarding Emil but he's been getting plenty of playing time, apparently has a solid relationship with Nagelsmann, and Leipzig are winning. There has been no recent rumours so I assume everything is solid.

@@StatmanDave Yeah people criticize Kovac a lot but I don't think he actually has a squad to win the champions league. In my opinion needed a big winger signing (Sane) and not Coutinho or Perisic. Question: In the Bayern game, the 5atb got exposed pretty badly in the first half with Leipzig holding the backline of 3 central defenders against only Lewandowski and as a result missing 1 or even 2 players near the ball and trying to cover especially Müller between the lines. Isn't it standard for the center backs who remain free to push out into midfield for marking and make sure exactly that doesn't happen? Why did he think this would work against a side that is good with the ball in the first place? Would love to hear your thoughts, your channel really helps to understand the game!
Bayern has Koman and Gnabry really wide pinning the WBs with Lewa and muller off the line. This meant RB’s pressing structure broke. The WBs could no longer press the FBs. So they had all the space in the world. Nagelsmann changed it to a 4-4-2 at HT the correct change and then they dominated.
