It seems a very interesting talk but... I do not understand 😕 . For me this is one of the best bands with original songs. Fabulous band!!!! Their songs Bring me a lot of memories when I was a child, and of course my eternal love to the beautiful singer. English or Spanish could be great 👍
Oh, mer-say!, how I've loved pop and rock music from Holland! It all began for us in USA with Shocking Blue, and to this day I still hold Mariska to be one of the best rock singers in history. It's a shame that otherwise only Golden Earring clicked in the US; we should've been more exposed to Earth and Fire too. It's also a shame that I don't really have the Dutch language down, because Boudewijn de Groot makes the best music extant now, and I can only understand it (and him) limitedly. But we still have the good memories of Shocking Blue and Mariska's dynamite singing (and looks!) JAT
Good documentary. The shocking part that leaves you blue is that even though she was the face of the band, the songwriter/guitar player was the only one who got rich. She was always so sweet about it. He retired from the band, living off his royalties. Not long after Shocking Blue she was actually a DJ for a few years. He wrote the song, but it was Mariska Veres who made it into a megahit. That's why artists have agents in the US.
the amazing thing about the late Mariska was she could sing dead on an English just like anybody but could not speak a lick of it when not singing.. it's like Golden earring the same thing for the most part. huge everywhere but in u.s. and Canada
Born in New Zealand but to Dutch parents, so thankfully I could understand most of this. Amazing to hear the music and to follow the band's story. Reuze leuk!
WELL WHAT EVER YOU DID IT WAS RIGHT. OTHER ACTS TODAY ARE FORGOTTEN BUT AFTER 40 YEARS SHOCKING BLUE AND MARISKA WITH VENUS SOUNDS BRAND NEW. HER AND THE GROUP HAD THE IT FACTOR.
One of my favorite albums ever! Still looking for the Vinyl album. Bought a couple of Motions albums a while ago. Also very good, but not nearly as brilliant as Shocking Blue. Eeuwig respect voor Robbie van Leeuwen!
Can some one add sub-titles to it in english. Really want to understand what they are saying. Anyone know if Marsika married Andrei towards the end of her life.
VERY late reply here, but just in case you should see this, no. Mariska never legally married André to my knowledge, although they were in a committed relationship for 20 years.
i had this beach boys LP once that was printed in dutch, man it drove me nuts not being able to read the miles of text. you couldn't even glean what they were trying to say like with german. this...is bringing it all back
Mariska Veres was one of the most beautiful women ever to walk the face of the Earth. Cleopatra level beauty and a great singer with a great voice.
This NEEDS to be done in English for TV - a truly underated band!
In Spanish too
Yes !
Totally true - not only underrated and unheralded but easily one of the top 10 greatest bands in music history!! Just listen to their entire catalog!!

Robbie you are the man, you deserve so much more credit for your work! Thanks man, thanks Mariska, thanks Shocking Blue, big fan sense 1969😎
I turn the volume up for the great songs and that's all of them! Thanks again

You are totally right! Mariska should have had more (financial) credits for all her recordings.
Wow this is so cool. A classic albums about Shocking Blue. I never thought i'd see the day. It would be great to have a translation.
RIP Mariska Veres (vocalist), Klaasje Van Der Waal (bassist) and Cees Van Der Beek (drummer)
Cornelis
Please add English subtitles that would be phenomenal!!
Yes I agree
the amazing thing about the late Mariska was she could sing dead on an English just like anybody but could not speak a lick of it when not singing..
it's like Golden earring the same thing for the most part.
huge everywhere but in u.s. and Canada
Thank you guys for posting this video..such a pearl!! The Best Dutch Band of all history besides Focus..
I really wish there would be translation to many of the Shocking Blue interviews!
Because many artist/musicians/singers are passing away, many of them are not known by today's generation. That is very sad. : (
Thanks a lot for posting though a subtitles in English is a must!
Born in New Zealand but to Dutch parents, so thankfully I could understand most of this. Amazing to hear the music and to follow the band's story. Reuze leuk!
Love this! Thank You!!!

♥ I love this ♥ So very glad you shared this. ♪♪♪
No English subtitles!? Why?
They had more killer music/song than just 'Venus', I realize that now.
Yes, one of the greatest bands of all time.
For God's sakes...please put English subtitles. America wants to know about this incredible bands story!! Thx
The world is waiting for an english subtitle
Cd liner notes are helpful. There are bios on line. My favorite is 'Alaskan Highway' on their 3rd I think.
wouu!! great!! *****
I would also like the English translation here!
Ah, the Banjo song, very well arranged.
One of my favorite albums ever! Still looking for the Vinyl album. Bought a couple of Motions albums a while ago. Also very good, but not nearly as brilliant as Shocking Blue. Eeuwig respect voor Robbie van Leeuwen!
Great

Damn!!! Anywhere to hear this in English?
Who cares about the English I'm glad to just see new video of the band.
Basically, but they sang all songs in English. But not one interview in English!
Cees van Leeuwen R.I.P
He dead what?
Yes, and Klaasje (the bass player) also.
i had this beach boys LP once that was printed in dutch, man it drove me nuts not being able to read the miles of text. you couldn't even glean what they were trying to say like with german. this...is bringing it all back

Subs would be great, to know who says what and when...
-in dutch, unfortunately-
Not if you're Dutch!
subtitles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
English please!
the others parts ?
Can anybody explain me why Mariska's voice sounds like a male voice on Venus recording and doesn't sound the same in other songs? Thanks!
sixties,seventies country music
I always thought the same thing Roger. In fact I mention it in a novel I'm writing. Now I know I'm not the only one who thought so.
She switched gender for that song.
By the way where were the Shocking Blue players from ? England? France? C'mon boys of the baby boom generation rock & roll of the late 60's .
the drummer is still alive?
No. He died in 1998.
shame I don't speak german
German? This is Dutch.
Very selfish of you to make it dutch
Man I hate those Dano Basses. Longhorn who thought that looked good?
