- today, the 14 of december 2008, it was 40 years ago, Mariska Veres and Shocking Blue entered the dutch charts for the very first time.
1968 was the start of a hugh carrier of this dutch band. One year later the whole world knew who Shocking Blue was, because of there hit Venus.
Oh, and sharts must be charts( of course😁) - เพลง
This song is over 50 years old and it STILL brings down the house 🤘 RIP Mariska & Klaasje.
And Cor, the drummer 😥
@@ShockingBlueandMariskaVeres I just saw that. He died at 49...WAY too young. RIP Cor.
And the postcards íts still exists
Billion times better than most manufactured rubbish now...
I love that RAWARARAW sound... 😮
The 1960s had class! A time of great music and fashion and Mariska could show all those today a lesson in how it's done! RIP beautiful lady!
Im 68yrs old, and she had a most beautiful voice..them times so many female singers were evolving, you couldnt keep up.❤ loved them all.
Man, that drum tone is unreal for that era!!!!
Better than Lars on Justice for all
Jerry Frost are u still living
@@shannettethompson686 you betcha
@@bangtwister Lars isn'tagreat drummer. That double bass part in "One" was the only hard thing he ever really played.
It’s miced up correctly, ran through the main board and adjusted accordingly.
Cor van der Beek (RIP) does nicely on drums here, as usual.
Mariska is using two mics taped together. One is for the onstage monitor mix, the other is connected to and mixed through the main board.
Nothing high tech about it, it’s old school yet valid nonetheless.
I was lucky enough to be a teenager in Holland when Shocking Blue were THE BAND along with Golden Earring!!
Totally awesome then, still freakin awesome today 🎸
❤ that’s so beautiful!!!
Radar Love, now you’re talking👍🏻
@@pastymansixtynine 👍
Their best song! Hard, psychedelic but still glorious pop! BRAVO!
I agree 100% !!
I could not have said it better!!
pop¿?
I love Shocking Blue. It was Nirvana and Love Buzz that really got me.
That original is muddy and pre-stoner.
👍
Yeah, it's like Jefferson Airplane with Grace Slick.
We will always remember Mariska. What an incredible woman!
With an awesome voice.
@@christianestamm2655 It is amazing. She will always rock hard. I'll send her a postcard in heaven. If it doesn't arrive, I will meet her there. I promise.
She is crazy awesome
But also the boys!
They falling just as hard.
Klaasje
I am lucky to have stumbled on this one! Was before my time, but what a truly kickass vintage rock song.
52 years ago, yesterday! Sounds as fresh as new!
Impossible! She's not using autotune! 🤣
In seriousness, she had an incredible voice for sure. One of the best vocalists of all time and certainly for the era. "Postcard" is a frequently enjoyable song because of it 😊
@@ShamrockParticleshe was considered the Dutch Grace Slick and it's possible that someone considers her voice better of the two. Anyway there's miss Aretha Franklin vying for first place, and Diana Ross, Tina Turner, Mina..
Sure.. a lot of sixties songs sounds still fresh also if not so new!
Shocking Blue was a great band (and not only Venus, they had so many stunning songs); Mariska Veres a dream of a woman and a fantastic voice. I liked her music so much as a teenager and today too. I am always searching for tunes, that I don't have.
My first song that I heard from them was Long and Lonesome Road, instantly fell in love.
@@LarsTragel-zh7ei I am a little bit older, my thoughts were "What a beautiful woman with a super voice and this great sound ".
@@Evo_Skorpion They have SO much kicking songs... that's 👍too.
Here this band us underrated. I have vinyl-collection. 0 lame songs. R.I.P... that so beautiful voiceholder...
Navajo Tears!!!
Holy shit! Such a voice. Stunning.
Killer song beside Venus. Great band with the super looking Mariska Veres, who had an awesome voice. Love this band forever.
Always had such a crush for this girl. Great voice. Was so sad to hear of her passing.

Goddess of Music with the magic voice!Beautiful💝💗💞💖💓😘
In memory of Mariska Veres 11/2006, as a teenager I danced and had a lot of fun with her songs, Thank you, and the friends I had fun with in those times, thank you too, R.I.P. and thanks again for your beautifull songs that inspired us.
Amazing singer. I'm sad he's not here anymore 😞
I heard this song recently and fell in love with it❤❤❤❤❤
Amazing song. The incomparable Mariska Veres. Love the organ in this.
I listened to some very good covers of this song. But mariska and the rest of the band put so much energy into this version. Definitely the best ever. And of course, no one matches mariska for beauty
I was born in 1968 and grew up, mostly, in San Francisco (Hayes Valley then later in the Mission district all in the decade of the 70s), and so just new to life and around 7 or 8 heard 'Venus' among other songs and thought it was rocking.
I had no idea that they had other numbers more dynamic and with tunes put well together, such as this number.
I still have that single record. And it's my favourite Shocking Blue song.
I heard this in the eightys once and found it again today almost cried what a great song.
That voice ! Those looks ! This song ! Terrific.
..are you alive ?
What a great song. Totally psychedelic. Great voice.Yeah.
That psychedelic fuzz guitar and drums are just slamming it. Then you've got the cool, light organ floating in and out. Sharp, hard vocals. What a sonic blast from the trippy/hippie past.
Don't forget the catchiest bass line known to man too
Its ridiculous, only just found this band, their music is amazing
Perfect description!
Absolutely amazing track!!! Powerful energy.....
Recognition at last!!! Shocking Blue LP's are now worth a small fortune. BEST DUTCH GROUP EVER!!!
OOPS! i thought they were from Greece ?
@@kolloduke3341Mariska was hungarian 🙂
Pure brilliance, luv The Shocking Blue.💜💜💜💜💜💜
Lord have Mercy on a Beautiful woman with a Beautiful voice
God, I never heard it. 🤘😝🤘fantastic.
I remember being in a ss chevelle 396 when I heard the song for the first time I wish I could go back
She is absolutely Gorgeous, beautiful voice and so much fun to watch. So much better than the ones now days. She would of been fun to meet and have tea with.
Not the tee only...hell
True, I love her clothes too.
whomever recorded and produced these guys was a genius, ref. venus, inkpot, and this one
I wish this song had been played in the US! I really like it. Far out :)
Stunning woman great song.
there certainly ain't no lover like her in town no more ...
rest in peace sweet Mariska Veres !!
She was the best Rockstar woman in that era
This song gives me the chills,
I love it !
Entertainers today can take a lesson from Mariska Veres on how to sing and remain classy doing it! Love the 1960s!
I have a feeling Floor Jansen paid attention.
She really grabbed my eyes. Too cool!
Never gets old
great drum sound and 'aint no lover like me in town' is such a badass sexy line.
...and the fuzz guitar of course
That they never made in in the US, they were our dutch Woodstock performers, they easely can compete.
👋😃🇳🇱
Based,Classic Band. They didnt have many hits but their influence is still wildly understated.
Actually the weird thing is my wife and I (43 and 46) just recently discovered these guys. We knew that Bananarama covered Venus but we decided to give the original a listen and before you know it, we were fans. One song to the next were ALL HITS. In our opinion at least. Butterfky and I, Never marry a railroad man, Postcard, Deamon Lover Etc Etc I couldn't believe that this band has not been consistently mentioned in the same breath as Jefferson Airplane, The Doors, The Yardbirds, etc etc... At least in america they aren't. These guys are HOF'ers. All Day. Such an underrated band.
Mariska, gipsy girl, killer voice!
Killer looks!!!
Goth before Goth.
my gosh, they have many good songs
Mariska Veres is beautiful and very cool.👏
Unbelievable!!! Love her. So cute..
First time hearing this. Hard to believe this was 1968. Seems a lot more modern sounding. Great song!
Great tune. Such an organic mix as well. Great stuff.
I think that 56 years later I'm really going to send her a postcard telling that I love her so much 🥰
Awesome 1960-years sound !
Love this song!
If Mariska Veres would love a 5-year-old boy in 1968 like myself he would definitely have loved her back❤
Damn this is incredibly good! Great stuff and we are talkin about 1968!
1968 is WHY it is good!
Music my childhood, still amazing💖
very nice good looker with a powerful voice to go along with MARISKA VERAS
Legendary dutch band.... amazing song.
Very underrated band!
I freaking love you Mariska!
surprised this band were not huge in uk,excellent
What a piece of music !!!
Was watching Hightower on Starz. Episode ended with this song. Never heard it before and was so surprised how old it was!!! Great song!!
and just recent a new clip! th-cam.com/video/3W3xMVTQlBc/w-d-xo.html
Vocals, bass ( one of my favorites lines for play it ) ... Brutal ( guitar, keyboard and drum too 😅)
A great theme... I never get tired of hearing it 🥰
Mariska always un our hearts.
🥲
Bye... 🤪
Such insane vocals, so intense drums beat and Psychedelic guitars
Amazing tune!!!
🙂🙂
She is one of the first rock chic 💚
Oh yes😎😎😎😎 Nice Sphinks cats on your profile pic🖤
yes she is
She was the dutch version of Grace Slick 😉
@@lupodelupis3672 Exactly, and better looking.
@@lupodelupis3672 Or how about Grace was the U.S., much less nice version of Mariska!
That was awsome!
I wanna play that song, when i drive a Mustang on the german highway. Such a feeling!
This band is bigger then everything !!!!! ! !
They were a brilliant band.
now i ca´t sed yuu a postcard man terefore i´m sending you this email now
Fantastic..🎼🎵🎶🎸
To those complaining about the video, at least one has been made instead of a series of a few stills. There is another version like that, so go there and enjoy the long ad at the start! Nice job, great song, and drum sound, at first made me think it was a retro-style, but new song
A CLASSIC!!! 🎸✨
Great drumming! Great song!
She and band never got their due.... May she RIP.
The only due they got was Nirvana nodding their style, but I rather listen to Shocking Blue.
She's so beautiful ❤❤❤❤❤
Beautiful; THANKS!!
what a great song!
Als klein jongetje was ik toch wel heel verliefd op deze mooie vrouw ❤️
One of the most underrated bands from that era!
Shocking Blue was very good. Good songs, good singing, good musicians.
I like the loud drumming most! My favourite Shocking Blue song is Hello Darkness.
Absolutely ahead of their time very 80s MTV punk edge thrilling
Great vocal. Rippin' fuzzzzzzzzzzz. Undiscovered masterpiece of psych pop.
Goddess of Music with the magic voice!Beautiful!Love youRIP💖
Time never stops.
i lovely rockn, roll. thank you very much.
The bass line from Nirvana's Lounge Act was inspired by the bass line from this song.
this song rocks ...
Amazing band!!
Mariska Veres had a great vocal style.
Bring me this time back again
It is true that some "people" seriously disliked this masterpiece
@surely they did never received a postcard
@@macarchers HAHAHAHA. , to be honest I listened to them for a while but eventually stopped as I never really liked her voice/way of singing, nothing wrong with it, it just annoys me a little somehow. It's a bit of a pity because the music is amazing.
@@user-pn7uc7ph2i as you said music is amazing,at less it made you smile
Cool song Shocking Blue just mighty band.
Wowww I love it !! Since my 11 years old yeahhhh !!
half a century before its time.
pretty nice rippin guitar sound, and killer organ too.
Mariska on organ
Late 60's to early 70's fuzz. Still sounds heavy today.
My old band wanted to incorporate a female vocalist for mostly back up but it was only fair she got to lead vocal so we did this and it was fun to play.
One of my favorite songs.
