    You are the best!!! The "Turning the Screw" swing tip is absolutely the best single golf tip I have ever heard of and I have been playing golf for over 50 years. No more cupping my left-hand in the backswing ever again.
    I have always wondered how great ball strikers did it, know I know.
    After watching your great golf swing tips, I feel almost like I have been wasting my time.
    Now I know what it really feels like to smash the golf ball with little effort.
    #1 Golf Move that I have ever seen!!!

    Discoverd this a few months ago while playing around with wedges, and when I did it, blew my mind. To me it's harder to get that feeling in the mid to long iron's though. Just means more practice, thanks for the tips, spot on!!!

    Matt, loved the tip, makes a forward shaft lean easier. Also, you need to check to see if Tarzan is ok, 6:02 he fell from his vine. 😂 he started a 4:42 over your fence , left of your hitting are. Where is Jane? Keep making the vids. I love your new studio...SWEET!

    Thank you Mr.SG for this validation. I recently experimented with this move but do it at the start of my backswing and tried your move. It gives the same result but I think it made it feel more natural. Now I have a swing that I know will work well. Thanks again Matt! More power to you!

    I tried this move last week during chip/pitch practice and it fixed everything for me !, Im going to play tomorrow and see how it's under pressure. Haven't try the "screw" trick on full swing but will do. Thanks again!

    This move has worked really well with my 6*7*8* and maybe 9 but W*G* and LW, not so much for distance but, and with all of them, it helped my direction. I am stunned at how little effort was needed. If you look at your club on the backswing, the head is shut and in perfect position. Thanks, amigo!

    I see this in Dustin Johnson's swing. On the top of his backswing, you can see he has extremely twisted his left wrist showing a strong bowed hand. (That's on driver, too). This has helped me to eliminate my pushes and hit solid. I definitely can tell the difference when I don't supinate. Great tip! 👍🏌⛳

  • @robertcourt8593
    @robertcourt8593 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This makes so much difference! strike becomes purer, ball flight is much more penetrating, distance goes up, ball stops quicker! It's a game changer! however, I can only get it right by doing it at the start of the takeaway, at least that's how it feels to me, a bit like the forward press that many people do.

    • @Handletaken4
      @Handletaken4 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Compress the ball. Wind no longer a factor. Ball peaks then comes straight down. Just pure magic.

    valid tip and thanks for sharing. The bowing of the left wrist assists with better compression of the golf ball at impact, if other parts of the golf swing are done correctly. I don't believe that the distance gains were due to this though. Your increase in distance correlated exactly with an increase in swing speed. Your 170+ yd shots happened when you swung the club at 85mph and you got 160+ yds at 80mph swing speed. All things being equal i would doubt there was much distance gained. That's not to say its not good advice, but not one for those expecting to hit the ball farther.

  • @SwingEzzZZ
    @SwingEzzZZ 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    This move helps promote bowed left wrist condition at impact. This is game changer for me. Impact snap training aid is very good for practicing this. The face will be delofted and the launch angle is lower. More ball compression. That's why Ben Hogan's book shows picture of bowed left wrist at impact with supination of the left forearm.

    Set you trail hand in the Fibonacci hurricane shape spiral and you will never need to even think of doing the action of turning the screw with your lead hand at the top of the swing ever again. I tried this 11 months back back and it seemed to work; but in the long run it did not help me consistently at all at the top of my swing. Are you honestly doing this swing thought at the top of your swing today???
    I swear you will love setting your trail hand in the Fibonacci hurricane shape spiral even though you are already good teacher and great personality in golf. You will be amazed as well.
    I am currently bugging you about placing your trail hand in a fixed Fibonacci spiral shape because I would love to see your face when you see the amazing consistent results for yourself and you have a video to show for it.

    Matt, do you hold that “turn the screw position” through the shot?

  • @faadar
    @faadar ปีที่แล้ว

    I have been experimenting with this . If I do it right at the top of the swing it makes me pause before transitioning and makes me think about a good full follow through . That pause gives me a trigger , hence if you do this at the take away you still rush the swing and do gawd awful stuff

  • @runhard-alwaysfinish1108

    Is it possible to "turn the screw" at address, setting the hands and holding through the swing (instead of rotating at the top). Or does the act of turning within the swing create momentum as well?

    What about “turning the screw” allowed or promoted swinging the club faster? It looks as though that move allows or promotes a faster club head speed for you. Can you show this move with driver? Makes sense with irons and forward shaft lean, the turn closes the club while the shaft lean tends to open the club, but don’t know how this works with driver. Thanks for the content!

    Hello Matt ,what aps do you use for knowing the ball speed ????

  • @markburch6253
    @markburch6253 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This is called suppinating your left wrist. It's taught in Ben Hogan's 5 lessons : the modern fundamentals of golf published in 1957. The part about suppinating your wrist starts on page 100.
    This is the move that Ben Hogan attributed to him being called the greatest ball striker who ever lived. There are literally people teaching the exact opposite on TH-cam. They teach you to whip your wrists through like a catapult. THEY ARE WRONG. BEN HOGAN IS RIGHT. Well done.
    Another caveat. If you're a typical slicer you've probably developed a strong grip to compensate. Make sure you use a neutral grip or you'll hook everything.
    Excellent video trying to explain something that is counter intuitive and most people don't believe.

  • @tdaveniii

    • @markburch6253
      @markburch6253 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Or you don't have a neutral grip. Most golfers use a strong grip to compensate for the fact that they use their wrists to lift the ball which opens the clubface. For this move a neutral grip is a must.
