You don't need to straight pipe it. Get an X-pipe (as you mention), then open the muffler boxes and pull out the sound deadening material, then weld them closed again. Sorted. Also, when starting any F1 Maserati or Ferrari, turn the key to the ignition position, wait a few seconds while the car runs it's checks and sets the cam positions, then start. You will find drive smoother. Lastlt, it has a new nearside headlight, so it's had a little ding and the nose has been repainted. Because the front is plastic, the painter has not accounted for the slight static from the plastic and so even with an exact paint, the molecules reacto to the static and it ends up with a darker look than it should. These are great cars, beautiful and misunderstood.
There could be mold underneath the carpeting, in the ventilation tubes, and underneath the front seats. I would suggest you to pull out ALL the ventilation tubes, all the seats, and all of the carpeting, and inspect it thoroughly. After that, do a good 2-3 hours of ozone with closed windows.
I believe all of the personal items were left in the vechicle because the owner was deceased in the car and the body was left to begin decomposition before it was discovered. This would explain the "mold" that absolutely nobody should breathe. Good luck. I think I would have fumigated that thing before entering......water under the bridge now.
No it would be a lot grosser and have lots of flys if a body was decomposing, I think it was probably in a flood or just forgotten with the windows open
I had an older Granturismo for over 3 years , it’s the same engine, sounded amazing, and the Bose surround system was great. But it was in the shop half the time and each time it costed thousands of dollars. Was a joy and a pain. Then I blew the clutch and fried it which would have costed 16k so I sold it as is :/
Messing with a used/wont start Maserati, ESPECIALLY a Quattroporte is risky business buddy, lol. The fact that you might get a profit on this one is insane.
Keep it stock, especially the exhaust system. Sounds great as is. Might have a problem if there is legal CA smog built in. Make for better resale as well.
Maseratis are fun, but incredibly unreliable. Back in the 80's, I had a Maserati BiTurbo that's life expectancy should have been measured in minutes. LOL.
Dude I have a feeling that the trunk is a contact issue. Check the trunk latch mech to see if something is stuck and not engaging to show trunk closed give the mechanism a spritz too just to lubricate and make sure everything is moving freely.
I absolutely love the looks /stance of this car! $2950 is just insane, I can’t believe the unbelievable deals that come to JRs Garage ! I’m jealous for sure
Houston has hurricanes and tropical storms?humidity?…mold. I would definitely have air test done by certified professional so you don’t get an unknown person sick on something you profit from, that would be bad karma! Good luck.
Benadryl is an antihistamine used for allergic reactions. Finding it in a moldy, biohazard-labeled car could be a lifesaver if someone has a mold allergy!
Hay JRGarage, loved this video and this model of Maserati is still to date my favourite car, it just looks so good especially the front. Really pleased for you that the gamble payed off but at that auction price even if it didn’t run you could of got your money back as a parts car
Man, another smoking hot deal you guys hauled in there!! Lets just keep our fingers crossed that the clutch doesn't take a dump on us..Sweet! :) And in MY opinion I think the factory exhaust sounds pretty dang good as it is, straight piping it is a tad too loud and obnoxious..Can't wait to see future videos on this!
Hi Jr garage!! I know you guys bought a Porsche 944 turbo for your first car, I was wondering if you think a Porsche booster 986 would be a good first car? Let me know!
Ι think you are brave enough (I remember the other Maseratis you bought). So I would suggest you clean it, polish it, fix the engine/clutch/F1 transmission to be a proper Maserati & keep it forever!!!
👏🏻👏🏻💪🏼👍🏼great job .. you guys are born with good luck and talent 🍀.. and cool to see Jimmy in your video again . Looking forward for the straight pipe 😉
DO NOT do the ozone thing, can react poorly with certain materials and will leave it smelling horrible with an odor you can’t remove (trust me from experience) I would steam clean or do some sort of deeper clean on the mold stuff though
Not gonna lie, for 3 grand even if this thing will most likely have a check engine light at all times and your gonna have the car for a week and the garage will have it for the following one, you can find 3 grand of parts really really easily through this car through partout. Just the engine covers that if it’s in half decent shape.
So as I'm listening to the wonderful TH-cam video which I'm so thankful to get i love the content always. What exactly is in the win column about this car? Maybe you could donate it to someone who really has like a wish to own a Maserati and then that way they can just park it out front not drive it but just park it out front.
That was a great buy but yes I guess got really lucky. Well done on clean-up and once the screen and other small faulty items done ,this will make a great vehicle. Maungaturoto, New Zealand.
Haha a CoPart special! I was an AGM at yard 91 and one time the gm tasked me to see if a bunch of biohazard flood BMWs would run and drive. Can still smell that sweat mold
Spray "Corrosion X" on every electrical connector pins and on every front and back of any boards and even saturate the digital display, it won't hurt it and quite possibly bring the screen back to Life.
As I was an owner of Jaguar XJ 6 1986, an Jaguar XJ 4.0 1992 and a Jaguar MK II from 1967 I am pretty sure that Maserati cannot be worse than the Jags. I would have taken it for this price, too, even with shippimg costs to Germany.
Definitely need to clean that inside more. Probably in all the air ducts and air filters and in the seats. Lots of places you can’t see. Someone may have died in it and it was donated cause it was like grandpa’s car or something
I’m a microbiologist and was just going to suggest an Ozone generator. You already said you were going to do that. Why? Because the mold you removed is just a part of the problem. Everywhere that you can’t see is also contaminated and will serve as a source of spores that can re-infect the rest of the interior.
I knew someone who had this car, I had been a passenger in it a few times, and one day we were about to go somewhere in it and it looked like the car in this video green looking mold everywhere. Are these cars susceptible to mold for some reason? I have never seen mold like that in any other car.
I have owned Maseratis, people are constantly bashing them and really for no reason. Every single vehicle manufacturer in the world has at least once or twice produced a turd. Perfect example is my 2019 Volvo XC90 sitting in my back yard, yet my Maserati Quattroporte is absolutely flawless as my daily driver. They simply are not as bad as 10 to 12 people on TH-cam make them out to be. So don’t trash something based on a poor purchasing decision. You can make a poor purchasing decision on any vehicle.
Enjoyed the video, but think you were incredibly lucky on this one. These are beautiful cars, but flip it asap and make some money on it. I suspect it won't be to long before mechanical fixes needed will excede the value of the car. Anyway, best of luck and keep doing what your doing (except an old Maserati is problem in the making).

These are great cars, beautiful and misunderstood.
it’s a cheap car why not straight pipe
There could be mold underneath the carpeting, in the ventilation tubes, and underneath the front seats. I would suggest you to pull out ALL the ventilation tubes, all the seats, and all of the carpeting, and inspect it thoroughly. After that, do a good 2-3 hours of ozone with closed windows.
Thanks for having me over… and trying to give me a disease… hahaha
"JR Garage: Come for the cars, stay for the black lung disease!" 🤣
JIMMY!!!!
That is a unique work of art, leave it as it is, drive it, use it, enjoy the specialness of it, in the best colour too....
That exhaust sounds great the way it is. Leave it alone!
I think it's a beautiful car, very nice, elegant and sporty at the same time ❤
I believe all of the personal items were left in the vechicle because the owner was deceased in the car and the body was left to begin decomposition before it was discovered. Maserati really is a toxic ex for everyone. Everyone knows it's gonna be trouble but goes back nonetheless
For real 😂 especially after our last Maserati disaster…
@@JRGarage precisely my reason for commenting 😂
I had 4 myself ahahah ❤
I had an older Granturismo for over 3 years , it’s the same engine, sounded amazing, and the Bose surround system was great. @@JRGarage What do they say? .... Insanity is ..... You know the rest. .
Messing with a used/wont start Maserati, ESPECIALLY a Quattroporte is risky business buddy, lol. The fact that you might get a profit on this one is insane.
that has to be a houston flood car. harris county, mold inside. makes complete sense
Glad electronics works still could have gone wrong badly
The mold is still everywhere, especially in the HVAC system and in the pores of the interior that couldn't be cleaned
I was skeptical with the mold but love the car. Turns out it cleaned up super nice! Get that ozone going and you're set!
clean and use ozone generator in there
That should have been done upon receiving the car. Mold isn't to be played with. They need to wear mask.
If you want professional help, I do mold remediation in vehicles for a living. You are only doing a small part of what is needed. Glad to give advice
Will Ozone from here take care of it?
You should rent a ozone cleaner to make sure all the mold is killed. (Edit) Lol. They already thought of that.
0:11 - JR Aviation? Am I lost again?🤣
You subscribed to both?
@@JRGarageoffcourse I am ❤
Don't forget to fix the little shifter handle in the console.
Keep it stock, especially the exhaust system. Sounds great as is. Might have a problem if there is legal CA smog built in. Make for better resale as well.
Loved every minute of this. And I absolutely love quattroporte’s. I know they are fussy but it’s totally worth it to me
Maseratis are fun, but incredibly unreliable. Back in the 80's, I had a Maserati BiTurbo that's life expectancy should have been measured in minutes. LOL.
I wouldn't do the straight pipes.
2900? 2950? 2800? 3700? How many different prices are you going to comment? lol nice pick up either way! I hate these cars but you guys saved it
I thought this was WatchJRgo when I clicked on it. Then I saw the JR Aviation intro. Then I heard JR garage. Then I see Jimmy. Excellent!
What would we do without Christian😂😂
I would have throw the whole car away 😂
Dude I have a feeling that the trunk is a contact issue. Check the trunk latch mech to see if something is stuck and not engaging to show trunk closed give the mechanism a spritz too just to lubricate and make sure everything is moving freely.
Jr aviation🤣🤣 0:08
Oops
The only good thing I know about this car is it has the most sexy exhaust sound when running properly.
This and JR Aviation are 2 of my favorite channels. I'm now looking at cars on Bring A Trailer because of you guys.
That's a brave move, hope the Maserati cleans up well! 🚗
Ticking noise could be Variator which is a problem on these early cars
Petition to get the Jimmy’s World Elvis Jet RV on this channel 🙌🏻
0:07 I thought I clicked a Jr Garage video💀💀
The brothers score again! Well done guys
I absolutely love the looks /stance of this car! $2950 is just insane, I can’t believe the unbelievable deals that come to JRs Garage ! I’m jealous for sure
My neighbor a few houses down has a 23 Grecale...over a year in and no issues they love it.
Huge win there guys, however, given the history of these cars, I'd be looking to flip it fast, let the next guy fix the wheels and change the exhaust.
Change all of the fluids, then do ozone throughout. Keep the car stock. The clutch is going to give out in less than 5k so why bother straight piping.
Maybe a tip is don’t use music when you’re washing/cleaning the interior. It makes everything way better if there’s no music.
Please leave the exhaust alone!
Likely reason they ditched the car before 30,000 miles is because of the clutch. There's a tool to figure the clutch remaining.
Did my part for open exhaust shenanigans.
But, if it were me... I'd sell that interior and bring it to LeMons. Make some people cry about budget.
Houston has hurricanes and tropical storms?humidity?…mold. I would definitely have air test done by certified professional so you don’t get an unknown person sick on something you profit from, that would be bad karma! Good luck.
Beautiful car, can't wait for you to fix it up❤ That's super reliable given 5 years without moving....
It might be junk but god it makes such a beautiful noise
Benadryl is an antihistamine used for allergic reactions. Finding it in a moldy, biohazard-labeled car could be a lifesaver if someone has a mold allergy!
The car is beautiful . You did a great job on it.
Hay JRGarage, loved this video and this model of Maserati is still to date my favourite car, it just looks so good especially the front. Really pleased for you that the gamble payed off but at that auction price even if it didn’t run you could of got your money back as a parts car
I love this model of the quattroporte, remember It in Entourage, grey like this one. Please exhaust vídeo
The ticking noise on cold start is often a sign of failed cam variators - which are an expensive fix if so. Looks like a nice pickup otherwise!
Doesn't really have the symptoms. No misfire or idling issues. Rod bearing, maybe? It might clear up after a quality oil change, and a good run-up🤞
Great Buy Team ❤️❤️Looking forward to seeing you guys putting a exhaust on 🥳🥳

Boom str8 pipe time 🔥
Maserati! Like that beautiful, false biting dog. "Look how cute she now is".
Hi Jr garage!! I know you guys bought a Porsche 944 turbo for your first car, I was wondering if you think a Porsche booster 986 would be a good first car? Let me know!
Possibly, you have to be careful finding a good one though.
Ok thanks!
Booster or Boxster? 😊 The 987 is better if you can stretch your finances.
Ι think you are brave enough (I remember the other Maseratis you bought). So I would suggest you clean it, polish it, fix the engine/clutch/F1 transmission to be a proper Maserati & keep it forever!!!

I think Sreten (M539 restorations) would like this bad idea haha
He would buy a petrol canister and a lighter
Can't wait for the straight pipe upgrade ;)

Maungaturoto, New Zealand.
Been seeing alot of these in auction lately
Most are piles of doo doo
Well done. Great car if leave it with Nardil sounds that are unique to Maserati
Epic flip right there boys!! New to the channel subscribe but have been following both garage and aviation channels.. Very impressive!

Coolant change too. I think it's a very distinctive car. Please don't get it straight piped.
Man i love these cars, i’ve had 2 but i think it’s time for another one.
Why can anybody let a Maserati deteriorate in such a bad state...? Good work!
You guys have the midas' touch....well done👍😉...p.s. great colour, looks brand new👍
Changed my clutch at 50k did not have to but the throw out bearing was noisey on my 2006 now have a 2012 GTS!

it's been in a crash. that explains the new looking headlights and different shade front bumper.
Please look for an amg with a m156 engine! I would love to see it on the channel!!!
The wheel was probably replaced when it had a front ender and they put the new one on the back so it didnt get kerbed.
