My recommendation is: download cursor, used it untill you used all the free request, then download windsurf, use it until you use it two weeks, in one month there will be another new AI IDE which we can use for fre another 2 weeks or month and so on and so on haha
this is a "me first" situation - thousands of groups trying to be the de facto AI editor by being the first to arrive. When the "thing" is not open source, it'll end up being sold to a bigger company, that's what they want from the start - big easy bucks. So, the ONLY solution is going open source, and pay for the service - pay for processing power, pay for fast computing and fast communication with top of the notch LLMs and agents.
Some many Ide's, atm, which is cool. I really like Codeium, and gotta say, Windsurf, feels like a combo of aider and cursor. Having said that, it moves fast and if you don't know the code that well, hallucinations or crappy code could easily be introduced, though it does do some processing and checks in the background. Still early and I'll push it, but I still use a variety of tools, Aider, Cursor, Lmstudio, depending oin needs. Don't stick with one, have fun
Honestly, I laughed so hard when he uninstalled Super Maven just because it partnered with Cursor. I've never laughed that much before! I think he's actually promoting Cursor by saying it's bad just because they charged $20 for forking an open source project which is actually legit.
yes, Windsurf is really impressive , i tried this and immediately paid....its really really worth it. very very impressive when you ask it to build full stack everything front backend etc.
I'm trying it as many things you suggest in your videos. It looks and feels cool and polished, and works quite well for the few times I've used it, but it has some drawbacks that make me stick with Cursor for now. Here they are: no web search, no image upload, no documentation in context and somehow the way it handles code modifications from Cascade. Plus I use a "Remote FS" extension for files in a server where I don't have SSH access, and I wasn't able to reference them in any way, while Cursor handles them with no problem. I'll keep looking as it gets updated with interest, but for now Cursor is still better
Definitely a thumbs up on a long format full stack app video would be awesome! Thankyou ❤ Question - When you choose 3.5 sonnet here was it using your anthropic api key or is it part of their unlimited generations and you getting it under the 2 weeks pro trial?
The king never sleeps, you know? And I love hearing about your crazy relationship with Cursor. 😂 But I'm really looking forward to the full-stack version. Don't leave us hanging and make it available to paid members only. That would be a SAD. 😢
So, I've been messing around with Codeium today and I just dont see how it's better than Continue. Am I missing something? I've been using Continue since it came out basically and have yet to find something within VSCode, besides Cline/Claude Dev, that is more useful. I simply don't know what I would do without it now. Could I even code anything anymore? I frankly dont know. Are there some shortcomings? Sure. However, I feel like that could be said about any AI tool right now. I'm still going to give Windsurf a shot as well, so perhaps that will blow me away. Despite the fact that little to no one will read this I thought that I would wrap back around and comment about this anyway. Cheers.
Cursor is great for adding and referencing documentation for frameworks you are working in, then referencing the documentation using @Docs. Is there an equivalent workflow in Windsurf or VSCode's native Copilot?
They should offer you a kickback on people signing up. I've already signed up and will go for the pay version. I'll be building apps for MCUs for an upcoming product release. I'll keep ya'll informed.
Thank you very much. I need your assistance. Iam stuck. what's your best AI Dev tools ( I like Project IDX, Bolt.new now we have this new AI IDE which one should i adopt thank you)
Depends what you are building. If you are trying to do a mobile app, IDX is the place to go. Just easier to set up and get going. Otherwise, use any of these.
The thing that stopped me changing from Cursor to Windsurf is that Windsurf doesn't have Vision capability. If it did and I could show it images, I would change. It's better than Cursor in quite a few ways. The issue though with all of these coders is how you prompt them. The second you confuse it it's done, no matter where you are or what you're working on. When one of these AI coders messes up it is 100% YOUR fault EVERY TIME. If you figure out how to prompt properly, it doesn't matter what editor you use. YOU ARE IN CONTROL.
I'll just continue to use... continue for code completion and chatting and improving code, all running with a local model. most of the aider and the other agentic/tool-using ones just don't work well with local models imo. yet at least.
I could not use it because I it does not include Microsoft Extensions (WSL, devcontainer). Not having some extensions available is a deal breaker for me.
Im not sure if this is a real problem but to use Windsurf with WSL2 you need Microsofts WSL plugin and it Windsurf doesnt let you use vs codes extensions. I couldnt even open a terminal in windsurf, it was powershell?
Also happened to me when I tried it and it errored, seems to happen on windows you have to wait for it to generate the app and then it won't work afterwards it throws an error and takes years to show output.
Bro can you make a video on mixed AI using which we can create a advance full webapp or mobile app. Like whatever we create its just the basic, so can suggest a combo using which we can create advanced level apps. Thankyou
please full stack and try to inctrusct in the request to make insane ui do that when the request is not heavy ull achieve great ui and ux without using any components libarry
I think you're right its better, but can i use local LLMs with it and at the same time keep the sonnet features like auto file edit and all? Or should i just pay the $10 monthly?😊

Change is good, mate. And these sw arent so diferent isn't? @@4tofromcafe
@@4tofromcafe I made 2K on a project i worked on with cursor by switching emails. It was a Flutter App using firebase backend.
or just change the email
Or pay $10-20 a month and use one like most people do. Being cheap and talentless has no benefits anyway does it?
Yes please. Full stack app would be interesting.
Copy that 🎉
Yes please I'm Just getting into Python Django framework been using cursor for awhile would love to see more of what you do with Windsurf
+1
Yessss!
I appreciate the honesty in admitting that you find the topics challenging to understand too.
It also gives you the option to install your own VS code extension. So it can be used with cline if you want to use local models.
It would be great to compare Codeium and VS+Cline side by side in full stack app making.

I’m fully convinced you have beef with cursor, every video I see it’s against cursor lol
A full-stack app demonstration is much more interesting!
Another fabulous video. I'd love to see it on a real world size project though. At least 10k or 20k lines at a minimum.

Or maybe a Tauri app
In all opensource or free alter have like Cline, Aider and this..which is the best overall in your opinion?
