Elliott Wave Theory has been around since the 1930’s and is used successfully by a number of technical analysts. Here IGTV discusses the principles of wave theory with IG client Adrian Ryan. He, first, explains the basic ideas and then talks about the principles, as he applies them, to silver and gold.

I used to think Elliott waves was sophisticated analysis, but now I think it is more like reading tea leaves. For example, his count of the silver market is way incorrect now knowing how silver crashed 5 months later. So then, you have to go back and "re-analyze" it to come up with some new hypothesis. That completely defeats the purpose of a forward looking indicator.

Its mathematical just randometry and not geometry. Randometry is it really a word? Randometry is outside of measurement tools but inside of fibonacci theory. I guess it is inline with chaos theory but all I can say is patterns are patterns and recognisable but the law of averages is a fact of life and is measurable by percentages and so in that way it is mathematical but really that way only. Proof it is measurable is clearly seen using any fibonacci retracement tool. Ratio's is the key word. OK I will stop now but this is something that really interests me :)

Can't you see that you are showing off the Gold Chart XAU when the analyst is talking about silver... And when is talking about Gold, you are showing off the silver chart XAG.

4 is deep in wave 1? That's not a true EW layout.

3 waves A in the zigzag? Maybe you should find another real EW trader.

Waves look subjective, a bit too unscientific, it's impossible to know for sure which wave belongs to which point.

This is silly, 1,2,3 A B C.. what?? Started trading S&P500 in 85, had to wait till 2008 to get the {B} Sounds like trying to pick tops and bottoms with numbers and letters. What took place before each of these moves?? A period of contraction with PA tells me direction alone.
