  • Cycling the world - Europe: 156 episode
In the sixth episode of my journey through Algeria, part of my endless journey cycling around the world, I leave the hotel in Bou Saada and take back roads to avoid being tailed by the police. The day is mostly uneventful until I start feeling unwell while searching for a place to camp. Despite a troubled night and a visit from wild boars, I push through the day with food poisoning, surviving on Loubia bean soup. Amazingly, I manage to ride over 100 km and find a stealth camping spot in an abandoned house near a big city. Join me as I navigate the challenges of food poisoning and the unpredictability of bikepacking in Algeria.

I’m an Algerian women and a Muslim
Yes women go the mosque 🕌 they usually go a little bit earlier than men ( well my family members do that ) but I personally don’t go to the mosque I like praying at home , for women it’s a choice you can go or you can stay at home or do something else , but for men it’s almost obligatory (you can skip if you have something urgent ) , also for women it depends on the area some areas are more conservative than others so women won’t go to mosques but others do (like al arkam mosque in chevalley or the great mosque in the capital )
Usually the more you go to the south of Algeria the more people are conservative, also it’s getting really hot lately you should be carful from heatwaves , we Algerians are used to it 😊 but many Europeans don’t and some faint

It's by shaming that things will change for the better.

Thank you, some Algerians are upset about my videos but I simply document my journey for the people that like my way of travelling. If someone doesnt like the way I travel shouldnt watch my videos.
I like to cycle around on smaller and rural roads and experience the country outside the classic touristy places. I find these places more genuine and shows me the true soul of the country.

2:40 Friday prayer is not obligatory for women, but rather it is obligatory for men. Women go to the mosque early to avoid mingling on the way, and they have their own designated part in the mosque. As for Friday, most Muslim women stay in their homes to prepare the dinner.

And yeah I always try to get them totally boiled of fried indeed. I get the same after effects you described, so probably combination, sour acidic stomach. What does help, when you have that, to eat mint, so like peppermint. Peppermint reduces the stomach sour and than you at least feel better less inflamed etc. I combine that with 1-2 paracetamols, and mostly next day I feel a lot better. Keep on rocking! :D Good luck, you can do this!

I am very sorry to hear that your visa was denied, you can try with other european countries once you have a european visa it's valid for all the european countries although it's very difficult to get one for Algerians.
It's very sad that some people have the privileged to travel the the world like myself and some others born in a different country cannot. I have no done anything to earn this privilege, I was simply born into it. That is very unfair, unfortunately greed and power and religion and politics put borders in place that the nature didnt have. I wish we could all live in peace and be free to travel where we want but sadly the reality is very different.
I do encourage you to travel within your own country, my visa was only 3 weeks but I would love to stay 3 to 6 months to travel around Algeria because it's a beautiful country and the people are lovely. There is so much to explore in Algeria and dont be discouraged but the temperatured just carry enough water and food and if you stay on paved roads you can always flag down cars and ask them for some water. That what I used to do when I crossed some African deserts like Namibia or Sudan or Egypt. Safe rides!

I can guarantee you that if it would have been salmonella you would have ended up in the hospital. To my knowledge, there has never been a case of salmonella in Algeria in 10 years. You probably caught a little virus because of the hot and cold climate. or something poorly digested. Sometimes when travelers change their diet, it takes a few days for the body to adapt and you can get sick. It happened to me in Europe, in Paris I got sick after a few days but 2 days later I was better. The only thing I avoid drinking when I travel is drinking tap water. That's probably why I got sick in Paris.

Friday prayer is not obligatory for women. It is obligatory for men only, and women pray in their homes. That is why there are a small number of women who go to Friday prayer. Add to that that in Islamic law, a woman must remain in her home and not go out except for necessity or need and cover herself because if a woman I left the house and mixed with men, doing things forbidden by law and morals. I must maintain morals and preserve honor and honor.

The Sunnah of muhammed (peace be upon him)is for a woman to pray at home on Friday, and other than Friday prayer in her home is better for her. Now the case is no longer ambiguous
